  1. I think KTLA Morning News and WGN Morning News may take umbrage witht his comment.
  2. I would assume that Jeff is the odd man out. He anchors the 5, 8 and 10. Those are the shows Chauncy is taking over. Juan has been there since the mid/late 1990s...he anchors the 4pm and 9pm.
  3. Is KSWBs ND still Rich Goldner? Former KTLA Morning News EP....
  4. ...and we wait for the "A McKinnon Broadcasting Company" header to be taken off of the website. It's still up as of 9/1/23 at 2:20pm PST.
  5. I think Sam might be featured as a third chair anchor type. Think Sal Castaneda at KTVU. He does traffic in the earlier shows, but is a featured contributor to their 9am hour. Sounds like Dani will handle the 10am weather duties.
  6. Looks like we will be seeing the Nexstar animation at the end of KUSI newscasts starting tonight.
  7. Kevin Sanders on KTLA back in the 1970s. He was from Australia.
  8. Definitely doesn't make sense to start at 4/4:30 in most markets as is the trend now. I can accept a 4am start time in top 5 or even top 10 markets. Anything else is just a $$ grab for advertising dollars. I get it, you have to make money somehow, but I feel resources could be better allocated elsewhere.
  9. Potentially leading up to an eventual retirement for the legendary Jim Hill??
  10. KABC Los Angeles -Morning Traffic Anchor Brianna Ruffalo also does 11am weather. Also Scott Reiff reports from Air 7. -Dedicated automotive reporter and health reporter. No consumer unit, these stories are usually fronted by a GA reporter. -I have seen a sports full screen with scores on the 11pm if no talent is available. Rob Fukuzaki is the long time sports director. Curt Sandoval handles weekends. -Weather is stacked: Legendary Dallas Raines, Leslie Lopez, Tony Cabrera, Shayla Girardin, and Alex Cheney -Fun Fact: Celebrity chef Bobby Flay's daughter is a community journalist for ABC7, Sophie Flay.
  11. As far as the sucessor for Welker on Saturday today- my best guess would be someone from NBC News Now or NBC News Daily. Those individuals seem to serve as minor league players cutting their teeth until a big network opportunity comes up.
  12. Whit Johnson worked at KNBC; co-anchored Today in LA. His wife, Andrea Fujii, was weekend co-anchor at KCBS/KCAL.
  13. Damn! Time to blow up CNN This Morning.
  14. San Diego is supposed to have a MLS team in the coming years as well. Sounds like a good time for the marketing people to arrange a partnership.
  15. PIX, KTLA and WGN to a lesser extent have had free reign on their sets. Will KUSI get the traditional Nexstar set in a corner like big market brother KRON or will they get to do something original. I really like the chill vibe that Fox5SDs set has.
  16. RIP Tony Valdez. Legacy KTTV nightside reporter.
  17. KTLAs ND is out effective immediately. https://deadline.com/2023/03/ktla-news-director-pete-saiers-exits-out-1235314772/
  18. Most likely Mary Yoon or Markina Brown. They seem to be their per-diem mets.
  19. Paul left due to a battle with alcohol. Can't recall why Tuck left, I believe it was $$. He ended up having a pretty legit career finale down at KFMB San Diego.
  20. PIX got the KTLA treatment. As the team gets comfortable in the studio, the viewer will see more cool jib shots and interview areas that weren't immediately seen during the initial launch. We are getting the same here in LA with KTLAs set.
  21. https://www.tmz.com/2023/03/18/cbs-los-angeles-kcal-meteorologist-alissa-carlson-faints-tv/
  22. I assume Colleen will continue solo at 11pm. She definitely has the chops to lead the 11pm on her own, she already does it at 7pm. KCBS/KCAL has Pat Harvey anchor solo at 11pm (6pm as well). Marc Brown anchors KABCs 11pm solo. KNBC could complete the big three network trifecta with this arrangement.
  23. **10pm news update. Kaj Goldberg was live off the top of the 10pm news.
  24. Seems like they may have been short staffed. Vera Jimenez, who is the defacto "chief" did the late morning/afternoon shows (11-2, 3 and 4pm). Kaj Goldberg must have had a last minute emergency/sick as he is scheduled Wed-Sun. He does middays Wed-Fri and nightside on the weekends. Kirk Hawkins, who fills in for all weather shifts, may have been off or had a conflict. He has a highly publicized real estate side hustle. I doubt Mark Kriski would stay beyond his 7-11am shift. Might be in his contract. He's been at KTLA since 1991 and he is rough to watch in recent years. I have seen him fill in for Henry on the 6am hour, but he is usually in the building at that time so it's not a huge inconvenience.
