Effective today, KDFW is expanding their noon newscast to an hour. DFW will once again have an hour-long noon newscast since WFAA moved their’s to 11am in 2018 to accommodate GMA3.

Two things...

I don't think I've ever seen a report about KAPP/KVEW win in any timeslot. Thanks to great help from good 'ol pal Austin Reed, KAPP/KVEW is #1 at 5:00pm.

Some asshat decided to cause harm or damage and temporarily turn off KWTV's radar. Thankfully, it has been restored but police are looking for the person who did it.

Wow. Good for them! They’ve been the low-budget cellar dweller for years. Morgan Murphy has spent some money here after downsizing in the last decade. There is a real set (super basic), news programming in competitive slots, and better on-air presentation than their competitors. They’re up against Cowles’ KNDO/U and their boring “NonStop Local” brand, and Sinclair’s standard output with KIMA/KEPR. Although, big props to KIMA’s John Kennedy O’Connor.

If my addition is right, I think this gives KDFW a weekday news amount of 11½ hours (not counting The Ten, their recent 10am addition helmed by some of their newsfolks, but definitely not a newscast; and not counting their overnight news repeat).

Actually... 12 hours:

4-10am, 12-1pm, 4-7pm, 9-11pm.

Oh, jeez, I forgot they added 6:30pm.  I'm never up or watching then.  Extra was previously in that slot.

Over at Fox Sports, its FS1 cancelled three of its daytime talk shows--Breakfast Ball, The Facility, and Speak, and also Speak's lead host Joy Taylor is no longer with the network.  All three shows were the brainchild of now-recently axed content executive Charlie Dixon, who was at the center of a sexual-harassment lawsuit filed against him, the network, Skip Bayless, and Taylor.

It looks like WYTV has ceded to WKBN doing their news on the weekends.

I've seen it done on holidays, but I wonder if it's a temporary thing, or a sign of more things to come....

I think WKBN has been short-staffed enough on weekends that they don’t bother with having somebody for WYTV. For a while, the weekend weatherperson would do the weather at both WKBN AND WYTV, so it’s not surprising. Honestly, I think Nexstar may say “Screw It” and pull the plug on separate WYTV newscasts.

Whether they are truly short-staffed by people leaving and can't fill the jobs, or simply choosing not to,  they're saving money either way.

WYTV did have a technical meltdown on their 11pm show last week and ended up simulcasting WKBN's news for the rest of the show.

Ay! Betty and Julie finally have someone else to fight with 🥳

Yeah. She's known as a diva who's on TV strictly to want to be on TV and nothing else.

I won't watch her as much anyways since my allegiance is still on WSVN 7.

Unrelated:

Stacia Naquin is coming back home to Columbus.

This time... to WBNS 10TV.

https://www.dispatch.com/story/entertainment/television/2025/07/15/stacia-naquin-columbus-ohio-10tv-news/85205481007/

Also unrelated:

Sara Knox has been KIMT's "Chief" for a few months now, with Aaron White departing for WBNS.

I put it in quotes because it was unofficial. Today, it became official. She's the new Chief and considering she's been there for 8 years (outside of a year-long hiatus to work at KUTV), its well deserved.

If it was pre-Nexstar WYTV, they would’ve put on a random *Coach* episode during the difficulty. 😂

Wowww. That's a hot take bro. I like her becasue she’s from North Carolina she's an NC State grad. She’s only in her late 20s and is already in a top 15 market.

Nah not really. They all have to bow down to the Chief Betty Davis another ex-North Carolina broadcaster.

I know, but that's how she got into trouble before at WTSP, which eventually led to her getting fired by just caring more about social media and the social life than the job she is hired to do (especially if you do so on a station-branded account). I won't get into it more, but yeah... I probably won't watch her, and that's just my own opinion (and mine alone. Its okay if you like her). She'll fit the Miami lifestyle wonderfully.

I was going to say, after checking her socials, she's got an awul lot of time off to froclick around the world for a tertiary employee. Her socials are giving 'influenza' vibes and I thought FTVlive will end up roasting her but I see she already got in Scott's crosshairs https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/10/27/gold-digger😬

she's actually not half bad on air. Rather smooth, and comes off competent

Well I for one cannot wait to hear the stories

Woah. A major technical failure took place during CBS Primetime's last hour (10pm ET/9pm CT) last night. Here's how some CBS affiliates handled it:

Something tells me that Gen Z tv personalities especially females will be very colorful people. My generation is just weird man. I like the millennial tv personalities a little better, I just have this awful feeling about my generation it why I’m afraid to go into tv news I’ve considered to look at other things.
