  1. Past hour
  2. Christina Watkins is leaving WESH 2 and getting out of the TV news business... boy haven't we heard of that before. She's going into the marketing / communications space but away from the daily TV news grind. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2119045555676946&id=1373986347881479
  3. Today
  4. At 01:57, Liz Cho's reaction segment the Monday after Bill's Friday Alzheimer's announcement. As shown in the video, Bill & Liz's first broadcast together Sunday, July 6, 2003. I had always assumed this video was of them permanently taking their slots, but didn't realize it was from a weekend. As for who replaces Bill, I would go with either David Novarro since he already anchors with Liz at 4, or Sandra Bookman since she only does one show at noon.
  5. Update on Pat Battle. Her first post since about last year, in reaction to the Knicks victory. She's rocking a shaven head, with no context around that. Multiple Instagram comments express support and say they're rooting for her. Ms. Battle has shared multiple times on the air that she is a breast cancer survivor. Whatever she's going through right now, apparently cancer, all the best to her.... she's literally got fight in her last name
  6. Could you imagine if Fox owned a bunch of classic movies? Wouldn't that be something? I feel like a Comcast-Roku deal would be a non-starter from a regulatory standpoint, even if our current president didn't have it out for Comcast.
  7. Spin what? That companies like Disney routinely send people off into the unemployment line with the bare minimum required by law? Find us one average joe no longer able to work, someone far less compensated than the lead anchor at WABC, and let us know the job that was carved out for them.
  8. I wonder where that show would air, if it does happen. The CBS O&Os don't seem to have room on their schedules (KYW would have to either move Drew Barrymore or get rid of a newscast). It could go on the sidecar stations, but that wouldn't be good for a show like this. I also wonder if it would be a standard hour or if they would use the half-hour Drew format.
  9. Yesterday
  10. I see that WMOR is adding FBI Most Wanted weeknights thisfall. Anyone know if there are any more off-net shows coming?
  11. Bill's first report post the anchor desk in his new role. He's already hitting the ground running with this. Glad to see him remain present in some capacity. He talks to Maria Shriver about her father's battle with the devastating disease.
  12. KABC/KGO wish they could get this "Circle 7" variant back!!!!
  13. Yeah that old KABC/KGO 7 logo could've been a fluke or a technical issue, or something they quickly needed to edit in, also if you notice the font and even the colors doesn't match its a weird font and the circle 7 is weirdly stretched so thats definitely not a permanent thing.
  14. The logo looks stretched but I’m not seeing the graphics issue. Those look like the standard weather graphics.
  15. Is it me or is that logo a bit stretched...also they can't get their own logo? It's right there!
  16. you can see the graphics at 12 minutes and 38 seconds in…
  17. We now have a date as to when The Spot - Nashville 28 on WNPX will begin... June 29th. That'll also be the date NewsChannel 5+ moves from WTVF 5.2 to WNPX itself which will become a mix of NC5+ programs, syndie programs, and Nashville Predators broadcasts. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZvKV-Gj4LV/?igsh=b25hZncxMXo5MXFo
  18. That is definitely non-standard.
  19. The ADA does not require employers to provide health insurance, nor does it mandate specific coverage levels for disabled employees. However, under Title I, employers who offer health insurance cannot discriminate against employees on the basis of disability in the terms or benefits of that coverage. Enforcement of these workplace protections falls under the EEOC. For disabled individuals navigating coverage options, traditional Medicare (Parts A and B) combined with Part D prescription coverage generally offers stronger protections and more predictable benefits than either private insurance or Medicare Advantage (Part C). While the ADA prohibits employers from terminating an employee solely because of a disability, it does not guarantee unconditional job security. Employees must still be able to perform the essential functions of their role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  20. That's what ADA accommodations are for. Spin it all the way you want and such but there are legal protections both from federal, state, and local levels that provide protections to protected workers. Bill is a protected class as a senior citizen with a disability. Same as the unnamed people who we will never know. Disney has to comply with local laws and if the other workers are not extended the same "courtesy" that you are lauding about, they can sue and win for discrimination. While I may not be well versed in Disney's CBA for WABC employees, I do know about STD, LTD, FMLA, LoA, NY Paid Family Leave and others because at one point in my career, I was protected by NY State Law when I was based for work in New York City.

  22. Last week
  23. Knoe has also gotten the new graphics along with the first alert name in the newscast. https://youtu.be/KxmXXQZ47xA?is=jxXwZjhIXKLf6gWn
  24. Dan Bowens was at the parade basically anchoring remotely. It was a much lighter news day anyway Frances Wang formally of NBC10 in Philly and most recently in San Francisco has joined FOX5. She posted pics with Natasha Verma, wondering if she’ll be the 6pm co-anchor?
  25. I have some doubts we will see much of Bill in the future. His heavy reliance on notes during the Good Morning America interview suggested that his Alzheimer's has progressed beyond the earliest stages and may be approaching the moderate stage.
  26. That’s a lovely idea, but before lauding the company even if we assume it to be the case, the real question would be do they extend that courtesy to people whose names we would never know.
  27. excellent point. It’s the right thing to do and good on Disney/ABC for being loyal to someone who has been loyal to them.
  28. N4NY ended coverage around 1:35 and went to dateline, conveniently blowing off the last bit of anyone recording the channel at least on YouTube tv by saying Dateline started at 1
