We see people get pissed at least once or twice a season when a station interrupts a live sporting event for coverage on life threatening weather updates. When have we ever seen outcry from people that GMA or Today’s pop news segments are being interrupted for…more news coverage? Air the ceremonies in their entirety. It’s not preempting anything of particular consequence that would result in viewers being as outraged or angry as we’ve seen when sports or The Bachelor have been interrupted. Genuinely curious why you and Bergen are seemingly trying to find a reason to be offended by this?

I live in Manhattan actually but I’m not watching 9/11 coverage every year and haven’t in years, personally. Or any morning television these days for that matter. You’re (as I’m noticing you typically do) trying to make an argument of me saying there’s no valid reason to NOT air the 9/11 memorials because it’s not preempting anything of particular consequence. Air the ceremonies if it’s 20 minutes or 4 hours because the time of day it’s being aired is not preventing any meaningful programming like prime time shows or a big game. That’s my point. No contrarian or argumentative point of view required.

There’s also just no valid or reasonable excuse not to cover the ceremony. At the very most you’re missing 20 minutes of shitty low-effort morning television.

Dowd was correct in what he said but the timing was undoubtedly bad. There’s still so much we don’t know about the situation even at this hour so speculation should be avoided in general and MSNBC was right to determine that the speculation in that manner violated their standards.

Just saw it. I like it and much more than when they just play the same rotation of pop songs related to whatever the last story is in the teaser.

Doesn’t sound like you understand. Mind your own business.

Is this legit? I know they were trying to make the transition pretty seamless for viewers but I didn’t realize they would be using the WNT theme. That is something for sure.

WABC-TV is running a back to school segment for the local morning news which really shows off the versatility of GMA’s(?) set. The screens make it look like a physical classroom with really intimate lighting as well. It’s going to be impressive to see what they do with the technology these virtual sets and floors provide. I’ll try to grab a screen grab.

He’s never been my favorite on-air personality but with how stiff and formulaic that show is these days, his personality is needed. He has good chemistry with Robin, George and Lara which is a critical component to these morning shows working.

Awful name.

100% agree. She’s become a quick favorite of the weather team in her short time at channel 7 so far. That 10am show is much better when she’s on.

We have an idea of what will become of ABC’s former HQ. Residential and some mixed used development will replace Disney’s former NYC HQ, including a 1200 ft skyscraper.

The Post’s story suggests Maurice would be the surviving anchor of the two. Also suggests that CBS Mornings could see some changes too. That’s a network in complete disarray.
-
Mike Marza proving to be the hardest working man at EWN! He anchored yesterday’s newscast at 5 and 11pm and is filling in on his old stomping ground for the Saturday morning’s newscast.

Interestingly ambiguous. Doesn’t seem like it was entirely her choice?

Thank you. That was somewhat of a ridiculous thing to say lol. Elex is solid but doesn’t come anywhere close to John Beard. Hell, he isn’t even Carlos Amuezca.

I don’t know the full intricacies of it but didn’t Disney just buy out Comcast’s stake in Hulu? How would Fox get their programming onto Hulu if it’s a Disney asset?
-
I’m sure the goal is to provide an option for viewers who would be used to seeing WNT air at that time. As seamless a transition and change as possible for viewers would be the goal.

I do think NYC is one of those few markets with a sizable 4am audience and a lot of breaking news. Sam (seemingly) doesn’t do weather forecasting for at WABC anymore. He only appears for Mornings@10 and has also seemingly been added as a permanent fixture on GMA again.
-
I don’t have an answer but Sam hasn’t been on the 6am news in several months and they stop playing the talent opens after 6am. I think he still appears on the 10am regularly.

I can’t speak for the WPVI thread but for New York, it’s been interesting to point only when notable fill in or pairings are made. For instance they began rotating several network level talent, Liz Cho anchoring weekend mornings or at 11, etc.
-
I can’t tell if this is a joke lol. Is this the first time you’ve watched a television news broadcast?
-
It’s disingenuous to act like this was a financial decision while being the #1 late night talker at a struggling network. It would take ignoring all of the other developments preceding this move to be believable.
-
I’d tend to agree with that. I’m just imagining reporters of the past like Max Robinson in the age of social media where you’re inclined to share as part of the engagement strategy. Imagine Mark Giangreco or Steve Bartelstein in the current age of social media given how unhinged they could be on air at times?

Noticed this week that they’ve removed the talent open from the 5pm show reverting back to the standard intro.
