1. Could Scripps stations eventually scale The Now to a half-hour if they want to? I do miss the local version on WEWS. (I think this could hurt them more than help them) That being said, The List, The Now, and Picker and Ben I feel have dragged down Scripps stations. They should not have been forced to take in programming that are ultimately not ratings-winners in the long run.
2. Looks like WOIO is cutting back on one of its leading reporters. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/3/5/cutting-back-monday-in-cleveland
3. I saw a promo on WEWS in Cleveland saying that "Pickler and Ben" moving to 10am starting on Monday, March 5th. "Steve" (Steve Harvey's latest talk show) is moving to the 3pm slot that "Pickler" had been occupying since September of last year.
4. WOIO Cleveland 19 and WUAB CLE 43 has hired Ian Rubin as its new news director. He comes from WNEM-TV in Flint, Michigan. http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2018/02/ian_rubin_named_news_director_at_woio_channel_19_and_wuab_channel_43.html#incart_river_index
5. Bill Martin is scaling back his duties on WJW Fox 8 News. He's going to co-anchor the 5pm newscast only starting March 1st. Lou Maglio is replacing Martin at 10pm. http://fox8.com/2018/02/28/fox-8-and-bill-martin-announce-new-role-for-the-popular-news-anchor/
6. 7. Hakem Dermish is moving from WEWS in Cleveland to CBS Sports' digital division.
8. Here is part two of the story of Angley and the former associate pastor: https://www.ohio.com/akron/news/local/ernest-angley-blasted-his-associate-when-he-left
9. Now comes another article on Rev. Angley: https://www.ohio.com/akron/news/local/former-pastor-says-angley-abused-him#/ More bad news for Grace Cathedral and WBNX.
10. Dani Carlson, investigative reporter at WOIO, is taking a job in Cleveland outside of local news at Community Solutions as the director of communications and digital strategy.
11. I should have clarifyed that when I wrote Action News, I should have asked if WGCL's news would become similar to WOIO when Doerr was running its news department.
12. Speaking of Doerr, could CBS46 become 46 Action News?
13. Andy Alford served four years at WGCL as GM. There could be a longer-served GM before him.
14. You never know now that WGCL has changed its GM...again! http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2018/01/09/as-the-tv-station-turns-mark-pimentel-out-as-gm-at-cbs46/
15. JUST IN: WOIO/WUAB has not only got rid of its news director, but is rumored, according to FTVLive, to have already found a new ND!! http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/1/5/canned-in-cleveland
16. There is some bad news coming from the Winston Broadcasting Network, part of Ernest Angley Minsitries and the owner of WBNX-TV in Cleveland and Akron. http://www.wkyc.com/mobile/article/news/local/summit-county/akron-televangelist-ernest-angley-facing-foreclosure-on-network-facility/95-500468512 What do you think needs to be done with WBNX?
17. Recent troubles at WBNX http://www.wkyc.com/mobile/article/news/local/summit-county/akron-televangelist-ernest-angley-facing-foreclosure-on-network-facility/95-500468512
18. Could WBNS go across town to replace Ravish?
19. The current ND at WGCL worked with Sharon over at WOIO/WUAB. (Ironically, two of the anchors at WGCL - Mike Dunston and Alicia Roberts - both worked together at WEWS in Cleveland on "Good Morning Cleveland.") I have a feeling they'll continue what they were trying to achieve at 19/43.
20. January 8 is when WUAB and BounceTV both move to become two of WOIO's subchannels. Info is on this link (don't let the website link title fool you): http://www.cleveland19.com/story/35180056/cleveland-19-news-for-roku
21. MyNetworkTV is pointless nowadays. The programs on its lineup can easily air in syndication over-the-air and on cable. Originally, it was a response to the WB-UPN merger, and hooking up with stations that weren't carrying the then-new CW. Then, the shows that originally when the network started bombed. (Remember the bad English versions of the Spanish soap operas?) Now it's just nothing but reruns. The whole primetime lineup keeps getting pushed to later and later timeslots in several markets, including Cleveland (where it went from 8-10pm, to 11pm-1am, then 12-2am, now 12:30am-2:30am). I think in 2020, it should be put out of the TV industry's misery, or maybe merge with ION.
22. WOIO is relaunching their morning newscast as "Wake Up Cleveland" starting this Monday.
23. Another mishap on "Megyn Kelly Today:" http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/cameraman-curses-air-megyn-kelly-today-snafu-1044222
24. THIS JUST IN: WTSP's news director resigns!!!! http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/9/28/1st-on-ftvlive-news-director-out-in-tegans-tampa-station
