As previously reported by another poster here, KVUE/Austin has picked up Tamron, which hadn’t been airing in Austin since it was dropped by KEYE. (Even though her hometown, Luling, is in the Austin DMA.) Interestingly, it won’t be airing in Ellen’s spot at 4p. Instead, they’ve stuck it at 2p. Daily Blast Live, which had been at 2p, moves to 3p and Inside Edition/Extra move from 3p to 4p. Not a great lead-in to the 5p news, IMHO. I foresee a drop in ratings.

I don't get the pessimism on here about this. The soaps have run their course. We've all known that for the better part of two decades now. NBC's also not going to replace it with any other kind of conventional program like another tired talk show. NBC News Now is a really high quality product, and this is a great opportunity to get traditional TV audiences to sample it. Somebody's finally going to try a true midday national newscast. I also don't think this is that much of a competitor response to GMA3 – that show is garbage, whereas NBC News Now is actual news.

 

It's not going to be pretty though when word gets back to the Days of Our Lives audience that their beloved show is moving to some far-flung internet outlet. I would not want to be answering phones at an NBC affiliate this fall, as that is a very small but pretty rabid fanbase. I remember whenever NBC would pre-empt DOOL for something else, such as the Olympics, the French Open or a news special report, a DOOL fan would call in and accuse *us,* not NBC, of pre-empting DOOL and would threaten to call NBC to get them to pull our affiliation. Lol.

It’s honestly a matter of time before CBS moves both Bell serials to Paramount+ in favor of a CBS News Streaming-produced midday news hour.

So, the new newscast length (at least for WCBS) is one hour, the first half on TV and streaming, the second half on streaming only.

As I predicted, KDFW is airing Jennifer Hudson at 1pm, replacing Nick Cannon.

I'm hearing that statement is not accurate. NBC is not relinquishing the time slot back to affiliates. It is the ability for stations to add local news into the national show, not cover up the national broadcast with a local newscast. Think of it like the five-minute station breaks during the Today Show (7:25, 7:55, etc.) where local stations do news and weather.

GMA3 already does this, allowing ABC affiliates to do a quick news update before the second half of the show.

With preseason starting tonight with the Hall of Fame Game, NBC has debuted a new logo for Football Night in America. Assuming a new SNF logo is coming a bit later, as well.

According to Vulture, NBC is moving Days Of Our Lives to Peacock this fall, and replacing it with a new midday newscast, NBC News Daily.
