WTSP 11:00 news clip from January 2001. Pretty interesting as this was when Tampa was hosting the Super Bowl. WTSP was badly in need of an overhaul at this point. In April, they debuted a new set and graphics. There was a promo from early 2001 I wish I could find where they highlighted the upgrades.

As late as November 1986, WESH had still not yet used the new NBC peacock:

Try telling that to WTOV in Steubenville, who continued using it until late 1987!

Say what? Is that why they got rid of his voiceovers?!? It all makes sense now!!!

Anyway, Rest In Peace, Ed, you’ve earned it.

Long before WGNO had an actual functioning news operation that tried to compete with WWL, WDSU and WVUE, the then-independent Ch. 26 - like many indies around the country - carried prime time news briefs in lieu of traditional half-hour newscasts.

For years during the pre-ABC era, these news briefs were anchored by Mel Leavitt (legendary WDSU newsman/sportscaster) who hosted public affairs programs on Ch. 26 in addition to booth announcing for the station, as you'll hear in the movie opens on this clip:

Great find! Over 9 hours worth of clips from the Los Angeles TV stations from 1970, most of which concerns the goevernor election. I don't know if there any opens, considering theres over 9 hours worth, but you'll see tons of big names in their early years, like Bill Bonds, Tom Brokaw, Jim Mitchell, Tom Snyder, Bob Abernathy, Clayton Vaughn, along with other mainstays like Hal Fishman, George Putnam and Baxter Ward. Enjoy!
