  1. I love cake, but all these recent departures has made me tired of them. Last goodbye cake we had was barely touched.
  2. Seems like The Tank or stations has been given some creative runway lately, but I don't understand why there need to be special supers just for talent.
  3. His post says Lexington his home and he's coming back again for a second stint. He's probably buying.
  4. Some changes at WHAS. They've killed their morning brand of "Wake Up" and reverted to "Good Morning Kentuckiana" which is what they were for like 30 years before changing in 2019. They've also returned to two anchor newscasts at 4 and 5:30 pm, something else that was abandoned several years ago. The updated open has also been rolled out.
  5. Of course the employees are the victims. They get no say in the matter and will likely end up having to work harder assuming S/A comes in and slashes as many people as possible. Unless Standard/Apollo gives raises across the board and pours money into each station for resources and development, the only people that really come away from this are the execs.
  6. Tegna is back on Dish, conveniently after reports of their sale becoming more imminent. https://deadline.com/2022/02/tegna-stock-jumps-on-report-of-new-sale-talks-as-station-group-seals-carriage-deal-with-dish-ending-4-month-blackout-1234926787/
  7. Apollo is unlikely to be much better. I've heard the Cox stations are miserable and ran quite literally as cheap as possible. If Apollo can get rid of you, they will. Tegna employees are the real victims here.
  8. The green is unnecessary. Drop it (from everything) and everything is better.
  9. That open is radically different - I haven't seen that before. Looks good and adds a bit of excitement.
  10. This is correct. It's only on full screen gfx. Minor changes, but they're definitely improvements. Bigger elements, more depth, color gradients, and some updated animations. It isn't as flat as it was.
  11. It's ironic. They allowed themselves to be canned because they didn't get microchipped the shot, but the way the environment currently is some will have trouble getting jobs elsewhere (TV or not) because...the vaccine is required.
  12. This is an upgrade in my book.
  13. I saw the breaking variant of their L3s this morning at a glance and thought for some reason someone at work had changed the TV to CNN. Imitation is the best form of flattery (though I do prefer the CBS take). Still, you'd think someone from CBS would look at it in ideation in say "let's try to not look exactly like CNN."
  14. This is bad production 101. How can anyone working in market #1 see this and think it's a good look? If you don't want her standing on a box because you don't want to see the box, either give them stools or cover the desk. The height differential also gives off a power disparity with the man towering over the woman.
  15. News Director Chris Gregg is leaving Tegna's WVEC to join WHAS in Louisville.
  16. I think te biggest problem is it's a 100% flat look next to elements that aren't flat. See the example of the WNT logo. The text has subtle gradients that give it depth while the black pearl doesn't. It looks better on the GMA look where everything is flat.
  17. WTVJ looks very very nice. Disappointed to hear they canned the custom theme, it worked very well.
  18. Because of how staged it is lol. A picture would have sufficed.
  19. I really like the cut of music they used for the open. Majestic and simple. Also very surprised at how long the close was. Guessing they were wanting to kill some time before rejoining programming? It's a treat to see such long closes these days.
  20. Something I think they could have done to personalize each open is replace the faint "NEWS" text in that horizontal wipe after the peacock with the call letters of each station. Just gives it a subtle little personality I think.
  21. WHAS GM Christy Moreno is now following her news director to KING. WHAS now has no news director or GM. https://www.tegna.com/tegna-names-christy-moreno-president-and-general-manager-of-king-in-seattle/
  22. Yes, but with far more radical changes than what ABC is trying to pass this off as.
  23. It's a black circle with three letters in it. It isn't really that special of a logo, but I guess of course they're going to try and sell the change as new! fresh! and innovative!. There, I said it. Get back to me when NBC or CBS tries to change up the peacock or eye.
  24. KING has hired WHAS's Julie Wolfe as news director. https://www.king5.com/article/news/community/julie-wolfe-named-king-5-news-director/281-27c12106-2565-48d4-9f0f-eab0f948bd9c
  25. Then he needs to also declare it on Tegna employees who get to vote for board members.
