With the recent shooting at a San Diego area Synagogue, KFMB, CBS-8 San Diego, has decided to not use the name or image of the alleged shooter in stories until the legal proceedings occur.  They state that victims (those injured or just present at the shooting) can be traumatized by the repeated use of the shooter's name or photo.

I have not seen any other San Diego station do the same.

So is KFMB going to do this in all shooting cases?

Just asking...since I don't want anyone else "traumatized" by the faces of shooting suspects.

I did not realize KUSA still had in-house master? Wonder how that will work with all their translators.

    Good question...

I would love to see a path map and equipment breakdown for those sites and how all those are fed and managed. I love the stories about these little translator districts and how they manage to import OTA TV pictures hundreds of miles away with just an old microwave transmitter and a few paper clips.

Now you have to have all the subchannels and super dooper dolby sound (where available).

The best evening host post that era has perhaps been Brian Williams who unfortunately messed up his career.

Likewise, since Dan Rather messed up and got axed the CBS Evening News hasn't been the same. '

Both men were caught lying about stories...

    Good Riddance!

That's the time when the website's live stream starts working. Five minutes before the next news broadcast. It's on all the Tegna sites.

Oh that reminds me of our old Admiral 19inch Color TV that needed about 3 minutes for the tubes to warm up, and come to life.

    Ohhh....The Glow....

I believe so. It’s a commercial station and I imagine if the university completely subsidized its operation the others would complain to the FCC.

They could always have a bake sale...if the budget gets cut.

    * weekday programming.

WTTG airs opinion programming at 7pm and a political show at 11:30pm so its not entirely news in those timeslots.

Is it produced by the news department...or by the opinion department?

What happened to Dani Ruberti at KUSI (San Diego)?   She has not been on the air the last two weekends (Dave Scott has done both morning and evening weather reporting) and her bio is no longer on the website.  KUSI also has a job opportunity  for a Weather Anchor/Reporter.

    She only lasted 11 months...

And why is Lisa Remillard still sitting on the beach ?

    https://www.kusi.com/kusi-tv-on-lisa-remillards-new-position-with-soccercity/

Not a good year for USC Trojans at KUSI.

Dani went silent 2 weeks ago, and judging by KUSI standards it must have been really , really bad to keep it sooooo quiet.

It might be an "A-P-R" situation:

    "Attitude"...

    "Porn"...

    or "Rehab".

  9. I expect the FCC lawyers and the Sinclair lawyers to stipulate that Sinclair pays  a reasonable (pre-agreed ) fine ,and promise not to do it again.

    And that's all.

    No drama...no nothing.

Just a fine...and everyone moves on.

    Seriously folks...

Where are the "victims" in this dastardly affair?

It's big business, and that's the price you pay when you play with real money ...in the real world.

    Oh that is sooooo pretty!

    It's a  2018 bell 505 Jet Ranger X....here are the flight specs.

      https://www.helis.com/database/cn/49947/

Interesting choice with an omni antenna. Looks like the camera and microwave antenna is easily removable for maintenance or change-outs with another airship.

Would love to see more on this bird...hey @rkolsen do you have any details on this beauty?  Any tech specs out there yet???

    I will miss Rich...

Poor guy got pretty beat-up emotionally lately with the passing of Van Amburg,  the suicide of Cumulus/ KGO-AM810,  and finally the passing last year of his mother.

It's hard to make money off a local blog.  He gave it a good go and got some juicy exclusives... and he sure pissed off some folks.

I hope he comes over here and joins us at TVNT.

  14. Black Pink USA debut blows away GMA...

Korean KPOP Girl Group "Black Pink" had their USA debut this morning on GMA.

In just 17 hours after the show the youtube views have blown away just about any other GMA segment out of the water in views.

GMA Youtube views were at 1.1 million...
The KGO San Francisco YT site showed 1.25 million views in just 17 hours.

Average views to the GMA pieces are around 1.5k

That has to be a record for GMA and YT views for a single segment.

Update...2.5 million views on just the KGO-7 YT site in under 36 hours.

Jenni, La Lisa, Jisoo and Rose slaying it....

I hope the suits at ABC are paying attention to these bombshell view numbers...cuz Black Pink's in YOUR area...

No legitimate news sources have covered it.  A meteorite hits land fairly often and unless it’s a large size, like in Russia that blasted out windows, it probably isn’t news worthy. Ontop or the crisis in Venezuela news crews are likely to avoid the country for their safety or stay in urban areas.

I was not aware the legitimacy of the story was ever in question.

Citizens and  regular people ARE legit news sources. They are the most organic of sources as they are the first witness...not some "unnamed source".

Is that why NBC,FOX,CNN and all the others are not covering it?

Is somebody or some agency calling this fake?

I think any time flaming rocks fall from space causing fires on the ground...and children to run in terror it's considered "newsworthy".

    EDIT: Snip....

In the end....@rkolsen was right...nobody cared except the poor Venezuelans who had the hunger scared out of them. Amazing the US networks completely ignored it...not that we really need to be reminded that flaming stuff from space can wipe us all out real quick.

Denver's independent television station KCDO-TV 3, owned by Newsweb Corporation, announced today (01/31) that they will carry NewsNet on a part-time basis on their main channel 3.1. This will be the news channel's only full-power television affiliate. Source: http://yournewsnet.com/where-to-see-newsnet/

Congrats on your new affiliate and here's to your future growth.

We have a lot of critics here...but they all mean well.

The most important part is that you have a little fun while you live this start-up experience.

I thought pretty much anything a station submits that isn’t a pool is embargoed in the DMA.

Stations will strip the package and do all kinds of weird stuff.  There other reasons to embargo however thats the most common and obvious one. There is really no need to embargo a KPRC reporter package to other stations in the DMA because they would never air it anyway.

The visual warning is placed to prevent local unauthorized users and from stations taking some elements from the package that they didn't buy.

It's basically saying "You have been warned!"

It's not really too enforceable if some user decides to break the rules.

    cnn newsource says: Embargo:Houston, TX...

so... do they cut stories from the locals when they're embargo'd there??? KPRC might not be too happy this aired...

The story was probably embargoed because it contained some exclusive or stringer footage that some of the local Houston CNN affiliates didn't get the rights to inside the Houston(DMA) market.

Example: If a local freelancer photographer offers to sell the video to all the local stations...but a few stations decide NOT to purchase the video. Those local stations cannot just decide "poach" the video (off the national newssource feeds) if that video is also offered for sale nationally on Newssource.

    I hope that makes sense.
