CLETVFan 367
As mentioned in another thread, WUAB's frequency has been sold in the Spectrum Auction: http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2017/02/channel_43_will_remain_on_the_air_only_its_transmitter_was_sold.html#incart_river_index The station is expected to remain on the air, but will move to WOIO's transmitter. They haven't announced exactly how WUAB will be identified on-air after the change, and where exactly it will move to, but they did issue a statement on selling. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/raycom-issues-statement-about-sole-station-sold-in-spectrum-auction/186046 The likely move would be to have WUAB and its subchannels broadcast as WOIO's additional subchannels (i.e. 19-3, 19-4, 19-5). So what will it's moniker be? Can we assume there is no problem using WAUB as it's name? Or is the "WAUB" gone in the memories of thousands of little children over the ages..? Or do you do like in radio...??? Call WAUB "The Jack" or the "Breeze" or just good old "Wooooob"??? "WAUB on WOIO punto 2" sounds pretty silly.... How do you preserve something you were just trying to kill? The Frog 433
WUPV has cashed in and will move to VHF: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/washington/wupv-richmond-will-be-moving/163443 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/9/#findComment-167769 Share on other sites
CircleSeven 1956
The likely move would be to have WUAB and its subchannels broadcast as WOIO's additional subchannels (i.e. 19-3, 19-4, 19-5). Even though both stations will share the same frequency, WUAB will use the same virtual channel as they're using now (43.1, 43.2, 43.3). WUPV has cashed in and will move to VHF: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/washington/wupv-richmond-will-be-moving/163443 Surprised they're not channel sharing with WWBT. But that's probably a good thing bandwidth wise. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14126-all-about-raycom-media/page/9/#findComment-167770 Share on other sites

tyrannical bastard 3962
WUPV is actually an American Spirit sidecar station...so they will be the ones to realize the benefits of the auction? I'll bet several other stations in the same situation (WDBD, WLOO, WUPW and one of the Hawaii stations) will likely cash out as well.. CLETVFan 367
Even though both stations will share the same frequency, WUAB will use the same virtual channel as they're using now (43.1, 43.2, 43.3). Surprised they're not channel sharing with WWBT. But that's probably a good thing bandwidth wise. Newsblues had this headline today regarding WUAB: Raycom will move Cleveland station to sub-channel http://www.newsblues.com/ So that could mean it might be at 19-2 or wherever it will end up. So far, Raycom and WOIO and WUAB are all tight-lipped about a lot of things regarding the move. It would be foolish to not call the station "43" in any way. In paper though, WUAB has pretty much been a subchannel for WOIO since 1994 despite a longer span in Cleveland television. Eat News 4745
Can you have subchannels with different designation on the same signal? Like a 19.1 and a 43.1? I don't think that's a good idea, messing with the natural order of things in nature. Someone could get hurt with such shenanigans and tom foolery. Samantha 2896
Can you have subchannels with different designation on the same signal? Like a 19.1 and a 43.1? The answer is yes. Out here, we have a mux featuring 48.1 and 58.1. If you really want to get wild, go to Mexico where there are transmitters with 11.1, 14.1, 14.2, 20.1, 22.1 and 45.1 — on one mux. And those names pale in comparison to "43 The Block." Which Raycom used on WUAB. TWICE. NEOMatrix 1302
WUAB is so far gone right now, Raycom might as well not use "43" in any branding anymore. Get ready for "19 Plus" in the Fall of 2017 (to coincide with the return of "CBS 19" to WOIO). CircleSeven 1956
The FCC greenlighted the Calkins deal today (3/3). WTXL & WWSB going to Raycom, while WAAY is going to Heartland Media. They still cannot close this deal until the auction is completely over. The parties shall not consummate the assignment until after issuance of the Auction 1000 Closing and Channel Reassignment Public Notice, as described in the February 6, 2017, Public Notice (DA 17-134).
