  1. Past hour
  2. I don't care for Nightly in 1A. It would be nice to have Nightly/Top Story in its own studio along with special reports/breaking news. Could use for other broadcasts as well.
  3. If they want a new studio, Studio 3K may be perfect permanent place for Tom to anchoring Nightly News, It is currently vacant since WNBC moved to newly-renovated and half-sized 3B (together with WNJU) in 2023. Studio 3K is a very large studio, and much larger than Studio 1A that Nightly currently use. Assuming that NBCU think that the new studio (even new graphics) for Tom is necessary, they could renovate that recently-vacant studio to make it more "European-feel".
  4. And hopefully a new studio is in the cards too. Studio 1A has never felt right for Nightly, imo
  5. Today
  6. Just like when Brian Williams took over from Tom Brokaw, they waited a bit to switch up the graphics to ease in the change for the viewers. The networks did the same when transitioning from Charles Gibson to Diane Sawyer to David Muir. Same went for the morning shows Bryant/Katie to Katie/Matt etc.
  7. Are young people even consuming NBC News digitally?
  8. The last time Nightly News rebrand is in June 2023, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of NBC television newscast (Remember, they ditched Serif-based font in favor of NBC Tinker one to more aligned with NBC proper branding). The rebrand was happened two years before Tom takes over Lester's role permanently in June 2025. I also think that current graphics package is too futuristic but still relevant for digital audiences, which are most consumed by younger people. When Tom Llamas takes over the role 11 days from now, the current graphics package will be even more relevant, given how much younger Tom currently as a anchor (born in 1979).
  9. So... Getting that we will have no major visual changes other than Lester being swapped out for Tom, which makes sense since graphics package is still new enough. Nice touch to add Brian Williams in the mix... NBC has a history of conveniently omitting host tenures of some shows the network sees as a blemish to the franchise...
  10. Remove the Fox branding? That's only for their CBS/NBC affiliates.
  11. When and why did they replace the weather center desk? Less than 3 months in the current studio.
  12. Awesome! I'm going to give Channels a shot. Thanks!
  13. KCNC's Michelle Griego was featured on CBS Mornings today. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJ9LeidxINg/?igsh=MWM1dGlva2lncmZsYg==
  14. A promo has dropped for the transition to Tom
  15. Keith Gibson is leaving WBAY-TV to take on his most high profile gig yet... Chief Meteorologist at WISH-TV. He leaves on the 28th, starts on the 30th. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1858638894854671&id=100021257356152
  16. Here's another link via YT. Ellen and David were a great team. She will be missed. They remind me of the Kathy Brock/Allen Krashesky of Los Angeles.
  17. Hello, everyone. I have an update regarding LocalNewsTalk and our partner Discord server The NewsCenter. On Monday, The NewsCenter announced that it will be merging with the Broadcast Plaza Discord server. Emma's announcement to The NewsCenter follows. There have been a few questions as to what is happening to LocalNewsTalk following this merger. The answer is: not much! LocalNewsTalk will continue to exist, and we are working with Broadcast Plaza to continue the partnership we started with The NewsCenter. We will be updating our Discord page and adopting some Broadcast Plaza co-branding in the coming days and weeks. While the best place for questions about this merger remains the #repack channel mentioned above, I will do my best to answer any questions that this side of things may have below.

  18. Here it is on YouTube recorded via off-air by WTVM Columbus, Ga. (which airs the program at 4:30pm ET/3:30pm CT) from this YouTuber.
  19. So, she's outside now?
  20. And here's Ellen's last newscast: https://abc7.com/videoClip/16500087/
  21. Yesterday
  22. Deborah Norville wrapped her final episode on Inside Edition.
  23. Definitely Channels is your best choice in this situation; it's mainly built for Mac, provides proper TV listings and I've used it for four years and rarely had any headaches running it on my Mac Mini or anything else I want to stream from it as a server through the house and on the road. It is a paid product listings-wise at $9/month but I find it indispensable and you don't have to worry about setups or schedule XML files and configuring things unless you'd like to explore their Docker plug-ins or custom content lists.

  25. I'm looking for a little help. I recently bought an HD Home Run Tuner and have it connected to my Plex server. The issue is that some of the program information Plex provides (via Gracenote, I believe) is incorrect. I've read that it's possible to build your own programming guide using open-source apps and something like Schedules Direct, but I have no ideas beyond the basics. One complicating factor is that I'm using a Mac, and I'd like the solution to stay in this ecosystem. Any ideas? Thanks!
  26. Now we have to add Friday, May 30th for Carolyn Long for retirement from KCTV 5 Kansas City after nearly 30 years there. https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/carolyn-long-to-leave-kctv-after-nearly-30-years/ As mentioned in the KABC thread, today is Ellen Leyva's at the station but there are other anchors having their last day today too and I mentioned it a while ago but here's your refresher... • WRAL's Debra Morgan at 6pm ET after 32 years. • KENS' Deborah Knapp at 5pm CT after 38 years with the station and 50 in journalism. • WHIO's Cheryl McHenry at 6pm ET after 44 years (she already no longer does the 11pm). • WXIX's Steve Horstmeyer after 17 years there, but 48 in Cincy TV (delayed from March). Don't know his final newscast time. Retirement season is here as the "sweeps" period comes to an end. I hope some of y'all can record final newscasts for these LEGENDS of the broadcast business. It will suffer greatly as a result of them exiting the biz.
  27. I blame the Canadian media landscape for this, it wouldn't of happened had companies like Bell, Rogers and Shaw/Corus not payola the lawmakers but money talks so whatever.
  28. Today is Ellen Leyva's last day at ABC 7. The station has been doing farewell messages as they go to break all day.
