Guest Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Looks like the Nexstar station in Salt Lake City has received a major upgrade.
TennTV1983 807 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I am salivating. Kudos to Nexstar for actually putting out a pretty good set design that doesn't include a certain desk that was copied from KLAS (the industrial theme is an interesting choice). Also, they've gone back to using the "News 4 Utah" branding, which hasn't been used in years. EDIT: It appears they have switched from Overture to Guardian for music.
Samantha 2902 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 The logo that reads "News ABC 4 Utah" is a kludge, but you know what I don't see anywhere? Purple!
MidwestTV 1244 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 The urban, steel-bridge themes seem more New York or Chicago than Salt Lake City. Either way, gorgeous studio. Good on Nexstar.
onthesea 292 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 The logo that reads "News ABC 4 Utah" is a kludge, but you know what I don't see anywhere? Purple! Thankfully the purple is gone! I believe that the opens and L3 have changed too. I didn't like that KABC imitation.
AaronQ 282 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Thankfully the purple is gone! I believe that the opens and L3 have changed too. I didn't like that KABC imitation. And music as well.
atlnews2 595 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Decent Nexstar set in a box, wish it had more of a mountain theme added to it to reflect the Salt Lake area instead of generic metal and stone. Big graphics improvement over what they had. Here's a tour of the place http://www.good4utah.com/news/local-news/news4utah-debuts-new-set/876412591
DesertNewsGeek 47 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Now to change the website URL back to news4utah.com... or not.
Sendir 194 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 This is not a “set in a box”. This is 100% customized for the market.
TennTV1983 807 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 This is not a “set in a box”. This is 100% customized for the market. Nothing from Nexstar is ever in a box except for the computers, monitors and chairs. Everything else is built from the ground up locally.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 At least KTVX didn't get the "Dalek Desk".
Georgie56 3326 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Looking good! It looks very cozy and welcoming, too; perfect fit for a Rocky Mountains TV station.
jbnews 345 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Looks good! Are those the new Nexstar ABC graphics?
TennTV1983 807 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Looks GOOD! Are those the new Nexstar ABC graphics? They might as well be. Come to think of it, the graphics look sorta like a combination of KABC and WABC's current looks. Need to see it all in action though to make a judgement call.
brb588 114 Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Great set. For the background behind the anchor desk--it seems like a lot of effort for "depth" for seemingly low res imagry. Wouldn't it make sense to put another monitor wall back there?

Nexstar can’t seem to stick with a color for the Utah shape of the logo. First it was red in 1994, then blue in 2007, then orange-redish in 2013, now back to red in a span of 23 years.

Honestly the current logo (excluding the massive "UTAH" plastered on it, and the ABC logo that must be stuck on it to appease the network) is timeless and would have worked in any era.

WDHN in Dothan, Alabama took the wraps off their new set today and they're getting the same graphics.
KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 In case you're wondering what they look like, here are the first few minutes of a recent newscast which showcases these graphics. It contains the open at 1:23 and looks really nice. (courtesy of Kim Fischer's YouTube channel)
