Someone returned to TV today. I leave this here, without context...

Ron Magers... solo opera extraordinaire

Regarding Hurricane Harvey relief, I know a few media companies have already stepped up:
* Hearst is definitely the most generous by far, with a $1 million guaranteed corporate donation and matching individual donations up to an additional $1 million.
* Both Nexstar and Tegna are holding individual relief drives but are not quite as generous yet - Tegna will match up to $100,000 and Nexstar has not publicly announced any matching donations.
* No word from anyone else yet. While the article does single out Sinclair, to be fair none of the other companies have done anything that I am aware yet.
Scripps is doing a "Taking Action For Texas" fundraiser across all of its platforms in partnership with the Red Cross.

No it's highly unlikely because WPIX would then beat them in that time slot.
Never mind.... you missed my point.
-
Nope. Lara is with the network for GMA and has a side deal with HGTV hosting and producing shows. Sam was with the The Weather Channel until leaving at the end of 2016.
Then that's why it's unlikely. You have to hire them both first.
-
Unlikely because it's awful or was there another reason?
Are either of them actually at WABC currently?

The new Kellie Pickler and Ben Aaron talk show has a title - "Pickler and Ben" - and it will debut on September 18. Below is the link of affiliates carrying the program.
Well Dr. Oz is out on WXYZ...
-
WXYZ has added Alan Campbell as a Reporter. He was last at KRGV in Weslaco, TX.

The fact that people run in here every couple months with "I THINK SCRIPPS IS CHANGING THEIR PACKAGE!!!!!" only to found out that other stations have been doing the same thing for months or years, is testament to how many options this package makes available to stations.
I wonder if it's the most versatile package out there?

-
It's part of the Original package... WXYZ has used this as its main L3 since 2012...
-
Isn't "Newsedge" how several FOX O&O's brand their 11/10 p.m. newscasts?
Yes... WJBK brands theirs as "The Edge" and they are the only ones to do so that I know of... I think Newsedge @x is the normal...
-
Well, that makes no sense. Maybe he was busy later this morning, but you'd think Tracy would've done the early half after Larry worked the 10 last night.
That's called sleeping in...

If you have to "fly colors" during the July book...it's like saying ...
"Ha, Ha...you had to go to summer school !!"...
Totally embarrassing!
All the other stations get to skate thru the summer with the May numbers...and YOU gotta work !!
Oh specifically July... no never mind we are spared the humiliation...
-
Another shocker is Scripps giving away cash in Tulsa, San Diego,PHX and God knows what other markets...
During July.
That indicates the May book was awful...the pits....dreadful.....in all those markets(DMA)
Detroit too... has been for over a year in sweeps...
-
Is this a sign of new L3's coming soon?
No... those are promo graphics that have been out for a few months (February I think)... WXYZ just started doing this too a couple days ago... it doesn't match anything....

Damn, that's a big jump for Leigh. Kudos.
But how many investigative reporters do they need? Is Jim or Nina leaving or being reassigned?
That's only 13 or 14 markets... not a big jump...
-
Damn, he's been doing this for 449 years?!
Yes... his first reports were filed about Galileo and his telescope...

Philly native Aaron Baskerville currently a Reporter and fill in weekend anchor at WXYZ in Detroit is joining NBC 10 as a Reporter in August.

Apparently WPLG aired blurred footage of an alligator eating the body of a missing student pilot in the Everglades. The studen took off on an unaccompanied flight on Sunday and the wreckage was found Wednesday. That was when the WPLG bird got the footage.
Seems to be in extremely poor taste.
Do the stations in Miami still share helicopters (save for WSVN)?
Haven't you seen the original Jurassic Park?

I wouldn't say the comparison is unfair. It's more of a reflection of ever-changing viewership trends. Plus, the viewership pie at 10P is small (and tends to get even smaller during the summer.)
Right but are they really the same viewers?
-
Be careful what you wish for.
You mean the next guy might not make good decisions or decide to nuke the current marketing style in one or more slots? Say it isn't so...

Today in unfair comparisons...
http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/07/05/robservations-univision-scores-10-p-m-news-victory/
Comparing English and Spanish language newscast ratings (which attract different audiences by default) seems fishy... my guess is that Feder mailed that in based on a press release Univision sent him...

Somebody new named Kristin Byrne is doing traffic for Roz Varon this morning. According to a TVNT member, she came from WEWS.
Yes, she was an Anchor / Reporter at WEWS and today was her first day...
-
Brian Abel has moved from KSHB to WXYZ where he is a reporter. I saw him for the first time tonight... needs some work but he'll catch on...

It probably wouldn't happen, but I would laugh if Gray were to acquire the NBC affiliation for another WTVG subchannel.
Anybody else feel terrible for the fairly good on her feet Meteorologist who keeps running into these rather mindless issues?
