In Canada, CityNews has new look. A major departure from previous formats. They now have new set, which ditched the standing anchor format. Honestly why.

Now we just need to get the rest of the industry to knock off this 'standing while anchoring' idiocy.

This is a terrible move. CItyNews/Pulse is iconic for having its anchors roaming and wandering its working newsroom and perching on various locations. EVERYONE copied CIty. They did it the best. This new look is not City and not just departure but nothing like the DNA of the original channel. As Rogers has all but erased its orginal format created by Moses Znaimer. The original CityTv CityPulse format was copied all around world or at least elements of it. Its really sad to see it removed and yet another boring desk bound format in its place. Sad day in creative news broadcasting take a hit and yet another boring corporate-mandated looking format in its place.

The CityPulse format effectively died in 2005, right before Moses sold it. Or it died with Mark Dailey in 2011. It's not really good to pretend to be something you are not and have not been for a long time.

 

And given the absolutely sorry state of Canadian television, chairs for CityNews anchors is far, far down on the level of importance.

Okay, this is the dumbest CityNews update they ever did. I'm bot even Canadian but I even know that the anchor stand in the newscasts. As what Rusty Muck said, it's far down the importance level. Just why would they make an move??
