WUAB in Cleveland has sold its transmitter, but will remain on the air. The station will move to WOIO's transmitter. http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2017/02/channel_43_will_remain_on_the_air_only_its_transmitter_was_sold.html#incart_river_index There have been rumors that 43 was going to go off the air. Not actually the case, but it will be interesting how the station will remain off the air. BTW, 19 is now billing its 11pm newscast as "Tucker and Tanaka at 11" with its new team in that slot. There's a new opening too.

WXIX Fox 19 in Cincinnati is finding huge success in the late news slots as its #1 in the 25-54 demo. http://wvxu.org/post/wxix-tv-entering-sweeps-roll Fox 19 also has more viewers in both the 18-49 and 25-54 demos than any of the 11pm newscasts in Cincy. Whatever they're doing at 10pm seems to be working.

Any word on how those "Franken-FM" stations (Analog TV-6/87.77 MHz FM) will or will not survive the auction? They were extended past 2015 because of the spectrum decision.

Some quick notes from Cleveland Amanda Berry will be hosting daily segments on missing people on WJW's various newscasts. (http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2017/02/amanda_berry_will_report_on_missing_people_for_channel_8.html#incart_m-rpt-2) Chris Tanaka and Tiffani Tucker are the new 11pm anchors at WOIO. They will still co-anchor 19's 5pm newscast, along with the evening broadcasts on WUAB. WEWS has retooled its morning newscast by adding more reporters and less repetition with their stories. They're calling their morning reporters the "E-Team."
-
WJW Fox 8 is adding Amanda Berry to its news team. They've been advertising her arrival all day during the big game. Berry was one of the three women rescued from a Cleveland west side house after they have been kidnapped there and captured for over ten years until 2013. Monday morning at 8am is when they'll reveal what she'll be doing at Fox 8.

I think WOIO should just have the team on at 5pm and on WUAB at 9 and 10pm to anchor the 11PM news. Or have one of their reporters anchor at 11.

Kristin Byrne has announced on her Facebook page that today was her last day at WEWS in Cleveland. Not known where she is going as of now.
-
She also worked at the old WAKC 23 as Laura Bailey. She was co-anchor on the weeknight news for a while until it's sign off.
-
Dhomonique Ricks is leaving WEWS according to her FB page. Not known where she is heading as of now.
-
What about WEWS? I can still picture her on at Noon and 4pm or 5pm.

Danielle Serino (formerly of WOIO/WUAB) has announced on her Facebook page that she's joining WKYC as a consumer investigative reporter after the new year.
-
Tom Beres just signed off this evening on WKYC in Cleveland during its 6pm newscast. They had a tribute and a look back on his 37-year career.

WOIO is bringing back Jamie Sullivan (currently at WJLA in Washington D.C.) for traffic duties. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154875344129443

WOIO did go to the Steelers-Bengals game, but only after the Browns-Bills game ended, and it was toward the end of the game between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
-
What about Cox Media? Or could Sinclair expand into a market they have yet to enter? What about the Spectrum Auction too?
-
Couldn't WUAB be used as a secondary channel for the games that conflict with the Browns? I do have to wonder if the ratings for the Browns games are a lot lower than last year's or the year the before.

That was right before "Action News" came to the scene on April or May of 2002. Cynthia Tinsley left shortly before the switch took place. She did not want to anchor weekends, and without Jack Marshall, with whom she anchored with on WUAB. Ironically, WOIO used the generic "19 News" branding back in 1995 when the station first went on the air with its newscast. It only lasted a year in which they switched to "CBS 19 News," which I think they should switch back to.

Nichole Vrsansky's bio is also gone from 19's website too.

Jim Donovan has been anchoring the weeknight 7pm newscast on WKYC solo since Robin left. Perhaps Denise can be his co-anchor or she can become the solo anchor (with Jim strickly on sports). There's also Live on Lakeside at Noon. She could be co-host or a sole host for the show, anchoring the news and conducting interviews. WEWS still has that opening for Good Morning Cleveland after Jackie Fernandez was fired. Maybe Denise could fill that slot (perhaps with a different co-anchor), or have Corrina Pysa get that gig permanently on GMC, and Denise could join Leon Bibb on the Noon news and maybe she could also take over The Now, freeing up Rob Powers and/or Danita Harris to do just 6pm and 11pm. Denise could even fill-in on GMC, the 5pm news or 6pm news. WJW is full with anchors as it is, unless they would want to launch an 11pm newscast.
-
Bill Safos appears to be gone from WOIO as well. His bio is no longer on the website. http://www.cleveland19.com/category/298064/meet-team

Denise Dufala announced on her Facebook page she is leaving WOIO after 22 years with the station to spend more time with her family. She just celebrated 30 years in the Cleveland TV market. Her first eight years were at WJW before she moved to 19.

Jason is going to do the weather for the 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm news on WOIO and the 10pm news on WUAB. Jeff Tanchak will remain on the 4pm news on 19 and 9pm news on 43. Basically, Jeff and Jason will tag team on weeknights. Everyone else stays put - Samantha Roberts on mornings and at Noon, Beth McLeod on weekends, and Jon Loufman on fill-ins.

Jepson's first co-anchor, Mike Dunston, is now anchoring weekend evenings at WGCL in Atlanta. One of his co-workers is Sharon Reed, who also used to anchor in Cleveland, but at WOIO/WUAB. Speaking of 19/43, another WEWS alum, Jason Nicholas, is slated to start work as Chief Meteorologist soon, so don't be surprised if helps to steal viewers from 5. 5 has seen a lot of talent turnover since their first big makeover back in 1998. I'm not sure yet another one would be wise. There is some hope where a promo mentions that "News 5 at 6" and "ABC World News Tonight" is gaining viewers. Back to 19/43, someone mentioned on another message board that Raycom posted an opening for a new Traffic Anchor/Reporter. I wonder what that could mean.
