I also noticed they don't use the "Live from xx..." VO in the open, but "Getting Answers from all across Northern California. This is the CBS13 News at xx"

I kinda figured they would do that.

I was going to post it on YouTube, but YT user "sharkseatducks" posted a much better quality version:

But for what it's worth, I posted it anyways:

I like how they scroll the different regional cities instead of just the station ID. Makes it look more unique.

If you notice on the city scroll, they are using Gotham instead of Helvetica. Looks SO MUCH better. But unfortunately, they use that awful heavy bold version of Gotham on the supers. WBZ meanwhile, got it right as did KTVT and went with a lighter typeface.

Interesting how KOVR uses the "small use" CBS eye for the large logo in their opens while the small bug uses the normal eye.

All (most) of the stations are using the small eye for the opens. I have no idea why, you'd think CBS would know how to use the CBS logo.

I think that the more recent stations to receive the new graphics had the regular eye in the open.

WCBS should do that but with the names of New York's boroughs.

I'm guessing Peter Dunn has never read the Eyedentity guidlines.

It looks like they changed the font of "Getting Answers." in the logo itself, too. That was only added when they boxed the logo back in February. I'm glad there's more variation in the opens from show to show. That 6p open gives the longest listen of the new Gari cut I've heard so far. I do like the bed part of it.

Here's their old opens, and a look at their previous blue set backgrounds from YT user "TelevisionGFX"

Saw a promo this morning on KDKA with what looked like a new logo. Looked much like KYW's logo with the different CBS eye. However, there is NO GOLD 2.

William Golden and Lou Dorfsman are spinning in their graves.

These graphics a breath of fresh air on WBZ. Obviously no one picks what station to turn to for news based on graphics, but I think viewers will appreciate not having the fact that WBZ is a CBS affiliate shoved in their face throughout a newscast as the last graphics package did.

Well, I found a compilation video with opens from WCBS, KCBS, KOVR, WBZ, WFOR, WBBM, and KTVT. The WFOR opens are stretched in this video, but it shouldn't be that much of a problem:

Also, did anyone notice the obvious font oversight in the WBZ opens? (Look closely at the right side of the "WBZ BOSTON" scroll)

I saw it on the left side of the scroll at the beginning of WBZ's open. I wonder how they missed that.

It shows up in both the morning and the evening opens. I'm still scratching my head over that one.

Where were you guys able to find the KTVT opens, I tried to look for those for the longest time and gave up.

So now all that's left is KDKA, WCCO, KCNC, KPIX and WJZ (which I doubt is actually going to get the package). And considering that they're not going in any particular order (I think KOVR was the last one to get the previous package or at least KPIX got it before KOVR did), I think it's anyone's guess when the remaining stations will switch over to the new package.

I call KCNC at the 1st of the year!

That don't make any sense. They should've implemented the graphics, on the day their new set debuted.

That would make way too much sense...and if we've learned anything, is that TV doesn't make sense.

TV stopped making sense in the mid 1990s. ;)

Nah, the reality is that we would be speculating on even more mundane or baseless stuff than we already do now. ;)

That's not possible.
