Yeah the 6am hour seems to be a popular one, so I guess it makes sense to put their main team on then; despite it being a lot of hours for Dan and Hazel. Also the one promo I saw seems to only show John anchoring, and Kirstin out in the field with no mention of Jill; so as of now I'd assume Kirstin and Jill are not permanent additions despite them being on now.

Yeah I don't completely understand why WCBS dropped the traffic reporter role. They had Natalie Dudridge do it for a while and then they stopped and made her a general assignment reporter ( I think in 2019). How often do Mary and Chris do traffic reports?

Apparently more changes are coming; Andy Adler tweeted that today is her last day at PIX..She said to stay tuned for her next chapter.

I just found a promo for it; it seems to only mention Dan, Hazel, and Byron starting at 6am; no mention of John, Jill or Kirstin (but assuming they'll appear at 4am); so hopefully we'll get some permanent announcements soon.

I know Erica Grow stopped freelancing a while ago to go to accuweather full time, and they now lost Marissa Torres, so definitely a shortage of meteorologists there now. When Craig originally left it was said that he would continue to freelance there, which I think now is the first time he has.

I see it both ways...Back in the morning show old days, they only had Linda Church do the entire show, but that was also before any expansion (4:30/5-9 or even 8 at the time). As they started expanding, they decided to split duties, which to me makes sense (Lisa Mateo, Rachel Frank, Chris Knowles for a time). FOX5 does have Mike Woods doing the entire broadcast, however their broadcast is also shorter. Back to PIX, I think, in retrospect, Byron's on air hours were 6-11am (with much less hits during 10-11am I believe) and Marisa's were 4:30-9/10ish (I think they stop doing traffic hits at some point in the late mornings but not entirely sure); so it was even in that sense. Of course this doesn't include any beforehand preparation. Either way I'd be fine with whatever route they took; to me the logical solution would be to just have Byron and Jill the full show time, but logic many times isn't the result. Also, I wonder what the likelihood would be of Betty going to FOX5? As seen by comments she seemed to have a following at PIX. Kind of off-topic, but they are in need of 2 morning anchors at least...

Good for Marissa, she definitely presented the weather well and seemed to be a credible source for weather info. With Marissa Torres, Amy Freeze, Geoff Bansen and others; fox weather certainly has its share of young and veteran broadcasters and meteorologists. Either way a huge loss for PIX; especially since she handled traffic and weather. Jill could do traffic as she's had that gig before but having her do the weather full time doesn't seem right.

This doesn't surprise me, but I noticed Betty is gone from the main Bio page, and it actually says this on her old bio. I just hope they give the role to Kirstin already, if she wants it.

A newscast that doesn't look like a simulcast of a cheap internet stream- a step in the right direction. I for sure miss the custom WLNY graphics and image news theme (and Alice and Dick); but if given the choice of CBS2 graphics and music vs. CBSN new york, I'd gladly take CBS2. They seem to not use "live" bugs at the top due to the rebroadcast. Reporters say "CBS2News" at the end and the mic flags seems to no longer reflect WLNY. It seems like since COVID they abandoned the idea of rebroadcasting an 8pm broadcast from the CBSN studio with Dick Brennan solo anchoring and just do it live at 9 with Maurice and Kristine. These changes likely reflect Sarah Burke taking over as ND- something tells me they might start to do away with CBSNNY brand and studio; especially since it's probably too tight to fight 2 anchors.

Yeah WNBC has 5 meteorologists, so it's likely they don't need anyone else; WCBS has their 4 so I don't see them needing anyone unless someone steps down. WNYW did have Sam Augeri as a 4th meteorologist at one point, and then they lost her back to News 12; so its possible she'd join but I don't see her giving up her WABC gig for third tier meteorologist there. PIX IMO would be the most likely option locally- I could see if Mr. G retired, Byron would take his spot, and she would be given weekday AMs or even G's spot. All just speculation for now. It's also possible she could join one of the networks as meteorologist.

Yes, correct! I did see that Kirstin mentioned the last time she anchored with Tamsen was at a station 'down the block' (hint on West 57th street haha). I think at this point well over half the people at PIX worked at WCBS at some point (Tamsen, Kirstin, Jay Down, Magee Hickey, Mary Murphy, now Hazel, formerly Suki, Jill at one point, Mr. G also at one point, I think I can go on lol).

