Winston Broadcasting Network Cleveland/Akron
TheRolyPoly replied to CLETVFan's topic in Corporate Chat
Round 1 goes to the perverted televangelist. I say perverted because he is accused of those acts against men. Its just a mess. -
WOW. Well, what does it say? I don't have the paywall access so I wouldn't know. Changing the subject and in a sad way... Say hello to Paul James for me, Bob Welti. Dick Nourse is all we got left. https://www.ksl.com/article/46567000/longtime-ksl-weatherman-bob-welti-dead-at-94

It doesn't say if its WTVT or not. It could be another station. How do you know its WTVT? Besides, WTVT is probably FOX's strongest O&O they got.
-
They've been using that for weeks now. Its not really that bad!
-
The majority start at 8am ET/5am PT, some at 9am ET/6am PT and even WHIO Dayton airs it at 10am.
-
KCBA is in Salinas/Monterey and is FOX. You probably meant KBCA.
-
I didn't see that coming but you know what that means... WIS News 10 from 7-9am and 10-11pm.
-
From Connecticut, anchored at WWLP Springfield, Mass., no surprise she's going back home.
-
Nope. She always stays at one station in a market for just a few years and then leaves to go somewhere else and then after a few years, leaves to go somewhere else. She never likes staying at one place. Five years in Philly, three in Los Angeles (KNBC), four in Houston (KHOU), few years in New York (WNYW), six years in Detroit (WJBK; the longest place she's ever been at IIRC) and a few in San Francisco (KGO).

Sorry to double post, but when seven people have left one station in eight months, it means something's going on at the station. That station is WHNS Greenville, S.C. and two more people are leaving the station and yes, that includes main anchor and a longtime recognized face to the station (and to the market, having previously spent 8 years at WSPA), Diana Watson. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2019/5/23/two-anchors-out-in-greenville

Hasn't been mentioned here yet... Dick Ellis, a longtime Austin journalist mainly working at KTBC FOX 7 Austin and KVUE 24 Austin and most recently, news director at 99.3 KOKE Austin, has passed away at 69 after complications related to colon cancer. http://www.fox7austin.com/news/local-news/longtime-austin-journalist-passes-away-at-69 https://www.statesman.com/news/20190522/longtime-austin-broadcast-journalist-tv-anchor-dick-ellis-dies-at-69

Now that Monica Malpass has suddenly left WPVI tonight after 31 years, in honor... my favorite blooper between Rick and Monica (they spent 29 years anchoring together. Morning and then 5pm):
-
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! YOU GOTTA BE F***ING KIDDING ME! Not in my wildest dreams did I see Monica leave WPVI this sudden. I thought she would leave in another 4-5 years from now but not now! I'm really shocked.

Via The Orlando Sentinel: I've watched lots of Central Florida News over the years going on vacations and I will say this with confidence and @MikePulse may agree with me here. Pat Clarke is THE greatest sportscaster in the history of Central Florida broadcasting. Nobody has done it better than Pat, nobody has represented sports better than Pat and he is just a legend in the market. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up going to WKMG or Spectrum News 13.

Hello Paul! (JK! Even I know this is Ron)
-
Since 2003 in fact.
-
Not surprised... Gray selling KEYU to Alpha. Gray will probably sell KTXC to Alpha too. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/176887/alpha-media-acquires-keyu-fm-amarillo/

I'm on mobile so I don't have links... Your Money is a business channel in Australia, partnered up with Nine and Sky to provide business news and personal finance advice. It replaced the long running Sky News Business Channel and sorta launched with great fanfare back in October of last year. Not even a year in... the channel goes out of business after Friday. The venture was too unstainable for the companies to continue to collab on and now the space previously occupied by Sky News Business (launched in 2008, I think?) will be gone forever. Sky will still have Sky News Live, Sky News Weather and Sky News Extra. Let's take more good care of Your Money because we shelved out too much of Your Money out of a sinking ship (the TV channel) that will never be recovered. The Guardian has posted about it but I'm on mobile so I can't provide links as fast as I used too.

I think James will mean 7-9am if WFTS wants to fill the two hours between its early morning (4:30-7:00am) and mid-morning (9:00-10:00am) newscasts.
-
So has WFTV, WSOC and WPXI.
-
He's NOT leaving WCVB. He's going part time as he'll remain for special assignments, major sports events and other things including High 5 and its annual Thanksgiving special.
-
So wait KMGH has long stopped doing its 24/7 News Channel there on 7.4?
-
Or how WHIO gets away with airing the Mountain Time feed of CBS: TM-Saturday
-
Say hello to Chet Curtis, Tony Pepper, Gary LaPierre, Don Kent, John Henning, Dick Albert and plenty more up there for me.

Retirement. It's a bad kept secret but that's what it is. Mel Showers will be retiring from WKRG. Not many anchors can claim to have worked for 50 years in just one station. Don Alhart and Dave Ward are the only ones I can think of right now.
