LexTVandRadio 418 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 How long did they have that set?
William1111 41 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 They should really consider naming it the "Alison Parker and Adam Ward Studio"
Ntropolis 599 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 How long did they have that set? 2002, when they built their current facility. It's remained largely unchanged since then.
tw-804 194 Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 The new set is under construction and here's a teaser. Coming later this month, the set will be complete. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153132301577217

ToriElectra 292 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Also note, they pre-empted reruns of Andy Griffith for weather coverage. One has to wonder when they'll finally debut a newscast at 5:30- after all, their rivals have had them for years, and they could always move Andy back an hour, or put him on their MyNet subchannel.

Plus, the Saturday morning news was expanded for weather coverage as well. They'll expand their weekend morning newscasts too at some point.

MidwestTV 1244 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Oh...oh...whose desk does theirs remind me of?
news89 468 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 WDBJ 7 will debut new set tonight at 5pm. This "Mornin" they showed a sneak peek of the new set/studio. Intersting design for the desk. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153160621837217&id=26382032216
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 WDBJ debuted the brand-new set earlier tonight. It's just amazing, even for a small-market station. http://www.newscaststudio.com/setstudio/wdbj/?utm_source=FB&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=FBPost The designers and fabricators did an amazing job.
mike91 67 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I really like the 7 shaped desk. It is refreshing to see a little spice in a world where most sets are cookie cutter. They also got new graphics (nice step up from what they had before) But, they are still using Impact V.2 (which is starting to sound really tired)
who?cares 255 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 It appears they picked up the WANE Graphics.
rkolsen 1686 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 The studio looks great. I like the seven shaped desk - there have been a few similarly shaped like KSL and MSNBC's 3K but this one is more dramatic. Edit: They're more V shaped.
newsie 11 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 It appears they picked up the WANE Graphics. This is interesting given that WANE is owned by Media General. Or was the package from a third party?
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 The "7"-shaped desk is so '70s... WTVJ for example. Yawn, next! We're running out of original ideas for new desks, aren't we?

Well, yeah, but now it's kinda retro- outside of WTVJ, when wa the last time you saw a desk shaped like the station's number and/or logo. I mean, WSVN and/or WHDH never seem to have done that, and you'd think they would.

That's my point. It's not original anymore. Here's the video that features WTVJ's "4"-shaped desk in the '70s (CBS at the time - 1:36-1:38 into):
C Block 1566 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 7-shaped desks? The first thing I thought of were these. Nothing new, and you apparently don't even need to be on channel 7 to have one. I think they look really awkward when it comes to shot blocking too... grabbed from here grabbed from
Ntropolis 599 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Looking nice! Graphics debuted... last week maybe? I was in Roanoke on Friday and they were using these graphics with the temporary set.
WXmanTim 88 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Set is very nice. The graphics are ok, but I fail to understand the need to insert WDBJ [7] next to the talent name in the cg. The [7] logo is already in the bug.
