Marcus Leshock is anchoring all 6 hours of the morning news today. Basically half of their on-air staff seems to be off today.

And with Lauren Jiggetts expecting a baby soon (alongside Sarah Jindra from the Evening News team), expect more off-air staff for a while.

Sarah's on the morning show. She literally made the announcement there.

So, a press release is out where WGN is claiming victories and 2nd place finishes in every slot but 10pm, mostly in the demo, but I have one question; like preempted network newscasts, are they omitting baseball-shortened/completely dumped 4pm hours in these numbers? Either way, I can't imagine that their success at 4 isn't due to more baseball lead-ins.

Either way, I'm guessing these summer numbers aren't so off of normal performance that we could legitimately say that Chicago's Very Own is also Chicago's #2 News.

The CW must still be stinging after WGN bailed on them.

The CW audience aren't really big news or sports viewers and The CW is probably happy that its programs are seen at its mandatory time in market number 3.

Not sure if he's been on the whole morning, but Pat and Lauren are hosting the 9 am hour.

No, Larry was anchoring when I watched during the 7am hour.

out of all the other noon newscasts in the U.S., why doesn't the WGN Midday News (formerly WGN News at Noon) have a "fourth" anchor?

What midday newscast anywhere has more than 2 midday anchors at one time? I know some stations have a rotation with weekend anchors, but that doesn't count.

Blast from the past tonight. Whoever is directing the Cubs game tonight in Pittsburgh has been using the 2011-2017 WGN Cubs music throughout the entire telecast. The new music was only used for the opener since it's probably built into the opener.

WGN is already in team coverage for storms that aren't even here yet. Severe storms and flooding rains are expected tonight. Tom and Demetrius are already sharing airtime here in the 6pm hour.

WGN's Dean Richards has joked that he and Billy Joel look alike. With the Piano Man in town, Pat Tomasulo took the doppelganger out on the streets of Chicago to introduce "Mr. Joel" to his fans. Spoiler alert: people will fall for anything.

Also, the station has debuted the "World's Greatest Newspaper Television Podcast."

I wonder if WGN is still planning on doing a late Saturday newscast with the late start to tonight's Cubs game.

Edit: Yes, they do. They just advertised it during the game broadcast.
