The bare bones temp set actually looks more up to date than the outgoing set.

I wonder if they're using the upstairs setup that KSWB when the current set was built? The textured wall panels were also from KSWB's previous set.

Might be - someone in another post mentioned KUSI in a “new building.”

 

I remember some media piece saying they would consolidate at KUSIs building because half the building was vacant. 

 

Maybe they are in the KSWB temp set area while the KUSI building is renovated for dual use. 

 

Also a data point…a job posting for a weekend morning producer says KUSI is #1 in that time slot. 

 

Unfortunately for both stations the rescan this month is turbulent - lots of confused people on social plus streaming has gone wonky in the last week.

As of today KUSI.com redirects into Fox5SanDiego, with the KUSI logo at the top adjacent to Fox 5.

KUSI running promos that the 10pm is the #1 late night news in San Diego. So beating Fox 5 and presumably the 11pm network affiliate shows.

 

Hired a weekend evening weather anchor - had been a couple years since they last had one. 

 

A Fox 5 reporter became weekend anchor after Rafer Weigel left KUSI over not getting a fully weekday assignment.

 

Story selection is about 25% KUSI red meat, 25% stories you wouldn't have seen covered under the McKinnons, 50% the middle of the road stuff that overlapped with 'normal' stations before the sale. 

 

They just shot evening anchor team promos so appear satisfied with that team.

Last week KSWB Fox 5 moved into the KUSI building, and...

 

KUSI got new graphics and after nearly 30 years dropped Gari's The One and Only. Not sure what the new package is, other that it sounds like pretty much every other generic package these days. 

 

De emphasizing the Good Morning San Diego branding - no longer featured in the bug. 

 

No more AccuWeather.

 

And fewer cities in the forecast highs/lows section - gone from it is Rancho Santa Fe, home to the McKinnons. 

 

Graphics are still skewed to an older audience - big type, but less 3D.

So... I just got this email from YouTube TV regarding CW content saying it's available on KUSI and that the KFMB subchannel will no longer be available. 

 

I don't know if I missed something, bit I didn't realize this was happening.

They both aired CW primetime programming last night. I knew it was inevitable this would happen, but it'd be nice if there was advanced notice of the switch rather than surprise ppl in San Diego like they did.
