I'm afraid to ask. Let's hope that they're doing their due diligence with the maintenance of that chopper...

Annual Inspection? or Annual tear down of the engine?

    Ya....that stuff.
  2.

General Hospital moves to the 11am slot and 2PM is used for Good Afternoon America.

But at 11am... I watch sexy Rachel and Manuella on PIR.

    Dopey me.....

    PIR is at 10a

  3.

The only person I would beg to come back is Meredith Vieria- Maybe Joy as well. I would have kept Nicolle full time and maybe added a more fiery conservative to the panel. At this point, asking for Barbara to come back would be a mistake. Does anyone remember just how much of a pissy b*tch she was in her last season on The View? No thanks.

Oh my God, I am soooo stupid...

    "Can we get Catlin Jenner"?

(i'm running like hell out of here now before I get killed)

  4.

And you know Scripps is salivating at the prospect of the political money coming in next year...

    _________

Maybe they will finally go with ABC 10 [News] in the fall. When the debut their new programming at 4pm

You just handed it to them...on a silver platter...

Watch them do something Scripps mandated, and totally stupid.

    BTW...

Did you see that Itica placed her ifb/mic pacs in her butt area tonight?

looked pretty bad in the on-set stand-up.

  5.

There are a few producer positions open on their jobs page. Nothing to indicate that they will be adding a 4pm newscast. They could slide Dan Haggerty over to the desk from the stupid "Live Center". He's under-utilized in that role. So they could be paired: Itica & Dan at 4/6pm, Kim & Steve at 5/7/11pm.

That makes a lot more sense than Tyra flopping...and it gives you another hour of local avails/news for political ads.
  6.

Whoopi wants to see Whoopi "on the beach". Problem is she wants to be paid to be "on the beach". With all the reports out there from last year, she's been trying to get out of that contract for a while, but knows that if she does she loses a nice $5mill... Barbara only has a very small stake in the show now. I don't think she is calling the shots, let alone negotiating talent contracts. This is a big reason why the show has been in a freefall. Had she retained control of the show, there would have been some stability at the very least.

    Let's play programming exec....

    What would you do?

The only stipulation is you cannot give back the hour to local.

My decision would be to beg Baba to come back in a final "hail mary" attempt to milk that thing to the end of the big contracts.

    3yr maximum.

What would the rest of you do?

  7. You already got the bodies to do the newscast, and you don't have to deal with Oprah.

    What will cost more?

    Tyra?

    News?

    How about an hour of......

    Cat Videos!!!!

    (gunshot)

  8.

Whoopi is owed a reported $5mill next year... Even though the ratings are down, The View still has name/brand recognition. Would they be able to make the same amount of money with a new show than they do with The View? I'm not saying they won't cancel the show, it just won't be done this year. Also, i'm not sure how and what role the affiliates have if/when the show gets cancelled. Do they get a say in what replaces it? do they get that hour for themselves?

I know the network has knocked around the Idea of another hour of GMA.

In the olden days when the nets paid the affiliates they had some say. Now all they can really do is bitch and moan.

I'm strictly going on the boiler plate scenarios...and baba wawa is pretty savy so there may be some non-traditional contracts.

You CAN be sure ABC will milk it to the bitter end to avoid the payouts....

because who the hell want's to see Whoopi "on the beach".

KGTV has a slot at 7:30p.....gasp.

  9.

KFMB aired a promo announcing the arrival of Inside Edition to the 7:30pm timeslot in the fall (moving over from KGTV). Leading to speculation as to what KGTV will replace it with (it currently airs at 4pm there). The Now San Diego, perhaps?

My understanding was that KGTV and KERO were both spared from "The Now" because of being on the west coast and unable to really meet the time constraints of the east/central time zone.

But I bet we can all expect something lame.....

    Or

What about another half hour of the award winning 10-News???

Seeing that some mucky muck report this week that there is growth in tv newscast at 4:30am and 7pm slots.

Granted a .01% increase is still "growth".

    Nothing would surprise me.

  10.

    Because they have contractual obligations...

Pretty sure ABC can cancel it anytime they want.

True there are contractual obligations with the talent so ABC would probably have to eat the remainder of those contracts and pay them off.

  11.

Chances are if Sinclair or Nexstar tried to buy WWJ/WKBD, they probably wouldn't start with news right away, given Viacom/CBS's failures to establish a news department. Of course, Sinclair already owns plenty of stations in Michigan, while Nexstar has no Michigan presence. Even with WEVV returning to the news game come next month, WWJ, along with Sinclair-owned WTWC, would still be the only stations among others still without news, and that's one heck of anamoly that many of us in this forum are still trying to figure out. Hope I'm wrong about this.

Lets say WXYZ or another local news operation produced the newscast for WWJ/WKBD. How would you feel about that?

  12.

Why can't CBS sell WWJ/WKBD to another broadcast group? That's the one question everyone's want to know. But, in my opinion; I would wish to see CBS

return to WJBK, however 'JBK is stuck like glue with FOX. But I was thinking maybe; just maybe CBS could work on either WPXD 31 or on WADL 38. My two cents.

Detroit cannot support another news outlet. It's just like newspapers, over the next few years you can expect to see TV news operations go dark...just like the papers.
  13.

The reason I brought it up was because they aired an ESPY promo with Steve Atkinson, and he said to watch his reports on ABC 10 news. Also, the 11am teaser during The View, had ABC 10 News on the L3.

    Yeah...

So far nothing unusual 20mins into the 11am show.... but they may be starting with the imaging first and working the way down to the news stuff.

  14.

She's actually done pretty well at the desk. She was not given too much of a chance to fill in, but i'm sure she will improve the more she anchors.

Speaking of KGTV, have they branded themselves fully as ABC 10 News now?

The only thing I have noticed is reporter Marie Coronel has discovered false eyelashes. She look like she is about to fly away.

The branding in the 11am show seems the same as usual. No different sig-outs or changes in the normal scripting.

  15. KGTV traffic reporter Natasha Zouves heading to KGO as weekend anchor.

This according to Rich Lieberman 415 media.

I personally think she is very green and the KGO staff will eat her up, and spit her out.

Time for Scripps to send out another Zonie.

  16. I thought I read recently that the company that aggregates the videos from youtube, and others...was being sued by FOX and some others over the "fair use "clause.

The funny thing is the people that are suing, are also clients of this company.

The fair use of certain clips, was decided in the 90's in Tur v KCAL in federal court. Bob(Zoey) Tur won that case.

KCAL was accused of stealing the Reginal Denny beating video by claiming "fair use".

Could we see an end to the cheap "clip shows'?

  17. That's pretty bad ass. Margret Radford had 2 pkgs in that cast. Most people don't know that Jack White was the Technical Advisor for the movie Anchorman. White had Co-Anchored with Harold Greene AKA "Ron Burgundy".

The OTS's were all on 35mm slides.

And Ocean Ave WAS closed to cars for good, it's now part of the Pacific/Mission Beach Boardwalk.
