I'm curious to see if Michelle Fisher will pick up the 11pm as well. Marc Brown is more than capable of handling the 11pm on his own, but Michelle would be a great addition as they already anchor the 5pm together.

Good hire, even though she is freelance. She was smooth and well-liked at KTTV. KTLAs current ND is KTTVs former ND. I wonder what their strategy for weather is down the road. KTLA has picked up Liana and Olga Ospina recently, both who are popular in the market. This is in addition to their long term weathercasters of Mark Kriski, Henry DiCarlo, Vera Jimenez and Kai Goldberg.

Here is his farewell from the 5pm tonight. Plus a brief Paul Moyer story.

Univision's nightly newscast, Noticiero Univision, looks a little different tonight. They are merging with N+ (pronounced "N más) in Mexico. The newscast will go by N+ Univision. In the video below, they are spinning it as a win for better and more complete news coverage across the US and latin America.

In an interesting development, it appears that FOX11 has expanded their 11pm offering (Good Nite LA) to the weekend. When it premiered, GNLA was only on weeknights. It's a little odd since their morning show GDLA is only on Monday- Friday. Lets see if 2026 will bring a GDLA expansion to seven days per week. There was a short-lived Sunday version of GDLA, but it was absolutely dreadful.

Ping, as he is known, is good. I like him. KTLA hasn't made an official sports anchor annoucement since Derrin Horton left. They rotate between Ping, Steve Hartman and others including midday co-anchor Glen Walker who did sports at WNBC.

So we know KABC is on a temp set, with their new set slated to debut in March. Is their temp set using a green screen? Looking at the video below and others, the shadows around the anchors and the lighting makes it appear to be a green screen. I want to be optimistic and not hope so since I feel a station like KABC could have done something in the newsroom to not make their temporary setup appear so cheap.

So inconsistent. Why not keep the new/old newsroom look that they launched this week for the Tony D. era.

Pretty cool to see that the historically stodgy WRAL is evolving. Chad Ochocinco Johnson accidentally on purpose mispronounced the city name Raleigh. It created a social media firestorm and WRAL got on the bandwagon. Genius grassroots marketing. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTVINifjjf-/

Not a bad group. Just sucks they are stuck on CBS.

WLNE Chief Met Kristina Shalhoup announced her departure. Sound like she is staying in the market but for now she is only saying "stay tuned..."

Came across this video during my search on YouTube. WSVN created a secondary and small insert wx studio to do wx hits during GMA. Sounds like they repurposed an old conference room. Based on the drone shot at the beginning of the video, the new 'SVN building can't come soon enough. Their current home looks tiny!

Embarassing they are doing a soft launch from their O&O station. Strings could have been pulled to get Tony on a PJ or the fastest flight back to NYC to report on the biggest news of the weekend. CNN had a few of their top talent on....Erin Burnett and Sara Sidner. On the brief coverage I watched from MSNOW, Rachel Maddow even made an appearance from what I would assume is an NYC flashcam.

Car chases, fires and breaking weather will still win at 6:30pm. KTLA has the advantage in the time slot.. KNBC and KABC will blow out the network news in favor of the former. KCBS will do the same on KCAL. Let's see if KTTV management will do the same.

They blew out the first two hours of GDLA this morning in favor of streaming LiveNow from FOX. Again, most likely due to lower viewership around the holidays. It was interesting to see since LiveNow was airing a live feed of GDNY.

Former KTLA news director Jason Ball had a sucessful podcast during his tenure at KTLA. It was called "The News Director's Office." Jason left the business during Covid, but he is back with another podcast which features many former high profile media people...several from LA. His new podcast is called "Life After News." It can be found on most streaming platforms and YouTube. Jason and his guests keep it real with the state of the business. and other topics Jason and GM Don Corsini revitalized KTLA after it had been run into the ground under a previous leadership regime. https://www.youtube.com/@LifeAfterNews/videos

Let's hope the new set is a little more WABC and a less WPVI.

Another nail in the CBS News coffin. Bari Weiss will interview Charlie Kirk's widow on CBS - Los Angeles Times

KNBC did this 30yrs ago with the OJ Trial. They didn't have a dedicated 7pm show at that time, but they had a nightly recap program which had significant ratings.

As Jeff Gianola (KOIN/Portland) retires this week, the station posted this long-form conversation with Jeff and KOIN anchor Ken Boddie. This was very well done.

Curious to know if Jim and Elliot's retirement are tied to all of the upheaval at CBS News and their O&O stations.
