From what I could tell on the West Mass News Open vs the WABC open, the color scheme looks very the same as WABC but obviously the way WABC did the open is totally different compared to what Western Mass News did. A good example of that would the way the animations of the graphics is done at WGGB vs the way WABC does theirs. My conclusion is that yes it's syndicated but because of the way the color scheme looks the boxes are used for one third of the screen in the beginning the news open, you could say it's a ripoff but I'd say its 50/50

Good to hear that your position didn't get axed

Meanwhile the layoffs at Nexstar continue to pile up, this time around it's in Kansas City with WDAF. 10 people at WDAF including an Editor who has been on their morning newscast for years and reporter Ashonti Ford (who left the station late last month after joining WDAF this past August) Hopefully @TheRob is okay and his position didn't get axed

I watched maybe a minute or so of the Facebook Live stream and the anchor Mike McDaniel litterally said they were going to make things up as they go along. Look I get it, the weather graphics wasn't working but come on, at least look somewhat professional, when I heard that I had to stop watching the stream

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is a prime example of what simulcasting a newscast looks like for a junior partner (in this case it's WYOU ironically a CBS affiliate, most of their news comes from simulcasts with WBRE)
-
Essentially what @scrabbleship is saying, is that WTTV would virtually not have a news department (except for maybe news simulcasts with WXIN but that'd be it) otherwise they'd be just like WWJ

As always it's a typo error on the part of Mr. Jones
-
Just checked the article and Scott Jones fixed that typo

Assuming that this is true and everything else, Sinclair at least in Oklahoma City (and potentially the state of Oklahoma itself) may very well be in even more hot water than what they already are with the whole lack of candor stuff because for one they don't own KFOR/KAUT and two, they DIRECTLY compete against KFOR/KAUT (via KOKH/KOCB) Wouldn't be surprised to see lawsuits and investigations come from this IF this is accurate (and I generally take Scott's reports with a grain of salt) This may be one of the big stories as we head into 2020 and IF true this won't be the end of the whole Sinclair/Nexstar monkey business in Oklahoma City. Also FTVLive noted that Nexstar also yesterday, gave the axe at WGHP in the Triad and the Denver duopoly of KDVR and KWGN respectively. Now that I think about it when I reread the article clearly it was a typo on Scott Jones' part (as usual), THIS is why whenever Scott reports on anything until reliable, credible sources confirms the story with substance, it must be taken with a grain of salt

I'd be very interested to see how Hemmer does in that hour, I do wonder if he'll lead the Special Reports and Breaking News coverage for Fox or will that go to somebody else?

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

Exactly what I figured to be the case. At least WFMY has gotten creative to make up for losing the 7am hour of the Good Morning Show- 3706 replies

I consider the Bay Area to be a seperate region from the rest of Northern California, yes KTXL won't be the only ones with 7pm news but as far as the entire Northern California region not named the Bay Area yes they will be the only ones with 7pm news
-
Nexstar is at it again with these newscast expansions. This time it's in California with KTXL launching a 7pm newscast and according to TV News Check, they will be the only ones with 7pm news in Northern California not named the Bay Area https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/241812/ktxl-sacramento-expands-its-local-news/
-
They'll just simply simulcast the newscast with WKCF, it's not like they're launching a newscast specifically for Estella TV. Probably a few at first.

WXII has put in a lot of effort into the newscasts on WCWG so they might have something to say. Either way this is a big blow to WFMY losing the 7am hour but I'd be curious about how well the Good Morning Show was doing in the 7am hour especially against the likes of WGHP and WCWG (via WXII)- 3706 replies

I wouldn't be surprised to see more viewers flip over to WXII and WGHP going forward especially with the loss of both the 7am newscast and Andy Griffith- 3706 replies

I feel like moving the 7am newscast to 9am would've been the better option, move Daytime Jeopardy to an overnight slot air DBL at 12 (I think they do provide a feed for that slot) and just bump Ellen to 3. Because the way I view their new schedule now, the Four 2 Five is not going to get very good ratings because their lead-in is not that good.- 3706 replies

That too would be an option. Eitther way I don't see an end of The Good Morning Show in the 7am hour, I think Tegna should recognize that this is a piece of history in the Piedmont Triad- 3706 replies

They could certainly do that or once CBS starts rolling out the localized versions of CBSN beyond the O&Os, WFMY restores the 7am hour at that point when they launch their own version of CBSN. I know CBS hasn't said they'll roll out the localized CBSN's to groups like Tegna but it would make sense for CBS to do that.- 3706 replies

And see that's where the bad part comes in for WFMY, they don't have a duopoly partner to be able to continue the 7am newscast and I think this is where WFMY will likely lose some of the viewers in the morning to stations like WGHP and WXII/WCWG- 3706 replies

This one here is as @TheRolyPoly described it on his blog is historic a quote from the article So this is significant in a sense that this will now leave Griffin's KOTV as the only CBS affiliate in the country to run CBS This Morning out of pattern. I imagine this has to have been part of the new affiliation agreement between CBS and Tegna and apparently like what CBS did to Gray's WTOC, essentially told WFMY to run CTM in pattern, which is a shame.- 3706 replies

Meanwhile in Orlando, WESH 2 is going to start doing a simulcast of the 10pm newscast on Estella TV Orlando, and they already simulcast the 5pm newscast with WESH itself. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv-guy/os-et-wesh-10-pm-news-estrella-simulcast-20191126-exocykg6tvhdzgawqaixvkljda-story.html#nt=oft-Triple Chain~Feed-Driven Flex Feature~section-a~story-b~~1~yes-art~automated~curatedpage

Absolutely and somewhat to this day they still do with it's newer graphics package that has since carried over to KOTV as well

I'm gonna say the template KFOR had in the old building for their set may have lasted for nearly THREE decades AND it survived 4 different ownerships (Palmer, New York Times, Local TV, Tribune) among other things. Oh and it survived through 2 tornadoes (June 1998, May 2003)

I'd have to read the article but if I had to take an educated guess it looks as if WATL is shifting MyNetworkTV programming to 11pm-1am
