Nate also hosts the NFL Today on Sundays and is filming a game show for the network. He might not want an extra hour of working.

It looks massive. Look I hate that ABC is leaving its UWS and TS studios but if you do them as well as what we see here, it’ll be hard to stay angry.
-
Just went by the studio while in Chicago this weekend. It’s surprisingly exposed to the street level and pedestrians in a way most other street side studios (including WBBMs) aren’t. There’s an elevated platform or barricade that creates some type of separation for those other studios that WLS doesn’t have. The separation from the street, window and set is shockingly small.

The “bones” look largely the same as what they’ve had but new desk and screen elements will help modernize the look for sure.

Do Nicole Wallace and Joy Reid hosts their MSNBC shows from a remote studio outside of 30 Rock? Their shows use the tightest shots with reflections on the screens behind them. Also anyone know what studio Jen Psaki led the evening coverage from after this week’s DNC? It almost seemed like a virtual set.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News thread

This talent open format, similar to WABC, feels super disjointed. Was this video sped up at all? -
Interesting choice. It’ll be nice to see Sade outside of the EWN format.
-
They rarely do it and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sade anchor at 6. When both Bill and Liz are out they used to have Sandra do 4, 6 and 11 and Joe in for Bill at 5, 6 and 11. I’ve rarely seen Mike or David at 6 despite filling in for Bill at 5 and 11.

Katie (Katherine then) was the Pentagon correspondent for NBC and was co-anchor of the much more buttoned up Sunday Today program. She also commanded hours of NBC’s coverage during Columbine, 9/11, London subway bombings, Hurricane Katrina, etc. She also held an impromptu interview with Bush senior that was well regarded. CBSEN didn’t work out for her but she has the chops for serious news. Statements like this might give her comments on sexism a bit of credence. In my opinion, David Muir is one of the worst anchors to grace any of the evening newscasts but you seldom hear criticism that he’s better suited for GMA, which he arguably was when Diane retired.
-
Why give it a different name? Seems like the third hour branding should match the flagship program if you want to give the show a chance at success.
-
Massive tech issues at the start of yesterday’s show. The team opened the show on the plaza for Hoda’s 60th birthday celebration but there was no audio on their mics and then no audio on the open package. Cut to commercial ads and then a cold open back to the group on the plaza at 7:04.
-
I don’t quite remember Katie walking away as much as CBS moving in a different direction, similar to what is happening now and has happened the last 5 or so anchors. Not disputing that sexism is rampant across media industries but I don’t think it’s had much to do with failure of the Evening News and particularly Norah. She’s just bad.

A 30 minute replay of the morning program would be malpractice lol. There’s no way.

JFC finally. Their current building is falling apart from the outside.
-
Come to think of it The View has always had really good sets. The only one I didn’t like much was the translucent/frosted desk introduced around 2007-2008ish.
-
Seems like a demotion but the framing that it was her decision to step away from the day to day and establish herself more like a Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer for CBS is somewhat plausible. Interesting that there was no leak or speculation about this before the announcement. I thought they’d stick with her long term given the demands she made and their willingness to accept them i.e., moving the show to DC.
-
Agreed with the above. Dumping Scott Pelley was a bad move, at the very least pointless. Absolutely nothing has changed from the time they hurried on from him. Feel somewhat similarly regarding Jeff Glor.
-
Shouldn’t be shocked to see this given EN patterns since Dan Rather but damn this is surprising. She was never that great behind the desk but they made an investment in her and the show moving down to DC so I thought they’d stick with her. If you’re going to revamp the show every 3-5 years then you might as well implement a rotating anchor format.

Fox Television Stations - General Thread

Is the 4pm an hour long as well? They already do an hour at 5 and now an hour at 6. -
As a consumer of a metric ton of NBA I really don’t like the Amazon streaming option, or any other streaming option for that matter. I hope WBD can come out successful in this.
-
Where are you seeing this confirmed? I’ve only seen the NBA’s statement that they’re reviewing.
-
More generally, how is WBBM doing in the ratings race? I like to see them putting in some effort to stand out again.
-
That window shot is so cool. For all of their woes, WBBM has done great with this and their last CBS mandated set. What they did to the 2008 set at the end was criminal.

No one is bigger fan of Good Morning America as a television institution than I am. I’ve watched avidly since the early days of Charlie, Diane, Robin and Tony. My family as a whole has watched it almost as a morning ritual since the 80s. It’s not just an opinion. The show in its current iteration is garbage. I wouldn’t point to ratings given the show has bled nearly 3 million viewers over the last several years and shows no signs of slowing.
