Yes it is. They updated the open with it as well.

These new opens are great! I wonder if the evening opens will be updated also. I mean, since the music package is great, we didn't care that much, but still, WPIX's opens are just animated shots of NYC and that's basically it.

Take a look at all of the other opens, they have cool and interesting graphical elements, which PIX doesn't have.

WABC:

and boring WPIX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9Un9Bqd-Dg

The opens PIX used prior to the 2010 changes were actually really good and unique. Take a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3_Pfq09g5w

Thanks, but no change as expected. :(

Also, they started the 5pm show today by saying "alright it's 5:00, let's talk about it. It's gonna be humid and the weather's changing. We have scattered showers in the offering. Alright G (and the three of them are laughing)" (slightly paraphrased). They can't be serious. Then, they get to other breaking news, etc. But first, let's talk because we may, just may have to deal with scattered showers tomorrow. I almost prefer the old 11 stories in 11 minutes format, at least they got to what was important.

Jay Norris even uploaded the open on youtube. I've seen kids on youtube put better content out than this. Maybe something happened, and a live shot wasn't working or something? This is just too weird to all of the sudden talk about the fact that we may get scattered showers tomorrow like it's a big deal.

WPIX will be on until 11:30 covering the primary day elections. I guess this shows that they are trying to be a serious outlet in local news. But judging from the start of the 5pm newscast this evening, they clearly weren't. I can't understand the direction WPIX is going. Are they being more serious or less serious?

I feel that lately it has been Alex Denis on WCBS vs. Lisa Mateo on WPIX. First, they both ride the thunderbolt roller coaster, then today they both took a try riding on the bull in Hoboken. Actually, now that I look on Alex Denis' twitter page, they both took a ride together (probably off-camera)! The question is, who came up with the ideas first, WPIX or WCBS? Who knows, it might even be PIX, because WCBS is known for being a copy-cat. Do these promos from a few years ago ring a bell?

Unconfirmed reports by the New York Post state that John Muller will begin on WPIX starting July 14th. Also, according to this article, PIX11's 5pm newscast and some of its other programming is tying WNYW's for the first time in THREE years!

I noticed they just took down the anchor/reporter job down from the tribune website. The fact that the job said anchor/reporter and not just anchor makes me think that this hire was not John Muller. I wonder if an announcement will be made of a new anchor at a different timeslot? Maybe they're going to launch a new news show soon?

I never understood why the 5pm keeps doing so well while the 10pm doesn't. Especially with all the competition at 5pm.

The only possible reason are the lead ins - Steve Wilkos pulls pretty good numbers - Fox has better lead ins than the cW
