https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nbz73KhZfY The latest from Orlando - pinging @NESTLEH cause I know he wanted me to do this.
-
They were both owned by Allbritton Communications, so no surprise. And was that theme at WJLA by 1983? Wikipedia says they made the “7”’s edges sharper by ‘84, when that theme was in use. They also went through an... interesting image change in the 1984-87 period, which you can see in my compilation up there. They had the 1984 package with the ugly red set, a 1985 package with “So Good To Turn To” returning after a few years, returning to the 1984 pack by ‘86, and then ditching everything altogether by 1987.
-
They sure did... and so did their sister station in Syracuse, WSTM: Both were owned by Federal Broadcasting at the time - Federal later divested WCFT when ABC/Allbritton came to set up the ABC 33/40 tri-mul-cast.
-
Ahhh.... Pittsburgh, one of my most requested compilations.

KATV 10pm, 1987.

Local TV show greenevariety conducted an interview with WTEN chief meteorologist Steve Caporizzo back in the 2000’s (it can’t be later than 2006 cause Terry McSweeney appears briefly here.) Their set may have looked fine, but man, I totally forgot how hideous WTEN’s weather studio looked. I’m guessing Young had a few bucks to be saved for the KRON acquisition when they built WTEN’s set in late 2000. Also... hello Central Florida!

A WALA news report from early 1985 - by this point they already are using “Count On 9”.
-
That KARK Open was copied from former sister station WXIA in Atlanta. What’s odd is that they snagged that open right after Gannett sold them (I believe; a 1983 blooper reel shows the news set in this video being built). And I’m assuming ‘JCL didn’t air 11pm news at the time cause they were being beaten in the ratings by “THE News” at WTOC...
-
A KTVX report from around fall 1991 - I estimated it to be the fall due to the logo on the L3’s (which, at the earliest, was being used in August) and the presence of Phil Riesen (who left the station in October).
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8fnwtzAy2w I have returned...
-
A Today show segment featuring former WNYT weatherman Howard Altschule, with a WNYT weather bug clipped to the side of the screen to show closings & delays. The L3’s shown here were terribly ripped off at WNYT itself.

Time to update a now 5-year-old news open playlist...
-
A WINK report from 1992 - I recall a news open from around this time from the station surface on this thread but can’t find it anywhere. I’m thinking of doing Fort Myers for news open compilations... Also Susan Parks tells us what’s ahead on WTHR:
-
At 2:16:16 in the OJ montage is a noon open - with that different VO guy KSAZ had at the time. I thought it was worth a repost: The opens now have “Spirit of Arizona” replaced with “Coverage You Can Count On.” And wow, Chicago weatherman Steve Deshler worked at KSAZ?
-
Looks like ewjxn’s now doing New Orleans as his Phoenix archive has considerably died down... And here are some updates to the WJLA open compilation - including some internet archive videos!
Phoenix-area coverage of Decision '96: Election Night. It starts with KPNX/NBC, but we eventually get to see the other stations. There's not much KNXV, which has gone toward its tabloid appearance. KSAZ has instituted the Fox 10 name and the "Fox News 10" logo (that was soon revised). KTVK has an Arizona Lottery drawing at 1:56:40. Jim Howl struggles to read "Consejo Latino de Salud" — he would leave within a couple of years. KPHO is in its mid-late 90s newsroom set. At 2:12:33 is a promo for Arizona 5 News at 5 and 6, read by Scott Chapin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu9i8AeYAl8 And here's a KNTV newscast from 1992: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AYscPD01Cw
@Ramona When in ‘95 did KPHO debut its final “Arizona 5” logo and News on the Hour? It definitely was after December 1994, but there’s no material on YouTube from 1995 for KPHO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdVQwaGHkXo Plus what’s laughable is how modern their “Fresh News” graphics looked yet their quality and news presentation was so dated and done to death.

Ladies and gentlemen (and especially Capital Region news geeks), I got two words for ya: they’re back.
-
And gave them a TVBD package that (in my opinion) still looks brilliant after 17+ years (1:20-2:36):
-
They were still using “Catch 5” by February 1987. Its been believed (speaking of them) that WAGA had been the commissioner of Good News, and not WPLG, as it didn’t have it either by 1987 as well.

News San Diego Weekend Edition!!!!

Some KTUL clips from 1986, still using the 1985 theme. Anchors featured are Carole Lambert and Richard Hull of WLWT fame, as well as of course, Charles Ely. Was Hull the guy who replaced Bob Hower?? I know Steve Knight didn’t come in till ‘88, and Hower retired two years prior.
-
And I’ve stayed true to my word.

KTVI. Between the time you uploaded the KTVI compilation in October 2014 to now, plenty of footage from that station has been uncovered. Also I am planning on updating some of my own compilations too - I really don’t like my KPHO compilation as I missed a ton of stuff from 2014 onward. Also dma37dude has been kind enough to share some footage off of his hard drive with me, which includes more WXXA during the “News Matrix” era and plenty of WIVB.
-
Thanks. I’m gonna start with a certain station in St. Louis.... Also glad to see that more of that KHOU theme, which the NMSA needs to change to 1985, not 1984. They were still using “And You” as late as February:
-
Speaking of that, the NMSA says WBRZ’s 1983 Theme was in use at WFSB, so I thought it’d be fitting to post this on TVNT.
