I can see him ending up across town in a company more suited for him...
-
A few more: WITN, WCTV, WCJB.
-
Three others with the new site today: KGNS, KBTX and KOSA. Edit: And two more. KOLO, KXII
-
KYOU appears to be the first ex-Raycom station with the new design. https://www.kyoutv.com/
-
I also noticed that WTOK has it, as does KALB, KCRG, KWTX, WBKO, WVLT and WYMT.
-
KNOE has a new website design - it's not the 2018 Raycom style either. Looks like Gray is starting something brand new. https://www.knoe.com/
-
It could be a significant upgrade in the position, like from weekends to weeknights.
-
Is that for good now, or will it go back to affiliates next weekend?
-
I wonder who next this weekend? It's tougher to pick now due to all the protests.
-
That is one other challenge. They would need to have at least a couple reporters in each community or region working from home (or perhaps a small office in Sitka and Ketchikan), although they could remotely report the stories up to the anchors in what would most likely be Juneau.

It's not a blockbuster, but...maybe Southeast Alaska will finally get its own local news? https://www.kinyradio.com/news/news-of-the-north/gci-announces-sale-of-tv-stations-in-southeast-markets/

All with different owners too. Shady tactics from Amazon probably buying the air time.
-
KOIN has already had a shot in Oregon. I agree, if a Florida station is doing it, it can't be during the peak of hurricane season without backup options, so June might work, but later in the year would need backups.
-
I wonder too if they will drop to the next tier of markets, i.e. upper-middle markets (i.e. 31 to 60) where it is all affiliates and no O&O's, but I'd think most or all capable top 30 markets (i.e. top to high markets) would get a chance first. Also, I don't think they would schedule it for Oklahoma City in the spring unless they have a backup since they could have severe weather coverage to deal with as well. I'm sure there are backup options set up anyway.

There's no indication they are for sale and that would be all rumors. They do have financial problems right now, but if the pandemic ends soon, it wouldn't be fatal. (That said, companies like Gray, Scripps, Hearst and Nexstar, and the networks themselves, are in pretty good shape and holding up without any job or salary losses).
-
Some Wall Street analyst is completely blind it sounds like - after all, it appears Scripps is one of the healthier companies right now. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/5/12/analyst-maybe-scripps-should-can-some-people

I wonder who does it next weekend? If I got to choose, I'd give it to WOIO or WBTV, followed by WTVF, so other owners get a shot too. Of the top 30 markets: 14 are O&O's and 4 are owned by Tegna, 3 by Meredith, 3 by Nexstar, 2 by Gray, 1 by Cox , 1 by Scripps, 1 by Sinclair and 1 by Graham.

I'm sure a competitor will scoop him up once the non-compete is over.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

That's true. But I know the Chief Met, especially an experienced one, is seen as the "trusted" voice. If I was there, I would have flipped to WSOC or WBTV otherwise.- 3703 replies

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/4/29/tornado-sirens-sound-and-the-chief-meteorologist-is-furloughed Apparently, there is a big question mark on WCNC's Chief Meteorologist who may have broke the furlough, even though it was certainly the responsible thing to do. He may have even stood up against his company.- 3703 replies

That's a thought for the Speculatron, and who knows.

If Gray acquiring Tegna was difficult, Nexstar would be next to impossible.- 3703 replies

Bob Iger: He's Back, and This Time, He's MAD.

We should move this thread to Speculatron? -
They should maybe let one of their smallest affiliates give it a try? I'd be curious to see it out of, say, KXGN. It might be precautionary to limit the exposure at the main Broadcast Center, since NYC is the epicenter of the outbreak.
