  1. From 1999-2004 both KABC and WABC had the same verbal news branding until WABC went back to “Channel 7 Eyewitness News”. Till this day I wonder why WABC was ABC7 Eyewitness News from 99-04. KABC until 1996 was “Channel 7 Eyewitness News” in clips I've since from back then I never really heard reporters verbally say it at the end of liveshots. I feel like when KABC became ABC7 Eyewitness News that when I saw reporters saying it during the end of liveshots. WABC from 2000 during “ABC7 Eyewitness News” era does anyone know why they took that brand? WABC has kept that “Eyewitness News” typeface forever now. KABC has changed its font multiple times.
  2. Laid off is almost similar to getting fired anyway. Bottom line he was out of a job.
  3. Had a brief stint at WCBS in New York in the 90s but he was part of the station “massacre” at that station which resulted in him getting laid off.
  4. Except Al Roker decided in 2000, to switch over completely to network he had been doing 5 and 6 while Janice did 11pm so he could do the today show. But he stop doing WNBC in full on February 17, 2000.
  5. Yes he's there full time.
  6. Me either, the station had a lot of pregnancies lately which is weird s little.
  7. Yeah this update started with Los Angeles rolling out the update, soon I saw it in Boston, then I saw it in Telemundo 52 LA, now it’s in Orlando it’s coming fast!
  8. That per there NBC affiliation correct.
  9. That just not fair, there getting national exposure to the point Maurice and Kristine are almost CBS News personalities. They should be paid, I know Maurice files for CBS Sunday Morning frequently he should be paid if this is a combination under this brand of local and National then it should be treated as such. Makes me wonder if the national talent such Elaine Quijano who doing WCBS weekend morning which feels like part time is getting paid herself. It feels like all the New York station who personalities fill in for the network talent on occasions get this exposure and yet they know it’s hard to get a national news job and there filling in for no pay seems unfair for me.
  10. It’s still surreal that they’ve adopted this theme.
  11. Do anchors like Kristine Johnson who anchoring this Saturday broadcast and Maurice Dubios do they get paid for filling-in or part timing. I know they can’t be doing that for free, spending time away from their family and traveling and making no dough.
  12. Well it's unlikely Trump is getting elected so, (despite polls being in his favor, which I don't believe) and Biden is strict with television ownership, Trump's FCC allowed Nexstar to get away for all these years. I wouldn't hold your breath on that
  13. ABC O&O WTVD got their new set in 2018, for their downtown studio, in fact it's so small they still do sports from Durham still. WABC is moving to a new building so wait that, KABC set is still fresh after almost a decade, WPVI is ight. KFSN just got a new set last year. KTRK ill admit they need an upgrade, KGO set is still pretty nice, WLS set (built in 2016) is still pretty nice, WLS is in WTVD's situation a small street level studio which makes it hard for them to build a new set.
  14. Well CBS is taking a try on Raleigh, citing it as a fast growing metro, CBS did have a bureau in that other NC city but it was closed. ABC ofc course has a bureau here in WTVD, FOX only has studios there for Nascar purposes, the NBC News Channel is leaving their building and downsizing to certain office building. But both markets have the possibility to crack the top 20 but Sacramento is tough to beat, and will probably stay ahead of both NC markets for the foreseeable future. But both markets only trail by a few hundred people, its really close, also the Lee and Harnett county was added back to the Raleigh CSA, the only problem is the Census refuses to remerge Raleigh-Cary MSA with Durham-Chapel Hill based on commuting patterns, making stats pro-sports, and advertising a bit difficult. But both markets I see are gonna be fighting each other for a minute, I don't see both areas hitting 3 million in its CSA. NBCUniversal has returned to Raleigh to own the Telemundo station, honestly it's gonna be a nasty fight for a few years, both metros are growing fast but Raleigh has messed up statistics due to split up MSAs. Which is why Raleigh has a hard time we've been as one person said criminally underserved.
  15. I feel like it’s an LA thing that there used to be not enough weather anchors. Like KABC owned the weather coverage with Dallas Raines a great meteorologist and a very funny person imo. But ya know I was studying the Spanish stations and it was like a decade I noticed then that KVEA only had one weather anchor and KMEX had only 2 they both now have meteorologist covering all newscast. But my question was with LA crazy climate why wasn’t weather not taken seriously. I remember watching a vintage video from the 1991 or 1990 of KTLA and I saw their 10pm news intro from back then and I noticed there was no weather anchor, when they launched the morning news Mark Kristi (I believe his name was) did weather and traffic, but there no weather anchor at 10. I always wondered why some tv stations don’t feature weather anchors for their evening shows. Maybe it because I’m not from California and I live in a state with wild weather but it felt weird for me.
  16. I haven’t seen it maybe NY or LA, but in all the other owned markets there no network talent filling in. Now Brittany Bell who now with WABC and formerly of WTVD used to fill in on GMA and WNT a lot. Sydney Scofeld did a report for ABCNews live after those 4 cops were killed in the another NC city (outside of the Raleigh market) which I found surprising. But ABC and there owned stations are either 1 or 2 in the local ratings in their markets. I don’t think there in a position like CBS where local and National need to be under one unified brand.
  17. Yeah and that’s why so many network journalist are part timing with CBS you got Elaine Quijano on WCBS, Jaime Yuccas who’s on KCAL both journalist both part timing on network and local. I think we’ll see a lot more network journalist on the local stations since this unified brand means one unified group.
  18. He has to own WPIX if he wants to own all CW station I haven’t heard of any network owned group that doesn’t own their own flagship NY station to complete the job he needs New York. Perhaps he’ll sell of stations where there no chance that he’ll own a CW station there are a bunch of markets where he has no chance of getting CW control most are in small markets.
  19. It was a pretty flat out rollout pretty straight and basic.
  20. Apparently KABC is a carbon copy of WABC as they are now using their custom 1999 cut of Gari’s Eyewitness News.
  21. I not gonna lie I was a little let down. I like their old theme, maybe perhaps they had an audio problem and forgot to roll out the music theme. I know at the beginning they were having some audio problems. The breaking news theme was cut off a little.
  22. Finally there the last this new look is done rolling out. It looks good on them but I will miss the last package though.
  23. Again they’re right next to each other and could remain that way for awhile, but I’m betting Raleigh might overtake them. By the way CBS News is opening a Raleigh bureau. TVNewser reported that here’s the link. https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/cbs-news-overhauls-streaming-channel-adds-new-bureaus/
