nhmediaguy 3 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I found these new graphics posted on WECT today. Looks like Raycom is going to at least new weather graphics. I watched them online tonight and did not see the new graphics. Will be interested in seeing them on-air. http://www.wect.com/category/167290/first-alert-forecast-center
TennTV1983 806 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 It's an improvement, but looks way too much like a copycat of Gannett's graphics.
tyrannical bastard 4028 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 A definite improvement over their previous look. It seems that clean and simple is the new trend versus the gratuitous and clunky use of 3D in broadcast packages.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 For Raycom graphics, these are excellent.
mike91 67 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 About damn time they get a nice look. I can't wait to see more of these.
Breaking News 838 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 It's an improvement, but looks way too much like a copycat of Gannett's graphics. Also looks like the new Sinclair graphics as well too... Eh it was about time.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I'd rather WVUE get these instead of the overly-flashy red, white, blue graphics. The morning newscast on 12/11 didn't use the new graphics either. Great find though nhmediaguy, I don't think any of us expected Raycom to be working on another graphics package already.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Raycom goes the every other year cycle for graphics, especially at WOIO. I wouldn't be suprised is WOIO is using these graphics by this time next year.
Ntropolis 598 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Those are slick! I haven't seen them used on-air yet. I wonder if Raycom is transitioning to Stephen Arnold music packages? According to the NMSA, WMC switched to Inergy. WECT's also running a promo right now with the "Kingdom of the Blind" production track that was used by KOKH and KWES.
TennTV1983 806 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I wonder if Raycom is transitioning to Stephen Arnold music packages? According to the NMSA, WMC switched to Inergy. WECT's also running a promo right now with the "Kingdom of the Blind" production track that was used by KOKH and KWES. I first noticed that about a week ago when WMC's newly-retitled "[insert Sponsor Here] Sports Desk" segment started using the music (even made a mention of it in the No Emotion box).
Ntropolis 598 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Caught this new promo graphic this morning.
tyrannical bastard 4028 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 ..and based on this job posting, WXIX in Cincinnati is about to undergo an "extreme makeover" of their own. https://careers-raycommedia.icims.com/jobs/2972/senior-marketing-producer/job The good thing with them, is that they didn't take the plunge into the awful current package that has taken over most of Raycom's stations.
Ntropolis 598 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 WECT debuted the new graphics and Inergy today.
24994J 5621 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Looks pretty good. Black boxes and Gotham are getting pretty old, and it's a very simple look, but it seems well-executed and it's by no means offensive.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Well I have to admit these look WAAAAAY better than Raycom's Red, White, and Blue graphics. However, I have a feeling that they look like a combination of NBC Look G and Sinclair graphics. Plus, the time bug looks a little bit Powerpoint-ish. Hopefully, Raycom blesses WBTV and the other stations not using "Raycom Look 2013" with these graphics.
Ntropolis 598 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I wonder how this will pan out on WSFX...
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I wonder how this will pan out on WSFX... I just watched the 10pm Livestream of WSFX and I noticed that they use more orange and less blue and instead of Inergy they use Aerial.
CircleSeven 1960 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Although the graphics is still the same (for now), WMBF just switched with The Rock.
scrabbleship 429 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 WMC switched to Inergy. Given that WMC was a Scripps station for decades, the irony is delicious.
LexTVandRadio 418 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I wish our local station WTVQ would get sold to Raycom. They already have the red, white and blue theme going for them.
MikePulse 318 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 According to the NMSA, WMC switched to Inergy. Although the graphics is still the same (for now), WMBF just switched with The Rock. As posted in the No Emotion Box, the reign of Newschannel on WAFB has ended. The new package: CBS Local. [Even as I'm writing this, I'm still baffled] We can only wonder what this means for "The Southeast News Leader"...
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 What's next? WOIO gets This is the Place?
news89 468 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Oh no on WAFB... When WTOC drops Newschannel it will be truly end of a era.
Ntropolis 598 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 What's next? WOIO gets This is the Place? CBS Local would be my guess.
