knightofni 2 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I heard a strong rumor that the morning show will be expanded by a half hour to start at 4:30. That's another 30 minutes of your favorite morning players, folks!
DMA 136 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Instead of doing that, they should launch a 4pm newscast.
knightofni 2 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Always thought they would add a noon newscast, but now that point is moot. That probably would have required a whole different crew anyway. A 4pm, 5pm, or 6pm would too actually.
WizOz 3 Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Head Linda say yesterday that she lived in West Haven Conn. Has she moved out of the City or maintaining two places? She has been doing her weather casts from various beaches in the area, dissapointed she is wearing pants, sweaters and doesn't go in the water. Maybe she is ready for a 5PM show.

She used to work at WTNH in New Haven. "Lived" I believe was the word used.
shorewx 1 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 why did she do a live shot from a PA lake this morning? Isn't that wayy out of the viewing area? Weird
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 why did she do a live shot from a PA lake this morning? Isn't that wayy out of the viewing area? Weird  Actually, the CW 11 is available on most cable outlets in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. Infact, WPIX is seen on Comcast cable in State College which is 4 hours away from Manhattan!
johnnyc 0 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 if you've taken the summer off you would have missed Jill announce that she's hanging, (cough) banging Anthony from Opie and Anthony fame.
rtmclaug 70 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I've seen Linda's work on channel 11. They should really add more newscasts, especially a noon show. She deserves more camera time.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Jill with Anthony? I knew she wanted to boink David Wright, but he's out her league. Sort of speak.
knightofni 2 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 why did she do a live shot from a PA lake this morning? Isn't that wayy out of the viewing area? Weird  Linda has a vacation home in that area. How fitting to do PA near her summer home on a Friday.
DMA 136 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 This doesn't warrant a new thread, but WPIX now has it's live shots in 1080i, previously they had sidebars. They're the first station in NYC to do this, all the other HD stations have widescreen SD liveshots and reports.

I've seen some live stand ups were 16:9 SD but this am the live reports were 4:3 SD.
username23 1 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 When was this? I've seen some live stand ups were 16:9 SD but this am the live reports were 4:3 SD. Â WPIX has 2 HD microwave live trucks, so some live shots will be in HD and some will be in HD. The station is in the process of purchasing replacement live trucks for the 3 SD trucks. The old trucks go to other Tribune affiliates. Usually the HD trucks are for shots nearer to the city because the injest time is slower than SD trucks, but its not always the case. The KU trucks (satellite) are not HD. There is a chance that they will not send any HD trucks out, which is likely why the am shots were in 4:3.

It wasn't 16:9 SD...that usually looks really soft. It was definitely HD. It could have been a field test or something.
IceManNYR 242 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Ok, thanks for the update. I missed those newscasts. If I happen to catch one of the live HD reports I'll try to get a few still caps.

It was Tamsen Fadal at Chelsea Piers and the PQ was very good. The ironic part was the taped segment used, done from the same location, was SD 4:3.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Was it cold in the studio this morning? Jill had them pointing straight out. A good thing. :rofl!:
IceManNYR 242 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Well now that GDNY is without Jodi, the CW11 AM News is the show to tune for the news babes plus they are in HD.
