I love the pitch black s**t bucket set look tonight. You would think they can at least replace some lights in the 2 broadcast center. No wonder their the armpit of 10pm!

Ugh.

Looks kinda small market don't you think?

It does but it's a good way to hide the background.

I swear insiders at news stations check these sites because since the posting of the studio being pitch black, all new lighting has either been installed or in the process of being installed and they finished installing the remainder of outdated televisions, to better correspond with the former sports desk televisions that were replaced a year ago (the rolling tv stands and sports area television(s) have been upgraded). It also appears that a new tv has been installed in the right corner of the set, adjacent to the sports area (former traffic area) and that they have re-lighted the area, appearing much cleaner. Hopefully CBS is finally cracking down on WBBM-TV's sloppy presentation.

Industry people read message boards... But I doubt that had anything to do with a change that major.

I know, lol! I was just surprised haha... If only they would continue to fix it up to at least get it in a functional state. :bang:

Indeed... Interestingly the local boards (think CRM) seem to get stations to listen fairly well. WBBM is pretty darn sad...

Hey, they have a weather center again! To put it nicely, it's not the best effort, but at least it's something, right?

Yep! They started this about a week ago and also use the computers in the background and a CBS 2 logo as a backdrop, zoomed in when their sitting at the computer workstations.

The other morning, Erin Kennedy and Vince Gerasole (who you can totally tell the two DON'T get along), were doing a stand-up shot where the streetview is, however they have now completely blacked out every single window on that side. It looked tacky, but sadly a new area for them, covered or not, was a huge step forward than that horseshit "news desk."

With ratings in free-fall, CBS 2 is on the verge of dumping Kate Sullivan from the evening newscasts.

While all of this is still rumor, Feder has the scoop...

Adding to speculation is word out of Miami that Irika Sargent, 5 and 11 p.m. news anchor at WFOR-TV, the CBS-owned there, recently met with CBS 2 bosses in Chicago. Sargent, 35, a graduate of the University of Missouri and Cornell Law School, practiced law for four years in New York City before anchoring in Miami and Houston. Sullivan, 39, who still identifies herself as an “East Coaster” on her Twitter profile, has made little impact in the five years since she came from WCBS-TV in New York, where she anchored morning and noon newscasts. In August, CBS 2 barely registered at 10 p.m. with a 0.7 rating among viewers between 25 and 54.

Good... they need to make some big changes over there, because their 10PM is a sleepfest. It is soooo stale. It's not entirely Sullivan's fault, but she certainly isn't helping things (she makes Micah Materre seem warm and likable). Johnson sure as hell isn't doing them any favors either; their whole core of reporters is just really weak.

Never really liked Irika Sargent that much, so if she goes away, I wouldn't care and neither would South Florida because nobody here watches WFOR 4.

WFOR 4 = WBBM 2. That's how I see it.

I'm wondering how long management is going to take to realize he *might* be part of the problem. Maybe the focus groups say differently, who knows.
