Not sure, but Lourdes also anchored with Steve at midday, so I'd be surprised if she'd do the whole evening slate.

Maybe we'll have Julie Unruh? WGN isn't exactly known for doing solo weekday newscasts.

The only time I see them do a solo broadcast, is if when they air the late news after a primetime sporting event, and that's only if it runs late.

It is Tom Negovan and Julie tonight; however, with a severe weather outbreak in progress, Tom Skilling and Mike Hamernik were anchoring coverage with very sporadic segments featuring the anchors. The actual news/top stories kicked off at 9:13pm.

One thing I've noticed is that whenever the Cubs are in Milwaukee, WGN uses the full opener at the start of the broadcast. All other road games and all home games use the abbreviated opener that they started using a season or two ago.

I'm not sure if that's the decision of the director or the technical director or whoever, but I like it. It's kinda funny that they actually have a full opener made for the 2017 season, but it's only used by the production crew in Milwaukee.

Maybe it's because Milwaukee is basically a Chicago suburb.

Tom Negovan and Lourdes Duarte are in for Mark and Micah tonight. Is Tom the primary fill-in for Mark now, or is it usually Ben? Or is it a mix of both?

It appears that way as of recent. Tom has been the primary sub quite frequently recently.

This past week, Ben and Lourdes filled in for Mark and Micah for the entire week. Tom Negovan remained in the field all week.

Julie Unruh, too. I get they're trying to push the 4 o'clock team, but it's kinda odd that they didn't put anyone else on to fill at least a couple hours.

Looks like WGN used the entire weather staff today. I assume Morgan did the 4-6am. I saw Paul did the 6-10am, Jim did the 11am-1pm. Tom did the 5pm-7pm, and Demetrius is doing the late news after the Sox game. I have no idea who did the 4-5pm. I'd guess Jim or Tom, but I have no idea.

It was Ivory at 4. I think Demetrius has been handling most of the late post-baseball newscasts this summer. I'm glad WGN moved him up... really enjoy his forecasts.

This might be my new favorite thing ever. What can you get done during Tom Skilling's full forecast?

Interesting, with Micah off tonight, Dina and Lourdes swapped shifts. Lourdes anchored the Midday. Dina is anchoring the Nine and Ten.

Dina also did the 6, and I'd assume the 5.

That seems about right. WGN's 5,6 and 9 pm newscasts are an hour long each right? 3 1/2 hours of news has to be exhausting.

I noticed that Amy Rutledge has returned from maternity leave and has begun her role as afternoon traffic reporter. Apparently her first day back was last week Wednesday.

Technical fail on the Cubs telecast tonight. None of the graphics except the score graphic are working.

They had to use a freeze-frame of the ABC7 starting batting order graphic. Other than that, no lower thirds or other graphics at all.

The legend of the superstition lives on in America's youth. For real, though, is this someone from here?
