TServo2049 82 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Yeah, I think that makes sense. As you implied, WSOC seems to have been the client for the whole thing. I've already basically confirmed from Hal Brown that the WNDU 1991 package was done by VTS (having licensed the rights to the music), and he seemed to confirm to me that it was done for WSOC?
channel2 982 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I think somewhere in the ASCAP repertory, one will find that KRIV commissioned The Viper V.2.
ToriElectra 292 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Viper V.1 was commed by WWOR for their 05 GFX revamp (and shortly before their My9 days kicked in) after several years of stock music dating to 1998; it was used until 2009, and in that time frame, sisters WFLD and WGHP used it. WFLD replaced Streaming News with it; this didn't last long before the OSI music came in; WGHP replaced Monster News (which is a misleading name, the package doesn't sound aggressive at all), but the same situation happened there.
AarHan3 18 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 WBNS 1977 is "Take a Good Look at 10" by Gavin/Conner Productions (Kevin Gavin, Otis Conner, short-lived partnership from 1977 to 1979): Broadcasting September 12, 1977 Otis Conner was also instrumental (sic!) in writing/producing the TV station package "The Best Things In Life" for TM Productions in January 1979, sometime before he parted ways with TM to form his own company.
Samantha 2898 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I wonder what Gavin/Conner wrote for WTAE? A radio package called "Listen Up". The full ad makes it clear that it was for radio.
LTSC1980 114 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Found out WVTX-CD's bump music, which is production music, could be date back to late 1980s, as Channel Report, a main newscast on ITV Channel Television in Jersey, UK used them. Now I wonder what the music is. WVTX: CTV:
Samantha 2898 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Well, Channel was the smallest ITV franchise, and WVTX was, uh, cheap... ...Someone will have to look. DeWolfe is the library I would suspect.
LTSC1980 114 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I've found WBKB open theme form 2012 to 2015. It's 'World News' by DeWolfe Music. http://www.dewolfemusic.com/AlbumList.php?id=4742 But they've changed open recently:
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Do anyone know who compose KTTV's Good Day LA? ( ) "Good Day L.A." intro (1995-1997) ( ) "Good Day L.A." intro (1997-1999)
10Viewer 338 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Not sure where to post this... Nice update on the NMSA. An open from WCKT with "Count on Us" has surfaced. Would love to see that. Also, Gavin/Conners was finally credited on the 1977 WBNS theme.
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 An open from WCKT with "Count on Us" has surfaced. Would love to see that. All the Telesound material this update came from the demo reels eyeontv uploaded a while back. That open in particular crops up here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=nv5XkuNINi0;m=6;s=7
10Viewer 338 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Great sample posted of KNBC's 1982-85 package by Tuesday on the NMSA.
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 You know, listening to it now, it really does make sense that it's Tuesday. Surprised no one made the connection with the instrumentation earlier.
PelicanGuy 117 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Great sample posted of KNBC's 1982-85 package by Tuesday on the NMSA. Yes! You can hear the trombones and congas perfectly. You couldn't tell it was Tuesday based on the original postings.
TServo2049 82 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 This was my discovery - I found it on a Tuesday demo reel that I obtained from a jingle collector (in digital form). I was absolutely blown away; I had never thought about it before, I had just always assumed it was Michael Randall because it had the NewsCenter musical signature. 2
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 It also seems to leave WRC as the station most likely to have commissioned NewsCenter II...which ties together with how many different things they did with the first theme.
mardek1995 200 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I was blown away when I was listening to WCBS AM on the CBS Local app and I discovered that the station has First News by Non-Stop Music. I didn't know that it was commissioned for radio, I thought it was just for TV based on the SouthernMedia News Music Archive's lack of info on radio stations.

I've been saying that for a couple years now- I noticed it one day, and I've been listening to News 88 since I was little. I thought it was weird too- but, when you're listening via your PS3, it's much better sounding. And it wasn't commissioned for radio, I think WDIV had it first and WCBS just started using at some point.

WNIR 100.1 FM Kent/Akron OH use "The Spirit of Akron, theme aka spirit of texas. Has been in use for many years. Also a radio station (WWKC) in Cambridge, OH uses "Power News" by Non Stop, for the open of thier newscasts.
TServo2049 82 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 WCBS radio started using First News only fairly recently. It was commissioned by a TV station, WDIV in Detroit.
mardek1995 200 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 When is NMSA going to expand its archive on news music to news radio stations?
WWUpdate 1292 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 WNIR 100.1 FM Kent/Akron OH use "The Spirit of Akron, theme aka spirit of texas. Has been in use for many years. Also a radio station (WWKC) in Cambridge, OH uses "Power News" by Non Stop, for the open of thier newscasts. I believe WBAL-AM in Baltimore used the ITN / ITV News theme a few years ago, but I can't find any clips.
justin2kx 240 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Great sample posted of KNBC's 1982-85 package by Tuesday on the NMSA. Would Tuesday's other cut, "Tuesday 15" be considered a variation of the Newscenter Melody or not, and why isn't it referred as a "musical logo found" on NMSA?
TServo2049 82 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Tuesday15 isn't the same melody, it's more like a rip-off.
