  1. Past hour
  2. Let’s not exaggerate. Unless some were deleted, of the 41 comments on that post (as of this post’s writing), only four make reference to this, and two are from people confusing the Fox network and Fox News Channel. That said, I don’t know if they’re going the WBRC route with the branding (using both callsign and network references) or dropping the Fox name entirely, since the post still makes reference to “Fox 8”, including on the standalone and desk monitors in the set pic (assuming that wasn’t taken from weeks ago, and updated graphics with the “WVUE 8” brand weren’t sent to the new control room yet).
  3. The Fleur de Lis is probably the most sacred of all above being referred to "Fox 8". It was a brilliant move by the Bensons when they bought the station, and carried on to this day. And after reading the comments, potentially losing the "Fox" branding is causing some viewers to lose their minds, because they tie it with a certain "news" channel.
  4. The comment section on @TheRolyPoly's FB link has some people calling out the dropping of FOX for the call letters already... And most are not kind. Hopefully someone is reading the early speculative feedback! Agree that when you're on top of the mountain, you need to indeed innovate and stay ahead of the game, but don't blow up what you're known for (read- the branding, the logo) Isn't a Fleur-De-Lis in NOLA like hiving a lone star on just about anything in Texas? Lots of local and regional pride that goes along with it.
  5. Today
  6. That and their icondic FOX 8 with the Fleur de LIs O
  7. Over recent weeks, I have already seen David Ono and Jovana Lara co-anchoring the 4pm and 6pm newscasts as well as Marc Brown and Michelle Fisher co-anchoring the 5pm newscasts. Brown has still been solo anchoring the 11pm newscast. Once Ellen Leyva retires, I presume that will be the official weekday afternoon/evening lineup going forward.
  8. As of this week, Lonnie is back for the 5pm and Evening news, but it seems Vanessa is covering the 6pm/11pm. It could be to ease back into work, and we'll see if Lonnie returns to the 11pm at any point, but I could see this change being permanent. Craig Allen it seems will fill in Vanessa's weekend slots (also glad he has a somewhat regular television gig now!)
  9. I'd be careful of a laundry service or laundromat with that name
  10. I look forward to the power company changing its name to....SpinCo.
  11. Please don't tell me they're rebranding as WVUE 8..... Come on Gray.... "FOX 8" is what put them on top of the ratings, WVUE is branding of an also-ran ABC affiliate that was pounded by WWL and WDSU 30 years before Fox came calling. These Fox stations don't quite have the ability to stand on their own like their other affiliated stations. Anything else would be foreign to their viewers.
  12. There was a piece of me who really appreciates seeing Craig Allen on CBS 2, and I was surprisingly getting used to Rob Marciano.
  13. Tune in tomorrow... first day in their new digs. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1137370445084228&id=100064338505464
  14. Interesting that they didn’t have a Sunday morning newscast. What was previously in that slot?
  15. @bennettmonk Since you seem to only react to posts with emojis instead of ever actually saying something, I'll post a screenshot of the thumbnail. That way we can clear up your apparent confusion ().
  16. I’m not going to speculate too much because KABC clearly knows what they are doing but if I was making the post-Ellen Leyva lineup decisions, it would look like this: Mornings: Talent stays the same (John Gregory, Leslie Sykes, Rachel Brown) 11am & 3pm: Phillip Palmer and Colleen Sullivan (Pairing that now exists) 4pm & 6pm: David Ono and Michelle Fisher 5pm & 11pm: Marc Brown and Jovana Lara Weekend Mornings: Talent stays the same (Tony Cabrera & Irene Cruz) Weekend Evenings: Jory Rand and Sophie Flay
  17. KARE 11 has been doing Sunrise six days a week for what feels like forever, yet has always been absent on Sunday mornings. Starting this weekend, they'll finally join that frame... 7-8am Sunday mornings. https://www.kare11.com/article/about-us/kare-11-sunday/89-76482c63-54e4-4946-bfe8-d2ded3ec2f58
  18. Not surprised. I had an inkling this happened. Mostly because I was thinking recently of...
  19. Yesterday
  20. With the folks behind the standard doing all they can to sabotage ATSC 3.0 as a DRM'ed mess with weakened coverage areas to distribute FAST channels and websites nobody needs, this is just another nail in the coffin for it. Sunbeam is right to just give up on it and end the farce and focus on just channel 7 alone and figure out something else for their 3.0 plans; ABC and Fox don't even take advantage of 3.0 90% of the time.
  21. When is WSVN going to adjust back to NTSC?
  22. Less than three months until the change, and WSVN/Sunbeam is asking the FCC to return to only broadcasting in ATSC 1.0 and ending its channel sharing agreement with WPLG. Currently, the WSVN spectrum has WSVN and WPLG's ATSC 1.0 channels, while the WPLG spectrum has WSVN and WPLG ATSC 3.0 channels. No similar filings from WPLG/Berkshire Hathaway to request a return to ATSC 1.0 transmission that I could find. Likely just a matter of when that is filed.
  23. Evidently it is the name of a power company in Maine that is disliked by customers. Didn't they do a trademark and use search?
  24. Spinco now has an offical name. Say hello to... Versant.
  25. I thought he allowed Mathis, Milian and Lake to have real cases?
  26. Some shows, yeah, I recall she often does WX hits during the 8am hour.
  27. Anthony and Kaitlin are a ‘interesting’ choice to pair together. Nevertheless, I don’t think WGN (or anyone else) has to worry about ‘ChicagoNOW’. They should have brought back their ‘Good Day After the Show’ Facebook Live program. It was a lot more entertaining.
