Too bad that he closed them. There was some great stuff mixed in on those accounts, not just South Bend IN, but also Midwest and East Coast TV, some newscast samples too.

Latter-Day Saints blocking and yanking videos? That's new. Maybe I should watch out myself and check the AVTB account...

The latest to be affected by community guidelines abuse is the Studio 31 Media Archive, which took down all of its newscast videos (despite news being a fair use exception) due to community guidelines violations filed by two Gmail accounts of unknown origin.

WHAT?? This is so unfair. No way two Gmail idiots just decided to do that. He also mentioned his car being broken, but it’s really sad because I always relied on Studio 31 for everything news. Let’s hope his journey successfully continues.

Hi folks, your old pal Steve here.

I came back once again to share with you an email that was sent to me from our friend Scott Kimmell regarding some of the post-2010 Hearst Corporation material being taking down from his YouTube channel, including the WGAL material me and a friend donated to him for use on his channel.

Here's his response.

"WGAL filed a copyright takedown of the October 2023 morning news broadcast. This has resulted in a copyright strike. It will be removed in 90 days.

There was no specific part of the video that was targeted, rather it was the entire newscast claimed by WGAL.

To be on the safe side, I have privatized all of the WGAL uploads that stem from after 2010. The earlier broadcasts (1989, 1999, and 2006)
are still up.

I've done similar things to the uploads of the other Hearst-owned stations on my channel, including WLWT, WTAE, WVTM, WISN, WBAL, KSBW, and KQCA.

The copies posted of WGAL and other Hearst stations will remain on the Internet Archive for now, unless I get a notice from them."

Geez, I never expected WGAL and Hearst to force other YouTubers take down some of their videos on YouTube. Makes me wonder if other broadcasters will eventually follow suit.

This is why I avoid posting most newscasts from 2010 and later. Besides, why should I? I collect *VHS and Betamax*, not DVR recordings...

On the other hand, videos will be coming slowly but surely to the AVTB account. There is now a 10-video limit per day, then it forces the account to verify with a QR code or picture or some random thing. I guess the site thinks we're spamming it or something...

That's because YouTube has been disabling advanced features for random accounts because of likely the use of adblock.

Looks like Pannoni4 might be gone. I don't see it anymore on YouTube. That was Michael's oldest-running channel...like 8 or 9 years old. 😢

Michael has had so many accounts terminated for a long time now. Hopefully, he'll elaborate somewhere eventually.

Yeah, something unexpected probably yanked him off. Shows can last for years on the Tube, and then boom! copyright strike hell. But even Internet Archive isn't immune to the yanking...my old '3' channel got locked due to multiple takedowns. Most videos are still there, but I can't upload anything new.

Community guidelines? Seriously? This wasn't a copyright strike at all?

Michael needs to look into this. What were the details of the community guidelines violation? Was it a newscast or newsmagazine that had a report of a shooting or a rape case? It could also be a hacker like you said, thinking everything he was posting was a bunch of spam.

TotallyKyle, A channel that had loads of Tampa area commercials including promos for Newscasts and Syndicated shows not seen anywhere else before in which the videos were titled "TBTapes", deleted their Youtube account. I wish I would have saved most of the videos but never thought of it. Hopefully he or his videos will resurface again or somewhere else.

I think he had an Internet Archive account to upload full tapes at one point, not sure if its still there.

I found that he does! Although not all of it that was Youtube. Thanks!

SESAC is blocking so many YouTube videos as of today. This could impact many people in the VHS community.

Yep. It's impacting my radio aircheck playlist. Several are blocked off due to this but I can catch them if I use a VPN and plug in a different country to then watch it.

Bumping the thread to mention that MSTMike3K, the user who uploaded tons of Columbus, GA clips, was recently terminated. It may have been from the SESAC dispute, but perhaps not, as I've noticed in the past he had uploaded a number of vids that appeared copyright strike worthy.

Before the termination, Mike started a backup account, whether or not the vids from the old account are put on there is still yet to be seen.

If you have sporting content in your hands + are willing to share with the world, be careful out there because one of the most followed accounts in the archival community, Dave Volsky of DV's back door channel got terminated this past week, according to fellow archivist "Bart Simpson". I agree with one of the posters that channels like Volsky put a spotlight not only on how far the game has come, but the forgotten or underrated players not often mentioned in the sport discussion. You'd think they would create a museum where they could show highlights or full games in theaters for attendees, Pro Football Hall of Fame aside. (hell, something similar should be built for pop culture or news, but I digress) Hell his channel has even made it thru the press at times. Example:
