I don't like how stark red it is, but red is also my least favorite color. I wish KSHB would repaint their chopper, and by that I mean update their logo since they share it with KCTV. But really, how many people are looking at a station's chopper? Most of the time it's in the air and hard to identify from the ground, or it's sitting in the hangar, so updating a logo isn't that big of a deal haha.

Looks like Little Rock's KATV will be moving to a new building sometime in 3 years. Their current building will eventually be demolished and replaced by some type of medical facility. http://www.arkansasbusiness.com/article/109650/tech-park-talks-timeline-with-katv-mary-good-resigns

Why does a weekend morning newscast need to start at 5am? Is there really that much happening in Miami? It's 5am on a Saturday, most people in the city are gonna be well asleep.

Weird things at KCTV in Kansas City. 1) Weekend meteorologist Hallie Shulman is leaving for a PR job in the area. http://kcradio.robzerwekh.com/ 2) KCTV fired a staffer because apparently the KC Chiefs didn't like...a headline that was written. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/2/8/canned-in-kc 3) Their ND seems to be reaching out to new/potential new hires about openings at the station http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/2/8/thats-what-dms-are-for

Hardly. It's Chris Hayes and almost no one watches his show and let's be real, he's not that popular. He sort of comes off as a "young and upcoming know it all." Also, it's not that uncommon for job openings to be posted before someone leaves...is it?

I have friends in Belize. It's not necessarily the safest country. Very sad and unfortunate that happened.
-
I like it. Now it's NBC's turn.

It's both states. It's kind of a weird DMA as it overlaps with other markets, especially Topeka. Both Topeka and KC "claim" some counties as being in their DMA and will cover them if necessary. Depending on where you live you will easily get both markets. It's large too, ranging from the MO/IA and KS/NE borders halfway down to the OK and AR borders. Since all stations only have one transmitter, severe weather coverage in the spring can be especially frustrating if the stations are tracking a tornado near the MO/IA border that isn't affecting 99.99% of the viewing area.
-
You see, that's useful. KC's is something like 31 counties with some single digit million number of people as well. A 30+ county map on the ticker compared to 7.
-
Why wouldn't it be. Scripps creates virtually all the other graphics. It's not a bad ticker even. Much better than Hearst's which is a ribbon composed of 3 separate tickers plus the map.
-
Wow did WXYZ really just now get that weather ticker? KSHB has had it for months. I'm quite a fan of it.
-
Those spelling errors though. Wow.

Amy Hawley, weekend evening anchor at KSHB, is leaving the station at the end of the year. That place is a mess.

Seems that Today is making some gains. I haven't watched any of the Big 3 morning shows in months, so I couldn't begin to speculate on what Today is doing right (or GMA doing wrong) that could causing this gap to close some. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/morning-show-ratings-week-of-nov-16/278477 CBSTM is still the dark horse that both networks are ignoring, however. My what a storm that will be if/when the day comes CBS is suddenly #2.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
MidwestTV replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I...no. http://www.newscaststudio.com/2015/11/19/sinclair-creates-terrorism-alert-desk/ -
They cited an employee from the station in the article who expressed concern that any edits to their stories that were made may be attempts to push a partisan idea onto viewers. Additionally, it looks like Scripps might have stepped in as her Twitter no longer exists, but that doesn't mean she couldn't have made a new one. It's disappointing to see that she still has a job though. She sounds like hell to work with.

Speaking of taglines, KSHB seems to have more or less dropped their "Kansas City's Breaking News Leader" slogan. They haven't used it in their open in months (which they cut the duration by over half) and I haven't seen it in any promos for a while.
-
I think they should just drop Chris Hayes altogether.
-
It seems that KSHB has finally hired their 3rd sports person. His name is Ryan Marshall and came from WAAY-TV in Huntsville, Alabama.
-
Probably just trying to get people interested in it early so that when they finally come around they can tune in to see what all the hubbub was about. Plus they're in Brazil this time around, which means we'll be able to see a lot more events live rather than tape delayed; a big criticism of NBC's Olympic coverage.
-
Yeah, it's the special sports OTS. KSHB has been using it for a couple years now so WXYZ probably has been as well. Sports has special full screen graphics as well.

well this is weird http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/ch-28-abc-action-news-anchor-john-thomas-off-air-in-tampa-bay/2248698

NBC News and MSNBC are going to join forces for political coverage. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/nbc-msnbc-strengthen-ties-for-politics-coverage/274173 On an unrelated note, am I the only one that thinks Phil Griffin needs to go? He's been the one in charge of MSNBC during its downfall and all of its struggles, so I would imagine that someone would attribute part of the fall of MSNBC to him and get rid of him. I've thought he's needed to go for months and months now.

How is this even possible?
