  1. Today
  2. Congratulations to Jessica. It seemed like she was the favored internal candidate as she was doing it three nights during the week while she was still doing weekends. I'm still surprised that it took them half a year to make it official, and it makes me wonder how seriously they might have been looking at external options. Not a fan of the solo anchor thing, especially at 11pm.
  3. Apologies if this isn't the right place but I also didn't want to create an entire new thread but, if there is one thing that's bothered me with the new look for the Evening News, it's the intro, it so simple, so, here's an intro concept!
  4. A video is up now on the subpage showing that WSVN is going full in on the 18 position, including a 'circle 18' logo (and a 7.2 logo) that reminds me of ABC's advertising 'bullets' in the TV Guide days.
  5. Oh, jeez, I forgot they added 6:30pm. I'm never up or watching then. Extra was previously in that slot.
  6. She's been there for nine years now?! Danggggg. I feel like its only been yesterday since she left KSNV Las Vegas.
  7. Actually... 12 hours: 4-10am, 12-1pm, 4-7pm, 9-11pm.
  8. I would assume that the area will become part of the Billings market. I agree, it's like a local co-op or the City of Glendive will set up translators.
  9. If my addition is right, I think this gives KDFW a weekday news amount of 11½ hours (not counting The Ten, their recent 10am addition helmed by some of their newsfolks, but definitely not a newscast; and not counting their overnight news repeat).
  10. Since most translators are owned by local entities in remote locations like Glendive, I would imagine either Dawson County or the city of Glendive would apply to set up a local translator to relay the stations from Billings. This is the first time in recent memory that a station going away like KXGN wipes out an entire DMA. But given the diminished state of broadcasting as a whole, KXGN may be the only station left even as a member of Montana PBS. Being a future non-comm certainly derails the possibility of even attempting to relay any commercial television station from Billings without a new licensee shacking up on KXGN and/or KYUS's spectrum.
  11. No more media market #210 I guess
  12. I'm glad to see they finally made a decision and I think her and Kristine had the best chemistry of all the teams they've tried. I've noticed that Dick Brennan now seems to be the semi-permanent anchor of the 8pm, so it would make sense for Jessica to do the 5pm and 8pm, but we'll see if that happens. I suppose the question becomes who replaces her on the weekend shows. Perhaps Dick Brennan, Allen Devlin, Natalie Dudridge, or an outsider.
  13. Damn, this pretty much seals the fate of the Glendive market. Since it's basically a no-man's land for local TV (since the local cable/internet company seemingly ended TV service, DirecTV never started local service, Dish's channels are mostly out of South Dakota and the only "local" station on YTTV aside from KXGN/CBS was WMAQ in Chicago), it will probably be merged into the Billings market and all of their stations will now serve Dawson County, Montana. Then again, Denver may step in for another far-off remote orphaned county like they do across Wyoming, Utah and any other state they pick up the slack for any other market that won't serve them. Also, this is the end of Stephen Marks' company since they are his (estate's) last two stations since the others have been sold. Marks' former radio stations in Glendive were sold to an entity owned by Andrew Sturlaugson, the son of KXGN-TV station manager Paul Sturlaugson. Keeping things in the Sturlaugson family, Paul's wife Dorothy was the host of KXGN's sole remaining local program "Let's Talk About it", and was also their public affairs manager.
  14. "Live" doesn't need to be live... KARE airs it on tape delay at 11 central in Minneapolis, and that's Market 15.
  15. NBC hasn't been in Glendive since KXGN dropped the subchannel on January 1. While KYUS-TV has been silent since that same time, KULR does has a translator in Miles City, a tiny one at that.
  16. It creates a problem in the eastern time zone, at least so far as their own stations are concerned. The 10 am newscasts are seemingly important to them, and you can’t realistically move the existing noon newscasts to 1 to create that separation around The View. For now, there is no compelling need to put GMA3 nearer the mothership. Live serves the company’s purposes well, and eventually this transition period will settle down.
  17. The application says it will be converted to a non-commercial license, but of course a channel sharing agreement with the translator can be made to round that little obstacle.
  18. Not the first time that it’s happened. Mike Marza was solo the first 1/2 hour a few times too. Not sure where she lives but seems like Shirleen was delayed because of last nights weather
  19. Jessica Moore will officially replace Maurice DuBois as 5pm anchor, effective immediately
  20. Seems like he bounces around a lot. He only stays at most jobs 3-4 years, so he was due to leave again. I think GMA3 would work better if it was on at 9AM, but that would likely bump LIVE to 10AM on the east coast, but would create a problem in the other time zones unless THE VIEW and LOCAL NEWS also get bumped back an hour.
  21. It sucks for Demarco as he was really enthusiastic --brought to tears even -- when he got the job. But in all fairness this program was unstable from its iteration so he had to have seen this revamp was a possibility. Seems he can land jobs easily so he'll probably be fine. Compared to Good Afternoon America, The Chew, and The Revolution ABC has really tried with the 1pm ET slot. Surprisingly GMA 3 hasn't been cancelled yet.
  22. Someone will probably lease subchannels to continue to pump CBS and NBC into these areas (or maybe offer them through some arrangement unknown) but yeah, RIP, Glendive.
  23. So both KXGN and KYUS are joining Montana PBS later this year. Both were sold to Montana State University for $375,000.
  24. Former sports reporter is suing Gray/KVLY-TV for unpaid wages, Gray is countersuing for a breach of contract. https://www.inforum.com/opinion/columns/mcfeely-former-sports-reporter-sues-valley-news-live-saying-it-broke-his-contract Full disclosure- The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead is owned by Forum Communications, who also owns WDAY-TV in the market.
  25. Interesting that Michelle anchored the 4:30am half hour alone.
  26. Rolled out the new talent intro with Pedro. I always wondered why they never did one with Mike (or really the whole morning crew) even many months before his switch. https://abc7ny.com/videoClip/17031465/ Ironically the day they do it, he's not in and Michelle is filling in.
