  1. Good, now can they finally shut up about it?
  2. NBCSN refreshed their ticker, adding banners promptly upcoming programming on the right side. Gee, I wonder where they got that idea from?
  3. It appears that all the wood trim has been removed from the sides with the installation of the new video wall.
  4. Two new reporters. They'll never be heard from again. https://www.robertfeder.com/2019/01/21/robservations-barry-rozner-says-hes-ready-leave-score/
  5. The odd thing about it is that she essentially shadowed them the day before she began filling in.
  6. I only doubt the LED wall, as they just upgraded the "windows" last summer. The new screens were more upright, and didn't have a glare like the old ones. Here is a pic from that weekend, before they reinstalled the metal accents... Also, Spring Rubber is right. There is so little room in that newsroom for a temp set, their flash cam setup is virtually right behind the set wall. Compare that position to how the open newsroom set was laid out (which is in the same spot as they are now)...
  7. Looks pretty good, for temporary.
  8. Complete edition of Eyewitness News at 10 from 40 years ago tonight. (WLS, 1/10/79)...
  9. New reporter at ABC 7. Meghan Kluth joins as a sports and news reporter...and fill-in anchor? After the last few months with Stadium in Chicago, she spent 3 years before that at WGNO in New Orleans. https://www.linkedin.com/in/meghan-kluth-60776444/
  10. Travis said himself that he'll be chief. Where are you hearing about Tillman? EDIT: BOTH are chief? What the hell is that?
  11. If we're talking about WBBM veterans, you gotta remember Mary Ann & Jay. The whole marketing campaign of the short-lived duo was based on their marriage. Also, that theme...
  12. Any idea where the weather shift leaves the 3 & 4pm newscasts (and maybe the 11)?
  13. I think anyone could do the fill-in once, as Robach and Vega have proven to have the versatility, but yes, I'd assume some combo of those latter 3, and maybe others. I would guess that there might not be a regular, official fill-in.
  14. NBC Sports Chicago will become the exclusive home of Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox games, starting next fall. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/nbc-sports-chicago-announces-new-deal-with-white-sox-bulls-and-blackhawks-503802931.html
  15. Now that I think about it, I believe New Years Rockin' Eve does include a little graphic under the LIVE bug crediting WABC during the chopper shots.
  16. Walter left on his own, actually, but he was reading the writing on the wall. He had been demoted from the anchor desk, and his commentaries had been moved from the 10 o'clock news. He knew he wasn't going to last. Honestly, in retrospect, the product wasn't bad, but it was such a departure from their longtime image, it just cemented their 3rd place status. The theme was not great, the graphics were so flashy, and the pacing of the whole show was super fast, for it's time. The overlooked part of this era is the news team, easily one of the best ever assembled at the local level. Lester Holt and Elizabeth Vargas would go on to top dog network anchor status, Jim Avila, Rob Stafford and Larry Mendte would also go national, Jay Levine, Mike Parker, McPherrin, MacLennan and Baskerville are legends, and Bill Kurtis and Harry Volkman are considered some of the best to ever do the job. Management just sucked. Here's the newscast attached to that open. Then consider what the #1 station in town looked like, at that point. Chicago was very traditional and conservative in terms of news (still is, in many ways), so the WBBM makeover didn't sit well.
  17. I haven't seen her for awhile, anyway. I'm assuming, I guess.
  18. Just temporary. The holiday weekend combining with Kalee and Alicia's respective leaves means things are thin.
  19. I still miss Janet Davies co-anchoring early shows before going out to host New Years Eve. Christmas morning is fun, these days, with Terrell and Phil at 6am, the former on the interview set, a fireplace on the monitors behind him, the latter in his once a year red blazer.
  20. It looks like, after upgrading the anchor backdrop this summer, they've installed the same seamless video paneling in the two other studio areas, making the studio virtually free of any traditional monitors.
  21. Even BIGGER on the stand-up area screen? Didn't they just redo that area and upgrade the touchscreen in the last year?
  22. WLS Eyewitness Sports Final (10-7-84), featuring Mike Adamle, Mike Jackson, and eventual Hall of Famer Walter Payton.
  23. Looks like the anchor bench is going to be back to full strength this week, just in time for all the wacky holiday anchor pairings. Hosea should be returning this week.
  24. He did WNN and ATM all week, as well.
  25. New reporter/fill-in anchor coming from Milwaukee. WDJT evening anchor Kate Chappell taking a ride down I-94. https://www.robertfeder.com/2018/11/30/nbc-5-hires-reporter-milwaukee/
