Head Linda say yesterday that she lived in West Haven Conn. Has she moved out of the City or maintaining two places? She has been doing her weather casts from various beaches in the area, dissapointed she is wearing pants, sweaters and doesn't go in the water. Maybe she is ready for a 5PM show.

She used to work at WTNH in New Haven. "Lived" I believe was the word used.

why did she do a live shot from a PA lake this morning? Isn't that wayy out of the viewing area? Weird

Actually, the CW 11 is available on most cable outlets in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. Infact, WPIX is seen on Comcast cable in State College which is 4 hours away from Manhattan!

This doesn't warrant a new thread, but WPIX now has it's live shots in 1080i, previously they had sidebars. They're the first station in NYC to do this, all the other HD stations have widescreen SD liveshots and reports.

Will that improve the detail in cleavage?

When was this? I've seen some live stand ups were 16:9 SD but this am the live reports were 4:3 SD.

WPIX has 2 HD microwave live trucks, so some live shots will be in HD and some will be in HD. The station is in the process of purchasing replacement live trucks for the 3 SD trucks. The old trucks go to other Tribune affiliates. Usually the HD trucks are for shots nearer to the city because the injest time is slower than SD trucks, but its not always the case. The KU trucks (satellite) are not HD. There is a chance that they will not send any HD trucks out, which is likely why the am shots were in 4:3.

It was over the weekend. It wasn't 16:9 SD...that usually looks really soft. It was definitely HD. It could have been a field test or something.

I heard a strong rumor that the morning show will be expanded by a half hour to start at 4:30. That's another 30 minutes of your favorite morning players, folks!

Looks like you were ahead of the curve on this one. :) Good work.

I finally saw a remote in HD the other AM. It was Tamsen Fadal at Chelsea Piers and the PQ was very good.

The ironic part was the taped segment used, done from the same location, was SD 4:3.
