Might as well be Shannon Miller anchoring WVIT's weekday morning news permanently as Heidi Voight announces that's she not going back to the morning show... or to WVIT. She's out.

Shannon has been morning co-anchor since Nov 2023. She’s been anchoring solo for a while while Heidi has been out. Wonder if they will pair someone with Shannon. There is a new news/sports reporter with prior morning news anchoring experience - David Horwitz, maybe we’ll see him in the anchor chair soon. Seems odd to have a solo anchor from 4:30-7am, but 4 anchors for 4-6:30pm

Forgive me for the link to the source. However, it looks like for the first time, KCAL will have some primetime competition. 8 and 9pm news from KTTV are coming to KCOP.

Will these be live broadcasts or a repeat of the 6 pm newscasts like Fox 5 is doing on WWOR (my9) in NYC at 8 pm?

If I'm reading this correctly, they sound like they'll be live as this is L.A. after all.

It's ambiguous, just like when they started up the 8pm on WWOR.  I hope you are right for both 8&9.  Once launched we will know for sure.

WVIT doesn't have a weekday morning co-anchor yet to replace Heidi Voight, but they have now announced a new weekend morning anchor: Taylor Kinzler, transitioning away from their lifetime show, CT Live.

This is inaccurate. In the same press release on Taylor Kinzler’s new role is the announcement of Eddie Randall (KSN-TV) as new co-anchor of NBC CT Today weekdays along side Shannon Miller.

Oh didn't know that. Sorry I jumped the gun on that one.

However, I do have this one. One longtimer at WOWT will replace another (already announced retirement) longtimer at WOWT.

A very well deserving pick too... Brian Mastre.

After over two decades at WTVD, most of that anchoring mornings and with now-retired John Clark, Barbara Gibbs won't have to wake up as early as she has been.

She's transitioning to their noon and 4:00 p.m. newscasts with Amber Rupinta.

I posted on the Gray Media thread on WWAX, the Hartford home for carrying four Boston Red Sox spring training games this year. I just found out that it is in partnership with NESN (no surprise there) and that there are others too who will be carrying their games with the most surprising to me: Boston's WHDH.

  • WHDH Boston (The sister to MY favorite, WSVN Miami)
  • WYCI Burlington (WCAX's sister)
  • WPXT Portland (WMTW's sister; only carrying two out of the four)

Those in Bangor, Presque Isle, Springfield, and my third home market, Providence/New Bedford, are out of luck. No OTA coverage there but instead will have to watch via NESN or their OTT platform, NESN 360.

Two big names are going into the R.I. Radio and Television Hall of Fame this year:

WLNE's main anchor John DeLuca (26 years there) and WJAR's morning man Mario Hilario (nearly 30 years now).

Longtime reporter and sometimes anchor on the weekends Sean Ley is out at WDIV. He had been there quite awhile.

Meanwhile WXYZ has added Demetrios Sanders as a reporter. He comes from WOOD in Grand Rapids.

A true legend in this business is soon leaving us for retirement: WHIO-TV's Cheryl McHenry after nearly 44 years.

Not only that, the station wasted NO TIME in finding her replacement: Gabrielle Enright, who's been there for nearly 28 years.

Wonder if he will follow his ex-wife Sandra Ali over to CBS Detroit.

John Huck has left KVVU Las Vegas after an amazing 23-year run. Also, it was immediate to start his own media consulting company so don't expect any goodbyes from him.

Time to add another name to the expanding list of TV news retirements this year: KWTV's Dean Blevins. 1400 KREF's Toby Rowland is coming back full-time (he was part-time as an analyst for their Sunday night Oklahoma Sports Blitz) to become sports director.

EDIT: I have to add another one. KYTV's Lisa Rose's last day after 41 years is July 25th.
