  1. NewsNation ran the entire speech from former President Trump at a rally in Ohio this past weekend. This is the same network that didn't cover a lot of breaking news events.
  2. I tried watching some of the 4pm news yesterday and it was mostly fluff. A piece on a pickle fest and some bit involving ice cream. I couldn't get into it. Yet, the 11pm news seems to be doing well. A graphic at the end had it at number one.
  3. Sounds like A&E was looking to revive Live PD before Reelz launched the new show. As for NewsNation, I read that Elizabeth Vargas is filling-in for a week on the channel, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up with a regular gig on the network.
  4. Now, all four of Cleveland's news stations are doing newscasts at 4PM. With WOIO on at 3pm, I wouldn't be surprised if more stations start at 3 as well.
  5. https://www.wkyc.com/article/entertainment/television/programs/donovan-live/fresh-off-velosano-sara-shookman-joining-home-team/95-b8cc72b7-38f9-4aa5-bab7-f83f05541e17 Sara has left WKYC
  6. I'm surprised that the Live PD revival ended up on Reelz instead of NewsNation given that Abrams is on NN.
  7. Was NewsNation having an "Althea Tibbs-a-thon" with In The Heat of the Night reruns instead?
  8. They should have kept the WGN America name. Don't call yourselves NewsNation if you are not going to be all-news all the time.
  9. WKYC's newfound dominance also came when WJW was starting to regain its footing after a period of struggle following the 1994 network switch. WEWS would further sink after WOIO debuted its Action News format and became competitive.
  10. I think those ridiculous titles need to go. 3 seems like they want to bring in TikTok-friendly and big name personalities on board as opposed to the kind of staff they had before the big change of '19.
  11. Could Gray extend the "News First" branding to other markets?
  12. At least there's not a newscast titled "What Sucks."
  13. I have seen Betsy and Laura each co-anchor at 11pm, but not Sara in recent years.
  14. Sara was started to be pushed out back when Laura arrived as the 6pm co-anchor.
  15. WKYC has announced who is anchoring the news between 4pm and 6:30pm starting next month: 4pm - Jay Crawford and Betsy Kling 5pm - Christi Paul and Carmen Blackwell 6pm - Russ Mitchell and Laura Caso https://www.wkyc.com/article/entertainment/television/programs/wkyc-studios-expand-early-evening-news-programming-4-pm-starting-september-12/95-4fc83e71-afac-47c7-90f0-10a82b9bd920
  16. Next could be "What's The Deal With That?!"
  17. WKYC is launching a 4pm newscast on September 12. It will have the "What's New" title, while the 5pm news will become "What's Now."
  18. Chris Licht is obviously cleaning house. It is not a surprise that Brian wasn't going to last under new management. Here's more on the departure and cancellation: https://www.thewrap.com/cnn-brian-stelter-jim-acosta-don-lemon/
  19. There's always Murphy Brown reruns.
  20. Don't forget there have been controversial hires made at NewsNation, especially with some coming from Fox News and that one ABC exec who seems to find himself in the news more than covering it.
  21. WOIO is adding more local news once again. The station is going to air two hours of news on WUAB from 7am to 9am starting next week.
  22. WBNX has just released its Fall 2022 lineup! https://www.wbnx.com/fall-schedule
  23. Could Gray also add Telemundo in Cincinnati and Toledo?

    In Memoriam

Former WJW/WJKW news anchor Dave Buckel has died at the age of 85. He was at the station from 1965 until 1993. https://fox8.com/news/longtime-wjw-anchor-dave-buckel-passes-away/?fbclid=IwAR2jQM0U6JyhMF32CMu_--oaHQRuMVK48ecIp-IsO1-7OMyfkYm6abC8YTo
  25. Denise Polverine has left WKYC for a new position at Cleveland Magazine. She had been the Director Digital Strategy and Content at the station until recently.
