TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 WDSU New Orleans has announced today that Scot Pilié is their new Chief Meteorologist, replacing their previous chief who I won't name here because he's under disgrace (domestic abuse and child endangerment arrest from last October). https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1470510168452440&id=100064804118189
SFTV 567 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 4 years after the new set debut. KNTV is getting a lighting upgrade and in a temporary studio seen below. talk about a blast from the past the 2016-2022 window wall and anchor desk was salvaged after the new set was built and is back on screen for the time being. https://www.facebook.com/100057978044857/posts/pfbid02qCfb48c2Qcv4maVxytHFG6kLpeuSZz4BZZW9B6skGwFxS37jmuXaYduj5b74WSojl/?mibextid=wwXIfr 1

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Another big retirement announcement in my state. WBBH Fort Myers' Kellie Burns. She's calling it a career on June 4th after 33 years there and gets a one-hour special that night, in primetime, as a tribute. https://www.gulfcoastnewsnow.com/article/anchor-kellie-burns-retire-gulf-coast-news-nbc-fort-myers/71205325
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 For the first time since News 24 Houston went off the air in 2004, Houston has 24-hour local cable news once again, with the Houston feed (also seen in Beaumont/Port Arthur) of Spectrum News 1 Texas. https://thedesk.net/2026/05/spectrum-news-1-xfinity-tv-houston/
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 When you spend a long time at any market, its hard to find a reason to leave... unless your hometown market calls you. That's what's happening to WKMG's Louis Bolden. After a 25 year run at the station, he will be leaving on May 20th to become the new main evening anchor at WHBQ FOX 13 Memphis. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1357873666151836&id=100057876469737
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 After nearly 8 years on the air in SoCo, KKTV's Chief Meteorologist Sydney Jackson is leaving the station and Colorado to join her fiancé for a new relocation opportunity. She's also getting out before Scripps does their damage on KKTV and merging it with KOAA's operations in due course time. 10:00pm tonight is her last newscast. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.kktv.com/2026/05/09/kktvs-sydney-jackson-signs-off-after-nearly-8-years-southern-colorado/%3foutputType=amp

Liz Quirantes has been the face of several generations across her 35 years at WPEC, including being a part of the station's version of their dream team from the late 90s to mid 2000s, which included Curt Fonger, John Matthews, and Pat Murphy. Today, she has announced her retirement after an amazing, wonderful run. The goodbyes have begun. This includes a special surprise from some of her former colleagues, including Wendy Rutledge, Claudia Shea, and Chandra Bill, all of whom haven't been seen on WPEC's airwaves in decades.
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 KETV Omaha's Samantha Pastorino, the station's weekday morning traffic reporter, will be heading back to work soon after being hit TWICE by two separate drivers in two separate instances back in March. Its a PSA for when you're behind the wheel to PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN. I will never understand why you have to call or text someone while behind the wheel. Its distracting and so irresponsible. https://www.ketv.com/article/omaha-ketv-samantha-pastorino-recovering-crashes/71221607 1

Sorry if you're joking and I'm just not picking up on it, but if you're serious, the article says that both of the incidents were outside of work. So she wasn't actually on air.

Back when he was an anchor in Fort Wayne, he ran for an open seat from Indiana in 2010, but placed 3rd in the Republican caucus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Indiana's_3rd_congressional_district_special_election Don't know if anyone posted it here yet but evening anchor John Brown will be returning to Good Day Orlando to fill Ryan Elijah's spot. No word yet on who John's evening successor will be. It's not often you see someone enthusiastic to go from evening hours (a terrific sleep schedule) to early AM. https://www.fox35orlando.com/video/fmc-r7om0g75wu2jgi42 John is a natural fit. It also appears evening anchor Marlisa Goldsmith is no longer doing the late news at 11 PM. I liked the broadcast because they tried to switch up the format from a standard 11 PM show, plus the set's dim lighting matched the late night vibe. Edited May 12 by MediaZone4K

TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Today is May 12th, 2026. Tonight is the 40th anniversary of the current NBC peacock logo. One of the most famous broadcasting logos that has ever existed all got started on NBC's 60th Anniversary Special. It has served television greatly since and has become NBC's most famous logo, as it still has staying power after 40 years as of today. For those who don't know, the six feathers represent (at the time of launch) different divisions NBC had. Yellow = NBC News Orange = NBC Sports Red = NBC Entertainment Violet = NBC Stations Blue = NBC Network Green = NBC Productions IMHO, its become my favorite logo in all of U.S. broadcasting, and I love, still to this day, how colorful and vivid the logo looks. Yes, it's had a few moderations and updates over the years, but to me, nothing beats the original. Happy 40th Anniversary to the current NBC peacock logo. 8 2
TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Back to normal programming now after an awesome NBC peacock logo moment there... TheRolyPoly 3510 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 I keep finding more news...
