  1. I'm not sure I see the issue here... Every viewing option on TV at 10 p.m. is competing for a share of viewership. I could understand if they were claiming to be #1 against WLS if they were airing a telenovela vs Channel 7's newscast but they're not. KTRK in Houston has battled with Univision here for the top spot at 5,6 and 10 with Univision on top lately. It's more of a change in demographics and viewing habits and to dismiss it as non fair comparisons ignores that.
  2. I watched this morning, Hoda opened the 7:30 half hour at the desk with Matt and Savannah. Wonder what format they're going for here
  3. Pretty sure Ann Curry had signed a new deal just to be pushed out a year later...
  4. That's pretty random...but I think they could have worked out well. I think ABC wanted a younger fresher version of Joan Lunden and Diane Sawyer wasn't really that.
  5. Nope. The show has officially relocated to the CTM studio.
  6. Amy sits at the desk and reads the headlines during the first half hour again. Not sure when they made the change again but I like it. Amy is one of the strongest on the show and needs to be utilized as such.
  7. Well they discussed it on Sunday Today this morning and made it seem that she was coming back earlier because they're having a pretty intense week with the GWB interview tomorrow and the president's address to the nation and congress this week which Today will broadcast live from Washington, DC.
  8. No.. She's not the answer, that's all I'm going to say. Those roles were made specifically with people like Lara Spencer and Sara Haines in mind. I never really liked the chick who did it before Sara (Rachel Smith??)
  9. I like the desk and the look A LOT! Haven't seen the show in so long. Have things changed from where they were last year? Is Michael still there as a 3rd co-anchor?
  10. Your comment was that Today wasn't losing viewers, you made no mention about the battle between the two shows. GMA losing more doesn't cancel out the fact that Today is losing viewers as well, and a lot.
  11. You can check the latest morning tv ratings released just this week, The Today Show's viewership is down. As is GMA
  12. To be honest I don't mind that they toned down the celebration this time, it's redundant to bring everyone back for every single anniversary. 60 years was a huge celebration and it would look awkward to that over again only 5 years later. Completely agree on the pessimistic feelings towards the future of the show though. That was painful
  13. Last week with Katie was exceptional, her and Matt just have that natural chemistry between the two of them. So far with Meredith, it's just not there. She wasn't a natural like Katie is and it's almost like she really doesn't want to be there. I understand that Matt and Meredith's chemistry with one another was always different than what he had with Katie but I don't remember it being this bad. All morning it's Matt making jokes and Meredith just sort of laughs and continues reading the prompter. Monday, she was so agitated by standing outside of Studio 1A in the cold and was making it very apparent. Ehh.
  14. She literally is made for this role, she and Matt picked right back up where they'd left off in 2006.
  15. Let's hope they stick with this method and continue to fall behind in the ratings then maybe they'll wise up and ditch this shitty format.
  16. So while you're speaking of revisioning history... why don't you do yourself a favor and read the damn book in which Stelter explains how Matt worked with Jim Bell to have Ann ousted. Don't demean Matt by undermining his backstabbing actions, he and Jim Bell were the two leaders in the outing Curry coalition. I may dislike Lauer but I will use facts to back that up, don't challenge me on that.
  17. Yeah I had hoped that this was only temporary as it just doesn't look right coming from the CTM studio. Not the right look for a flagship evening broadcast.
  18. NBC doesn't seem to think so...
  19. Actually quite the opposite, Matt was one of the main culprits behind Ann's firing. It's covered extensively in Brian Stelter's book exactly how it all went down.
  20. This is so stupid, the Michael experiment isn't working. Watching their post election coverage and cringing at him trying to ask and report on serious political issues.
  21. We actually don't know that they didn't.
  22. I'd be quite happy actually if that happened. It would mean I could go back to watching the same morning television program I've watched most of my life ha!
  23. I doubt NBC is ready to get rid of Lauer as he seems to be considered one of their greatest assets, so I say he leaves if he's ready to. Which leads me to wonder, how is he not tired of doing this show after 20 years? No cast change could really make me watch Today honestly unless they replace Savannah as well. She just doesn't have the same "it" that Jane, Katie and Meredith had.
  24. Lol I'm glad Billy Bush is without a job but him leaving does nothing to lessen the fact that GMA is awful.
  25. Have I engaged in locker room talk? Yes, we all have. I've never done it while on the job where it could come back and haunt me or my employer professionally. So while I acknowledge the efforts to deemphasize this situation by saying we've all done, it's just not the same thing.
