  1. KLKN has announced a new general manager. Kern Dant will replace Roger Moody who has been with the station since 1997 (KLKN signed on in 1996) and is a member of the Nebraska Broadcasters Hall of Famw. Kern Dant's father was the first GM in '96. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/237671/kern-dant-named-general-manager-of-klkn/ The Standard Media sale, by the way, is expected to be completed early September.
  2. Lubbock seems like too small a market to have that kind of in-house lifestyle program, and that talent bump was way too long. Cool, I see them...oh, I still see them.
  3. "Now" seems to be a recent branding strategy by Gray. KOLN in Lincoln is 10/11 NOW. That's a bit...redundant. Or are they saying 16 News is now live whereas before it was pre-recorded?
  4. Apparently KSHB has lost its ND, GM, and EP within the span of about two months.
  5. The studio looks phenomenal lit up like that. The open is probably the worst thing of all. Repeating shots showing nothing but the logo is small market. It's also uninspiring. The first couple seconds with the eye were promising, then...nothing.
  6. WMC looks like a cousin to the Scripps look (I swear the Scripps V2 continues to inspire new looks today). I disagree with using the morning cut of iNERGY for the evening news.
  7. Some stations are reaallllly picky with who they want to hire and will keep a search open until they find exactly (or close enough to) what they want. That, or they're just insanely slow at filling positions. Sometimes a spot opens but other things kept taking over priority and it takes forever to fill.
  8. I'm just happy the 7-day is a full 7 day and not a 5 day with 2 extra days stacked on top one another. That said, the free floating text for the weather headers has got to stop.
  9. "Around" meaning +/- (usually +) 2 or 3 months. Perhaps February sweeps 2020.
  10. I'm curious to know what a punishment would be if FCC concludes they did?
  11. You 1000% missed the sarcasm.
  12. "Flying transportation machine flew into a building in New York City? Nah, not a big deal. I doubt people would be interested in that. Not like the city would still be sensitive to the idea of flying machines flying into buildings or anything. Carry on (but let me know if someone dies)."
  13. I wonder if they saw all the flack their Midwest colleagues have been getting and were trying to do whatever they could to avoid it.
  14. Will FSN be required to run Boris? I see it now. "Halftime with Boris."
  15. I miss the original big desk.
  16. I don't see the problem. Workplaces with animals are generally happier, less-stressed environments.
  17. It's been that way for a while buddy.
  18. KSHB's general manager resigned on Thursday after 6 years. Her last day is June 2. She probably would've been fired had she not resigned. There were two racial discrimination lawsuits (in short succession) that the station partially (but not totally) was found at fault for, the husband-wife anchor duo suddenly resigning, as well as numerous other turnover during her tenure. No one really wanted to stay there.
  19. FTVLive saying the station "decided to part ways" with the two is a stretch at best (but what else is new for him?). They have three kids that are all like, under the age of 5. They both worked primetime in TV news. How they ever had time to be with their kids is a mystery to me. Good for them though focusing on their children. I'm sure it was tough working their schedule with such young children.
  20. Ahhh yes! Metro Sports. Those were the days.
  21. Good look, but the first 30 seconds of that newscast is enough to make me want to change the channel. Shaky camera and the anchors seem a bit unsure of themselves. Plus, holding tablets looks d u m b. At least you can fold papers.
  22. Oh man, I wish they had brought back that 19 typeface for a second life.
  23. Orange is fine if implemented properly and in the correct region (desert, tropics). Scripps V1 wasn't implemented properly. 99% chance I'm rading too much into this, but is The Now actually getting the axe?
  24. KSHB reported on this case, to their credit.
  25. Two years? What have they been doing then? Well I'll be damned. Never knew that. Now I look at the Scripps pkg and see something bastardized.
