  1. Well another year another bizarre promo for WXYZ's coverage as the official station of the North American International Auto Show. The coverage is very mature... the promos are really strange. Why did they put Oh Yeah on the screen in big letters towards the end? What is that line even there for? The promo is significantly toned down from last year thanks in part to a change in their Creative Services management. WXYZ also has a new severe weather ticker which is at the top of the screen: Previously this was a red ticker at the bottom that simply scrolled along with a county/radar map in the upper right corner. The ticker didn't have logo's or anything on it and neither did the map. It was as bare bones as it gets. Finally WXYZ just put out this 30 second promo for their news brand and it's commitment to Detroit:
  2. Nothing Earth shattering here but for the sake of completeness WLS will be airing a syndicated show called "Tapping in with Linda Swain" on Sunday, January 3rd at 2pm. It'll have 3 more episodes in 2016 a new one of which will air quarterly. 3rd item down the list: http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/7868-news-notes-fox-32-mark-strehl-abc-7-dolly-mccarthy-scott-childers-rich-warren-barry-butler-670-the-score-more
  3. Haven't had that here... Some wardrobe consultant has quite a network...
  4. Glad to see she's getting into the realm of Louisville weekend morning meteorologist... It's a noteworthy amount of improvement... Honestly... 7 is doomed in the weather department if she doesn't get a lot of coaching quickly... She's under qualified as it is but you can't front her as the lead meteorologist with a thin resume and limited talent to begin with.. They've made several unforced management mistakes lately... It's emblematic of why sooner or later Channel 7 is going to outright lose their demo lead to 5...
  5. They didnt do any 11pm live shots about some unfortunate incident?
  6. Mr. Jones got a little drunk with that one...
  7. "Styles" reminds me... Someone I talked with that worked at all 5 original ABC stations described the styles of the stations like this: WABC is probably the most flamboyant of them and can be a little over the top. Then you have KABC and WXYZ which have about the same basic style and were always managed the same (which is oddly still true for the most part despite the sale of WXYZ 30 years ago) . KGO is much softer... WLS on the other hand is way way stiffer than the others... This would apply to promos too of course. Personally I would be happy to see WLS become more middle of the road in its style. Doom and gloom worked better 10-15 years ago I think... With 5 now nipping at their heels how much longer can you stay stiff and complacent and just hope it keeps working? Something has to evolve at some point I would think...
  8. It's certainly timely given the warm weather... But that's much softer than they usually are...
  9. It's been awhile since I put anything up but the dizzying unnecessarily moving vertical promos WXYZ has been putting out seemed worth showing: This one is for their "Taking Action For You" reporter Ronnie Dahl released in July, this one started the trend of not being really clear or one solid image: This one is for their Investigative unit from September: Weather released just tonight, pretty well written relative to the recent ones they've put out and toned down from the other two probably at the behest of their brand new CSD:
  10. Then you know those political ad dollars are about to be very hot... I don't know if this lasts beyond the election given what 32 is in the market...
  11. The ratings have been in steady free fall in most markets and timeslots for years...
  12. Buzzkill... But yeah... Local news is dying not growing despite the optical illusion.
  13. Can anyone else think of an anchor anywhere else in their 80's?
  14. Not bad although the images could been less jerky... They definitely covered all bases like you said...
  15. I'm sorry you don't like my posts... My suggestion is that you not read them then...
  16. I didn't complain... I was pointing something out... Back off. You have no reason to come after me at all. Smart discussions on specific topics is bs...
  17. Not everybody watches Family Guy... If it's a newer episode say after 2010 then they are not very good and fewer people would get the joke...
  18. I wasn't meaning to go there except to say there isn't as much to cover as there has been in areas that got out of hand. As uncomfortable as this fact is A riot would be good for ratings, probably very good. How has it been covered on 7 anyways (I haven't had any time to peek at it the last couple days).
  19. These protests have been pretty gentle it seems... Good for the city... Not so good for sweeps.
  20. Oh yeah.. That could certainly be a problem. Hopefully the protests die down a bit. On the bright side they don't have very far to go to get a live shot...
  21. Shut the shades would be my guess... The protests don't sound out of control... Just distracting.
  22. The year over years tell the story... Month to month isn't a good measure...
  23. What's with the 360 camera link? 7 is starting to show signs of audience fatigue and also that it and 9 in part share an audience...
  24. Has Troy ever done the later stuff? It seems like I've seen him later. I know I wasn't up that early...
  25. Troy does them on the weekend mornings. I meant 11am.. the Noon is gone. It was moved to 11am beginning in the early Fall.
