This video explains the concept of "channel drift" really well, a topic we've heavily discussed. I recall Flavor of Love, I Love New York, Keeping up with the Kardashians and Rev Run's House really signaled the programing shift in the mid 2000s for me. At least Game Show Network, Food Network and HGTV have largely retained their niche.

I hope design packages embrace black, browns, yellows and purples more instead of the general blue and white, breaking red, and morning orange looks. Not CBS but Nightly News woth Tom Brokaw used brown and purple effectively in the early 00s.

Green is a rare color for stations but KYW pulls it off well. Loving the Philadelphia Eagles shade of green. The new CBS package in't all that great, but touches of uniqueness like these is what adds flare and authenciticty.

On an episode of Allen's Judge Mablean Show, many youtube users commented the plot was very similar to "The Imitation of Life" movie.

What a shame. There's a saying that goes "don't go too hard on the competition, you never know if you might end up working for them".

The scripted part is what kills Allen's court shows. Is there not a production company out there willing to do a real cases?

Asked this in the Sinclair Chat. With the concentration of local ownership between a few companies, if a talent falls out with management at one station (and either quits or gets terminated), does that blacklist them from working in the station group totally?

Once again broadcast news proves itself to be a hotbed of inflated egos and back biting. Sucks. Never been a fan of Lemon's. This confirms things.

I was surprised that unlike MSNBC, CNN broke away from Trump's Florida departure to cover other stories. MSNBC temporarily did so just for the southern tornadoes. It's hard to think of recent time where MSNBC has covered something non-Trump/politics related with the exception of severe weather.

Don't know where to pose this question but I'll ask it here. With the concentration of local station ownership by just a few companies, what happens if a talent has a falling out at one station? Does it now blacklist them from all other stations in th group, or do individual station managers have the disgression if hiring someone ousted from another station? Overall, is this media oligapathy, so to speak, good for the local news industry?

Multiple outlets (Radar, OK Magazine, Rickey Smiley Morning Show---take what you will from their legitimacy) are reporting that Gayle King will sign a $12 Million deal with CNN. This would make her the highest paid talent at the network. Congrats to Gayle! As for CNN, is she and Charles Barclay really the answer to the network's problem?

I hope a less polarizing show will do well in primetime cable. Only time will tell.

I doubt it but if so Vlad is not the answer. They'd need a well known perhaps older female talent to go up against Hoda and Robin.

Vlad seems like a nice guy, good for him. This reminds me of when CTM tried to add a fourth person with Bianna Golodryga. This might work as Vlad would be heavily involved in the program doing features more so than the actual fourth host. It does seem like CBS Mornings/CTM is rather unsettled however.

Even in the last package they were using their early 2010s enforcer theme as the close. Agreed, the new theme is bland and forgettable. The orange looks good. They maybe just need to blend in another color so it doesn't look overwhelming.

What is it about network news that so many of these personal scandals occur? Perhaps these workplace scandals happen in all industries but network scandals are magnified because they're on television? Whatever it is, this must make aspiring journalists be cautious of entering the profession.

The set and graphics look great. The L3s however are terrible. Alot of unknown faces at WPIX from that video. Oji was great, she had personality.

Are News 12 anchors that well known to require a non compete clause? I find those strange. We want you out because we dont want to pay you a certain amount, but we also don't want you working anywhere else. Agreed. NYC is a saturated media market. The entire appeal of News 12 was hyperlocal focus on overlooked areas in a massive media market. Now that News 12 has lost it's defining trait, the only reason to watch is a quick news update at anyhour.

Wishing Hoda the best. The set looks good when they utilize seasonal flowers/plants. The orange horizontal bars are a nice touch as well.

if that were to happen, it would be cool if the first half hour focused on domestic events and the second half hour focused on global events.

I used to wonder why networks don't do this during off seasons. The question with classics is, how will they hold up in the ratings against new episodes on other networks. That's why I think the elimination of 10pm might have to be on all three networks for it to work.

She was pretty good. Hopefully she has a job elsewhere.

The difference is though NBC wouldn't be adding a late night talk show in primetime, they'd just be moving the local news up an hour. Fox has had local news at 10 for years, so it's not implausible that it could work for NBC. I do agree that NBC will be at a disadvantage from CBS and ABC. All big three networks however need to consider this because it's clear they're struggling to fill programming.