Yeah I've been seeing a ton of comments asking for Betty; however I do agree that although they worked well- they were not the next Rosanna or Greg haha. They definitely seem to want Dan to be the face of the station (now doing the politics show Sunday AM in addition to main AM anchor)- and I think he's deserved it after his reporting days and he can balance hard news/fun segments well. Betty I think is more of a hard news anchor since her background was CNN/early Today so putting her on a lighter fare show like Pix11 morning news was an experiment. She did try her best, but I think she'll do well in the early AM with John Muller with harder news segments. I also think Hazel is another complete experiment- she's great and credible with hard news; but I don't think we've gotten to see Hazel in action with lighter/more laid back segments over at WCBS... it seems that her and Dan were good friends before, so maybe they're counting on that? Vanessa I feel did well with Dan whenever she filled in, same with Kirstin. Perhaps the answer has been right in front of them.. put Marysol Castro back in the anchor chair! Haha I loved watching her and Dan do the 4-6 show back in the day; they definitely have real chemistry. Either way if Hazel doesn't work out with Dan, I could see them switching her and Tamsen in time perhaps...

Well good to hear that Betty isn't leaving, and hopefully this was her choice... PIX definitely has a thing for demoting a lot of its main anchors (John multiple times, obviously Kaity and Jim years ago, Craig and Kala, and now Betty) so definitely not the first time this has happened. Probably related to the new ND from WCBS trying to shake things up for November sweeps. The only real consistent team has been Tamsen/Kori on evenings, which would make me think evening ratings are better than the mornings? Also as a side note I noticed the anchors still social distance at WPIX, similar to WABC- so I guess these are the only two stations still doing that

Hmm interesting- but Hazel's a great pickup for WPIX; she always was top notch filling in on the anchor desk at WCBS and she's well acclimated to New York viewers so a much deserved promotion for her! So the question again is where does Betty go? Perhaps leaving the station, perhaps not. Part of me wonders whether she's moved to early mornings with John Muller? I'm still surprised since PIX's roster currently has a lot of underutilized anchor possibilities (Shirley, Kala, Kirstin) so with Hazel also on board it makes me think somebody is leaving.

Also, I would like to think that over time, Vanessa will be assigned to more newscasts aside from 4pm; since she went from anchoring 2 1/2 hours to 1. It would be cool to see her get the 6pm with Kori.

Yeah I say if Kirstin wants the spot it should be hers! Both her and John are morning show veterans so they have a history and it shows. Vanessa's a solid anchor but she wasn't anything special with John so it will be nice to see her shine in the evenings. It seems like PIX is taking a page out of WNBC with the anchors standing; glad they're making use out of the other part of the studio.

I snooped around and found a promo! To no shock its Tamsen Fadal but Vanessa Freeman is apparently her co anchor (so her hours are 4:30am -5pm with an awkward break... sad to see that Kala, Craig and Shirley are passed up yet again

I saw tvguides have changed to reflect the 'PIX11 news at 4' starting this Monday, still no official announcement of anything so it could just be a quiet launch...

Hmm interesting. I would think if they wanted to start a 4pm newscast, their 5pm ratings would be halfway decent? It would be great if Kala and Craig were named anchors, and perhaps given the 4 and 6pm then? Craig seems to still fill in quite a bit, Kala not as much, with Shirley Chan being the main fill in anchor (who I also wouldn't mind as an anchor candidate). To me it would be total overkill to have Tamsen and Kori anchor 2 1/2 hours straight of news, but then again the morning anchors do it. To think out of the box, Kirstin Cole would be another candidate who fills in a lot on the mornings (although she is better suited for mornings).

So it appears there was a full hour CBS2 News at 7 tonight... I wonder if this is just for today or perhaps a soft launch of a newscast to compete with WNBC? It doesn't seem to be listed on guides.

Newcomer Dianna Rocco filled in this morning from 4-6, with Shirley Chan taking over the 6-9. Have to say PIX has its share of solid fill-in anchors these days. Also Kaity announced she'll be back next weekend!

Yeah I just watched the repeat on their website it was pretty weird, kala and craig couldn't be together due to lack of space in the newsroom i guess. They didn't really mention it though, and carried on as if everything was fine which is how it should be to be honest.

And based off of twitter, Marissa Torres will do weather (in addition to traffic) from 4:30-6.

I'll be honest Suki has a similar type personality to Juliet Huddy, and perhaps that's why they hired her, compared to someone like Theresa. I would definitely like to see Suki and Antwan as a team.

It honestly makes me wonder. It seems that they do well in the AM and at 10pm; I would question why they have no desire to put their money and resources into a new set. We've said it for years it needs an update desperately!!
