CBS dumps WILM for WWAY

From this study, putting a Telemundo affiliate or a Univision affiliate would not serve the area well considering no other part of the state has a Univision or Telemundo affiliate at all. And it would make the most sense in Charlotte/Raleigh/The Triad but not in Wilmington. Maybe if Fayetteville was part of the Wilmington DMA, but when they were placed with Raleigh, there is currently not a need for it.

Raleigh has a univison affiliate. WUVC 40 owned and operated by univision out of Fayetteville. Wilmington also has an Estrella Tv affiliate WADA 43. Not on cable and is a low power station but it's there.

WUVC is available throughout the state via Time Warner cable, expect Wilmington oddly, per Wikipedia and have replaced the national univison feed. WILM could try something similar replacing the national Telemundo feed on cable systems. Combining the affiliation with WRAL news and you might get some takers.

Wouldn't/Couldn't WILM pick up Cozi? If 3.1 is ABC, 3.2 is CBS and 3.3 is CW that leaves Cozi on the outside?

Personally, living in Ocean Isle being able to stop my subscription to CBS All Access ($7 a month) is great. I watch too many shows on CBS and it doesn't come in OTA, nor does 24.

Not too sure if this has anything to do with this matter. But recently, Morris (owners of WWAY) bought an unbuilt construction permit of W04DQ-D from Spirit of Prayer Ministries for $45K. The sale was greenlighted on 11/4.

Could this new LP be used for its CBS or CW HD signal?

Could be for CBS. CW will remain on a subchannel because I don't see it going to a main channel.

Could be a split 1080 CBS/720 CW easily; KXJB-LD in Fargo is under the same setup with Gray (WWAY-DT2 wouldn't be bad since DT1 is 720p, but the CW at this point wants their Plus stations to be HD whenever possible). More interesting is that they were able to score a Channel 4 translator, so "CBS 4" is a slam-dunk branding there.

Also, "The Spirit of Prayer" in this case couldn't beat "The Payment of Money" :p.

I think W47CK should give up MyTV and let WILM-LD have it.

Since W47CK is still analog-only and doesn't even cover Wilmington (except on cable).

As we get closer to the affiliation switch, it looks like WILM will live on... there's a modified logo on the station's website: http://www.wilm-tv.com

WILM-TV 10, Always Great Entertainment! I'm wondering if they'll keep the syndicated shows they're running (including Rachael Ray, Dr. Phil, The Doctors, Big Bang Theory).

WWAY is adding noon and 7pm newscasts on the new CBS station.

As for W47CK... I don't think it exists anymore. It's not on cable anywhere. The cable system in Brunswick County carries MyNetworkTV from WBTW 13.2.

Looking at the guides, WILM will be running a typical independent schedule.

  • Rachael Ray (9am), Dr. Phil (4pm), The Doctors (5pm), & The Big Bang Theory (7pm) are being kept in their original timeslots, with Phil getting an additional airing at 10pm.
  • Access Hollywood (6:30pm), Access Hollywood Live (11am), Crime Watch Daily (2pm) & the cancelled Celebrity Name Game (10am) will be added to the daytime schedule. AH is currently aired after Corden at 1:37am.
  • It looks like the station might be airing different shows on the 9pm hour. On Monday (1/2), it's Blue Bloods; on Tuesday (1/3) it's Leverage; and on Thursday (1/5), it's Pawn Stars & Forensic Files. Both latter shows will also be aired regularly on weekdays (Pawn at 3pm & Forensic at 11:35pm).
  • And simulcast of WRAL's news broadcast are being kept (and even expanded on the early shows; 5-9am, 12-1pm, 6-6:30pm, & 11-11:35pm).

I'm just surprised they're not taking the 10:00pm from WRAZ as well.

WILM is also adding WRAL's "Tar Heel Traveler" on the weekend.

Under the CBS affiliation right now in the event that WRAL's 11pm news is pushed late due to NBC programming (Sunday Night Football, etc.), they run a tape-delayed WRAZ 10pm newscast.

Nothing a permanent marker can't fix...

Or just go down to the nearby hardware store and pick up a 59¢ adhesive address number; looks odd but it would do the job.

This is Morris we're talking about though, so the poor employee would have it taken off their check in 1¢ increments over 59 weeks.
