Granted, but there are some things that we've known for years and those things won't change I fear. Like the fact that Michael's chemistry seems forced with everyone but Robin, he stumbles over every other word, his delivery on GMA is like a dear caught in the headlights ("umm okay" "uhh alright coming up" "oh okay here's a look at..."), and most of all the fact that he's being forced into actual news stories when he lacks any journalistic qualities. I've always felt that one of the morning programs should have a dedicated sports anchor, why not create a position like that for Michael? It's painful watching him sit with the big boys and girls and pretend that he's on the same level as George or even Robin, I mean at least with Lara she just sits there during serious news topics. Also, Lisa McRee and Kevin Newman turned out be disastrous for the program but even that era of GMA had lots of integrity led by journalist who were capable of displaying enough personality for the program. Michael's missing at least one of those.
-
No doubt in my mind this show ratings success is toast. Robin and George don't look comfortable even a little bit with the new anchor format so the viewers will most definitely agree. This has to be the dumbest decision anyone has ever made in regards to GMA.
-
Quite frankly I'm finding it all hard to watch. Michael is just not good, where as Jesse Palmer was really good. Watching George, Robin and Michael open the show is painful, it's like as if they know this is just as bad as it looks on TV.
-
Because similar to Lara's short stint a few years ago, Michael is an official co-host of the program equal to Robin and George.

Second floor set is a replica of the first floor with all the wood but looks pretty nice.
-
CTM just announced that they'll be broadcasting from the African American History museum next Monday with limited commercial interruptions. A first for morning TV?

Forgive me but this always annoys the crap out of me.. GMA and Today are essentially the exact same program with different personalities. How is it possible that you're capable of tolerating one but hate the other one for the exact same thing? I guess my issue with it is because people seem to give TODAY a pass for their constant Kardashin, Duggars, and Hollywood drivel while railing against GMA for providing the same content? Both shows should fail, I think they're both garbage.
-
I guess it's somewhat intriguing but for a studio audience with another co-anchor why didn't Michael just stay at LIVE?
-
Oh goodness. I'll pass.
-
I'd say because of the studio audience it's likely that whatever they're unveiling will be on the second floor. Would be nice if they did a complete overhaul of the set, I would like to see everything changed from the layout to the design of the first floor studio. They haven't done anything to it other than refreshes for about 5 years now. When watching over the past few weeks I've noticed that there is some kind of construction work happening outside the studio as there is scaffolding surrounding the famous Times Square Studio ribbons on the building. Anyone else picked up on that?

Call it a lie or whatever you want, in his original interview Lotche claimed that he and others were forced to the ground by gunpoint after their car was pulled over or whatever. That has been determined to be a lie, Ryan Lotche himself has admitted that. And forgive me because I don't watch too often, but the few times I have seen Today's Take they pretty much spend the first 20 minutes discussing hot topics and giving their own opinions on it. If that's the format of the show, Al Roker was well within his rights to voice his opinion. He's a weatherman on the Today Show, yet you're acting like he must be as impartial as an investigative journalist on 60 Minutes or something. Also, the Olympic committee itself has spoken out about taking action again Lotche and the other swimmers for their stupidity. I doubt that they're seriously upset with NBC for reporting the news as they should, and if there are indeed strained relations between them and NBC it most likely stems from the peacock's shitty Olympic coverage.

Wouldn't quite say that Today's ratings are great, they're down an average of 2 million ~ compared to a decade ago. The "great ratings" have more to do with GMA losing so much rather than Today gaining (which they haven't)
-
Yeah his rant about Lotche was the first time I found myself enjoying Roker's presence in some time. Still he needs to be shown the door, what's up with him and Lauer hanging on for so long? It's been about 20 years for both of them in their positions on the program.
-
According to Willie Giest he's no longer on the third hour of the show. Not sure if that had been confirmed here or not.

I wasn't even aware that Fox Chicago had a weekend morning program
-
I agree with the bolded part so much it hurts. Lauer and co. have literally made fools of themselves by proclaiming Lotche to be innocent after an interview. Not even sure why I'm so shocked at the lack of journalistic integrity from Matt, he's never been an actual journalist/reporter. Just a damn good TV personality who has managed to work his charm up to NBC.

Robin brought Charlie and Diane back to the show in 2013 I believe for a small segment it was awesome to see the three of them together.
-
I doubt NBC forced Bryant out of his spot, wasn't Today a few years into their 15 year morning tv dominance when Bryant left? If anything I would imagine they did everything they could to keep him. Bryant worked on the sports side of NBC as well before moving to news and Today.
-
Oh boy weren't those the days? Never took the top spot from NBC but in my eyes these 4 together were GMA's glory days mostly because I really started watching during this time.
-
Amy does briefly read headlines during the first half hour and again at 8am, she also does a lot of segments in the last half hour. To my point about being confused on who does what, the main presenters are fairly obvious but I was alluding to them often having TJ Holmes, Sara Haines and Mara S. provide reports then hang around the show for the rest of the program. On even given day one could easily assume that TJ or Sara Haines were one of the main presenters of GMA. It's just too many people crammed into that tiny studio. I think they ensemble cast worked so well for them back in 2012 that they've expanded on that idea and brought way too many people into the fold. Sorry to go on a rant about it but it's pretty annoying and uncomfortable to watch when they do this because it's as if those talents are there without any real purpose. Then they're bringing Michael into the fold full time September which is going to be awful. That's nearly 10 "primary" presenters on a daily basis for a two hour program. Totally agree about the Today Show though, they've got way too many people as well but they also benefit from having 4 hours to spread personalities over. CBS This Morning captures the essence of what made me love morning TV of the 80's, 90's where Charlie and Joan or Jane and Bryant led their respective programs and there was no overwhelming factor of too many faces on any given day hosting segments.
-
Also I think it's quite ridiculous that I sometimes have no clue who the official members and anchors of the program are. There are always so many people on at one time that it's extremely confusing
-
He's been with Robin this week while George is away. Amy, Ginger and Jesse have been there this week as well. Also I don't think David is cold, I just don't think his personality or presenting style is morning tv. I honesty don't enjoy him on the evening program much either, he just seems to be much better when he's in the field.
-
David Muir is surprisingly awful when he fills in on GMA in my opinion, he's definitely way too dry and robotic for the light hearted pace of morning television. Not sure why ABC insist on having him fill in for George.
-
What exactly is Savannah's role on the show for the few weeks where they go all out Olympics? She's obviously back in New York but is she doing the headlines or what?

We could only be so lucky...
