I'm surprised it won't be a 3pm newscast. If WABC wasn't already producing Kelly & Mark I'd take a lifestyle show over yet another newscast. *If this is happening* I should say.

Overall, it's very similar to what they had before. I think the look as a whole needs an overhaul. The NBC bug without the white lining looks too cheap and 2D. I'd add some some translucence to the L3, it's very solid.

Having John in the weekday slot again would be great but it's sad and shocking that it would happen under these circumstances.

Rahima Ellis has such a warm voice. She would really be good as the Today news reader, a weekend nightly news host, or a substitute for Lester on NNN.

Reminds me of Katherine Creag's passing, just sudden and random with no visible indication. Very unexpected. Very tragic. RIP to Elise and condolences to her colleagues and family.

Ehhh... I like that broadcast remains mostly clean. I don't think shows should have to curse or have explicit sex scenes in order to be good. A good drama can stand on its own without those elements. We've all seen how low standards can go when they're relaxed (example the VMAs).

Ahh thanks for the clarification. I did see Ron and Jennifer and sometimes Jeff so I was confused as to whether Jeff was the substitute or the main. That's good that they're taped instead of live newscasts from 8-11pm.

I was hoping 11 Alive didn't go the 4:00 p.m. route as it had one of the few non news options at 4. Then again, what syndication choices do they really have anymore? They've got paid programming at on weekday as the lead in to the noon news. John should be a good fit. It's great that Faith Jessie will get another newscast as Ron and Jennifer Anchor ALOT of shows between 11 Alive and WATL.

Love the use of the 80s theme at the end and CBS 2's father and son commercial.

I had thought that the FCC had no authority over subscription channels like HBO. It surprised me to see that movie air because I thought basic cable channels could only do such a thing at night.
-
Didn't know where else to post this, I see "The Change Up" (2011) is airing at 11am ET on "E!" with a TV-14 rating. I'm surprised that a movie with such bold full frontal nudity is allowed to air in the daytime on basic cable with such small black censorship bars. How did this make it past the FCC?

Rare indeed. Cool! I was just thinking about this. Some of the most iconic anchor duos -- especially in NYC -- have been two males yet we rarely see it in news across the country anymore. In sports and radio however, it's commonplace. My assumption is networks trying to appeal to a certain demo? IDK.

Exactly!!! It almost seems like current events go out of their way to occur during daytime soap broadcast times, lol. GH gets pre-empted heavily! Someone made this obvious statement but it stings. We really went from FREE quality television giving us 24 episodes a season, to a paid model scattered across streaming services (with eight to 10 episodes having long breaks between seasons) plus the cost of internet. Despite the modern advantages, it almost feels like we've regressed.

Has anyone watched WTTG's in house produced LION Lunch Hour and the DMV Zone? I like Fox 5's creative efforts at filling syndication holes with something other than newscasts. Now "DMV Zone" needs to switch up and lower the volume of their background music. It isnt needed for every segment. The hosts also needs to lower their voices.

Someone probably posted this already but wow. excuse my lack of knowledge, but why I haven't unions become more popular in newsrooms *if that would help*?
-
A lot of continuous reading I would assume. Maybe even prefering the vibe and energy of having an on air partner.

It was surprising that they openly criticized his management in the article. I thought it would be filled with corperate speak like "CNN is deciding to go in a new direction, we wish him well in his new endeavors".
-
Even this temporary set looks better than what WNBC has. Well lit, smooth, not too washed out. EDIT: This is a tired discussion but John Elliott belongs on the weekdays again, especially doing feature segments for the 9am. Give Cindy Hsu the noon as well.
-
Agreed. Bolder definitely looks better than the thin font they had last time.
-
Granted the old graphics are better than what's on screen now but they should focus on getting an entirely new look. I'll give it to current CNN though, if something isn't working such as CNN Plus or their new graphics package, they'll get rid of it quickly. Keep the flip ticker though.

I'm surprised because 11 Alive is a better flowing newscast. 2 and 5 are the best in the market IMO.
-
IMO from a viewer and from an employee perspective, we don't need further narrowing of the media landscape. On the other hand, maybe the far superior journalistic quality of CBS News might rub off on CNN.
-
Good. CBS doesn't need to build a new local news department from scratch. It's genetic format wouldn't hold up againt WSB, AGA, or XIA, (not that WANF does well).
