  1. Sorry, but your comments are coming off to me as paranoid and slightly homophobic. I've yet to see any proof that Roberts has some "agenda" to push is "gay agenda" over the airwaves or secretly overthrow Lester. Careful how he presents himself? Roberts isn't some stereotypical flamboyant, Modern Family-like, Ru Paul's Drag Race-like gay person. He's a reporter doing his job. Anderson Cooper never used his sexuality to push agendas because Cooper has no agenda to push. Roberts promoted himself as the first gay man to anchor a broadcast (big point there) evening newscast because he is and he took pride in that, so what? It's not like he won't shut the hell up about it. Lester is the first black man to anchor a broadcast evening newscast and Katie Couric was the first woman. Other people made a big deal out of it, even if they themselves did not. I assure you, if Roberts starts acting "too gay" on TV, or viewers start complaining about it, he and NBC News will know and do something about it. It's much ado about nothing. Get back to me when Kim Kardashian starts reporting or anchoring news!
  2. well that's too bad. i'm rather fond of Natalie
  3. I'm curious to know how much they're not paying her and who she beat out. I've never seen her stuff, so I'm not going to act like she isn't qualified or anything, but it's certainly a surprise given what market she's coming from.
  4. Talk about a jump. St. Joseph, MO meteorologist Angie Lassman is moving from KNPN...to WTVJ in Miami. She's going from market 201 to 16. http://kcradio.robzerwekh.com/
  5. That's a good way to rate hashmarks. Knowing Scripps, they'd still find some way to call it a success.
  6. Petty drama is petty. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/4/19/kc-traffic-reporter-pulls-sexy-video-emails-ftvlive
  7. You know you could have reported that right?
  8. I was more focused on his near obnoxious presentation...I don't like it.
  9. While it's just a concern by some people within, so basically a rumor, why the hell would they even think about just completely ending the weekend version of CBS Evening News? That seems less than smart.
  10. oh hey a fellow meteorology student. Frankly, I don't see why an area like Chicago would need such powerful radars. A market like Oklahoma City or Tulsa would make far more sense to me, but that's just my opinion.
  11. KSHB anchor Christa Dubill says that someone was trying to record an up-skirt video of her in the grocery store. The police are investigating. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/2/29/anchor-catches-man-taking-upskirt-pictures-of-her
  12. This probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. http://1023blakefm.com/tv-news-anchor-advocates-not-watching-tv/
  13. Looks like Scripps really isn't doing so hot.. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/02/26/the-associated-press-ew-scripps-reports-4q-loss.html It's also ironic. Scripps was so CHEAP that they went off and made all sorts of decisions in an attempt to save money and eventually generate it, yet here they are now LOSING money and the company value on a steady decline. I wonder what their excuse will be this time? Their shows, like The Now, The List, etc., aren't working and have damaged many of their stations. It's all but destroyed KSHB in Kansas City. So if it continues to fail, why stick with it?
  14. Melissa Harris-Perry is very upset. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/27/business/media/melissa-harris-perry-walks-off-her-msnbc-show-after-pre-emptions.html?_r=0
  15. I don't like how stark red it is, but red is also my least favorite color. I wish KSHB would repaint their chopper, and by that I mean update their logo since they share it with KCTV. But really, how many people are looking at a station's chopper? Most of the time it's in the air and hard to identify from the ground, or it's sitting in the hangar, so updating a logo isn't that big of a deal haha.
  16. Looks like Little Rock's KATV will be moving to a new building sometime in 3 years. Their current building will eventually be demolished and replaced by some type of medical facility. http://www.arkansasbusiness.com/article/109650/tech-park-talks-timeline-with-katv-mary-good-resigns
  17. Why does a weekend morning newscast need to start at 5am? Is there really that much happening in Miami? It's 5am on a Saturday, most people in the city are gonna be well asleep.
  18. Weird things at KCTV in Kansas City. 1) Weekend meteorologist Hallie Shulman is leaving for a PR job in the area. http://kcradio.robzerwekh.com/ 2) KCTV fired a staffer because apparently the KC Chiefs didn't like...a headline that was written. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/2/8/canned-in-kc 3) Their ND seems to be reaching out to new/potential new hires about openings at the station http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/2/8/thats-what-dms-are-for
  19. Hardly. It's Chris Hayes and almost no one watches his show and let's be real, he's not that popular. He sort of comes off as a "young and upcoming know it all." Also, it's not that uncommon for job openings to be posted before someone leaves...is it?
  20. I have friends in Belize. It's not necessarily the safest country. Very sad and unfortunate that happened.
  21. I like it. Now it's NBC's turn.
  22. It's both states. It's kind of a weird DMA as it overlaps with other markets, especially Topeka. Both Topeka and KC "claim" some counties as being in their DMA and will cover them if necessary. Depending on where you live you will easily get both markets. It's large too, ranging from the MO/IA and KS/NE borders halfway down to the OK and AR borders. Since all stations only have one transmitter, severe weather coverage in the spring can be especially frustrating if the stations are tracking a tornado near the MO/IA border that isn't affecting 99.99% of the viewing area.
  23. You see, that's useful. KC's is something like 31 counties with some single digit million number of people as well. A 30+ county map on the ticker compared to 7.
  24. Why wouldn't it be. Scripps creates virtually all the other graphics. It's not a bad ticker even. Much better than Hearst's which is a ribbon composed of 3 separate tickers plus the map.
  25. Wow did WXYZ really just now get that weather ticker? KSHB has had it for months. I'm quite a fan of it.
