Haven't seen an official confirmation, but someone mentioned in the WCBS thread that "News Now" may be cancelled soon, with the weekend editions officially scrapped. Will local stations then just regain control of their sister stations again? Pure speculation for now, since I haven't seen any article/source to confirm yet.
The original source was Scott Jones’ Patreon, so I’m going off that until I see official confirmation or proven otherwise. -

Looks like they're no longer doing the 9pm news broadcast on weekends. The schedule shows Magnum PI on Saturday and SEAL Team on Sunday. It's still on the weekday schedule.
CBS is reportedly sunsetting News Now at the end of next month. The weekend editions of the show have been cancelled, which gives credence to this.- 4

Looks like WKBD is about to return to the News scene, and their newscasts will be produced by WWJ.
Question is, will their newscasts be called CBS News Detroit or will it be called WKBD News, powered or streaming on CBS News Detroit??
They’ll be called CBS News Detroit. WKBD is not KCAL.Also, don’t be surprised if WKBD simulcasts the 7-9am streaming block of their morning newscast in the fall.

It seems Pacific Time takes a little more liberty with things because of the delay, yet keeps primetime mostly on Eastern's schedule (aside from some "early prime" experiments over the years)
It’s why KCBS can air CBS Mornings twice from 4-6am and 7-9am. -
FTVLive is reporting that the new and existing independent stations (minus Tampa and Seattle) will be going news-heavy (similar to KCAL) this fall. He also reports that CBS is ending the hybrid local-national NOW newscast in August.

What is up with these soap actors getting jobs as news anchors? First Charles Divins (Chad on "Passions") gets a job anchoring mornings at WDSU and now this.
Lowder is also part of the revolving door of the many Rick Forresters of "The Bold and the Beautiful".
Divins is now at Spectrum News 1 Texas.- 2

Is this a one-time thing or is this permanent? It's pretty cool to see the retro graphics again. Wish they'd have Allen Jackson's voice on the LOT8's again.
Looks to be permanent, as it’s scheduled for next week as well. There’s another automated program on TWC’s schedule, Twilight LIVE (presumably using the same night maps seen on Pattrn and TWC en Espanol) which airs right after it.

You have to wonder about the future of the late night talkers, especially with election season around the corner.

Ryan Seacrest is Pat Sajak's successor.

The classic LOT8s is back (sort of)…but you’ll have to get up very early to see it.
